Nice love note from SS saying my monthly check will go up by 42 dollars.
Not a lot, but I am reminded of what I think is an old Jewish saying that
that's better than a slap in the face by a wet fish

May your increases be far greater.
Time for a nap on a rainy day.

And maybe a couple dozen 3/4" steel ball bearings and a wrist rocket, you know, for when the deer fence isn't working.

Might also want to invite local law enforcement to drop by for a look see. Otherwise they're gonna see the grow lights and think you've planted something a little more lucrative than carrots.

I thought about that, except I'm doing it in the front living room facing the street, hardly hiding anything, though I suppose I could shut the shades at night, that might be smart.

The carrots are too numerous, 1800 in three little packets, for anything other than direct planting with the manual seeder. But if someone wants to come in and check on my melons, well ok...

I know someone that happened to back in the '90s. Their idea of "come in and check" included a couple van loads of DEA agents and a few dogs. They admired his hydroponics veggie setup for awhile, then left. Tip-off apparently came from a helicopter that flew around at night and detected the grow lights radiating from his house.

Wow, that’s awesome

Bottom line on both mine and wife’s stayed the same. Guess any increase went to Medicare. Think this is 4th year of no bottom line increase. My military pittance did go up $49, so am grateful for that. Same COLA as SS.

I didn’t get my November payment this month, so I called today and was told I had turned down survivor benefits. Why on earth would I refuse? So I had to refile a month later and wait another month still. Good thing I wasn’t depending on it for groceries.

Same with my wife's social security. I don't draw any social security, but my pension has been increasing by about a hundred dollars a month each year, but that's all over now; no increase this year and non expected in the future.

Big change of plans today when my gate did not automatically open. With cold weather on the way fixing it became priority. It's usually the mice or the battery. Today it was both. Got a new battery after my new battery tester said to replace it and electrical tape fixed the wiring harness temporarily. I have a Patriot gate opener - Texas made and the support is great. I described the harness and the guy said he had one around here someplace just text him my address. I did. He texted back that one is on the way, Merry Christmas. That is great customer service.

My white lithium grease had dried out - that is why a mouse made his house in the gate opener control and chewed on the wiring. I went to TS and got a can and soaked all flat surfaces - it should work for two years before another application will be necessary if i can remember to re-apply.

Hello everyone. Thanks for the kind thoughts and all the prayers. Right now my wife is moving into the ICU for the next few days. She is a tough one having undergone close to 14 HOURS of surgery these past two days. Once we get lucid and stabilized I hope for better updates and news.
And its about 40 here in NYC. With colder weather moving in.

About 4 yesterday and 10 today. I don't know how they do the long stuff. I know they had a serious team assembled here. Our visits prior have been like small symposiums. Lots of knowledge being shared. Both of us are early 50's she just wore out in the lower spine and had some serious disk movement and stenosis. That led to hip issues.
We really appreciate the prayers. I pass them along and I know they help.
I caught a Xmas picture in front of a nice tree with her this AM. It reminded me of our travels together in simpler times.
Merry Christmas all. Goodnight.

Just another example of government of the people, by the people, for the people. NOT! You'd think those SSI idiots were paying benefits out of their own pocket.:fiery::censored::thumbsdown:

So happy the surgery went smoothly and pulling for her to recover quickly. One day at a time, Rip.

Right now it is ten minutes at a time and watching the hours tick by. I haven't done these long sleepiness days since college. And the secret room in the hospital just ran out of coffee cups. And it's getting colder in here and outside.
