Buckeye praying for on upcoming surgery

Made trip down south for meeting today up way too early

Not sure of temperatures this morning but from the feel of the floor very cold. Unhooked all of the outside hoses at home before we left very windy on trip down

Ordered air bags for F250 and finally bought a goose neck trailer Load Trail 14000 pound trailer green in color should contrast well with Kubota. Should be ready for pickup first part of December

23 going to 43. Glad the woodstove is enjoying the oak I've been feeding it. Yesterday's strong wind removed much of the remaining colorful leaves.

Scaredy, beautiful snow. We like it here, but we don't get that much most years.

Eric, for 50 pages of instructions, complete 1 page per day and you'll be finished before 2018!

Took my wife and Coco for a nice hike yesterday to the river...back to the spot the hornet walloped me...didn't see any more.

Drew, I looked over our remaining flowers and garden yesterday, too, knowing the end was near. I struggled to keep two hills of nasturtiums barely alive all summer, and yesterday noticed they had finally grown to as big as any I've ever seen, full of blooms. Still had tomatoes, peppers and snaps.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 24° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 35° with mostly cloudy skies. When I woke up at midnight for a nature break the temperature was 17°. Good sign that it's going to be a little warmer today. May go out and blow leaves away from buildings. Then start work on a speed reducer for drill press. Been on my shop project list for years. Hardest part will be finding all the parts I collected for it.
Scaredy, :welcome:
Drew, glad your getting better.
Randy, Thoughts and prayers.
Don, good news on your Mom texting. It will be very easy with a iPad. Next she will want the TBN APP. :D
Good Morning All.

Good morning! 58˚ as the prevailing winds from the South return, heading to 70˚.

We have had only a slight frost this Fall with temps falling to 32 for a few hours. The only plants that were damaged were my sweet potatoes so I dug them up and found nothing. I guess I planted them too late. The regular red potatoes are still looking good even though I forgot to put the alfalfa hay on them.

Looking at the 10 day forecast no freeze is predicted.

One more trip to the at&t store to make sure of all the details on the iPad and the return policy if mom cannot get it. I hope to present it as a Winter hobby to stimulate her mind a little each day to keep her sharp. There is a fine line between new information and overload so I must keep the learning sessions short and simple. We went by Costco yesterday and when I show her the iPad for the first time there was no total rejection however she couldn't believe the high price (on sale for $359 - wifi only).

I'm looking for a seniors iPad book that will be a guideline for the "classes". I don't want to skip things that I just know and she does not like how to swipe, hitting the return key to start a new line, etc.etc.

16 right now...high in the low 30's today.

First order of business is to pick up a suppressor (.22 caliber) in Waterbury (about 50 miles N of Bethel). It took about 8 months for the ATF to process and approve.

I might run down on the field and run a few rounds through a couple rifles and a Ruger SR-22 to see how well the suppressor works...depends on how soon I get to Waterbury (and back), but I plan on heading up about 0830

Definitely need to clean out the spouts...most leaves are down now.

Either this afternoon or tomorrow, I want to get the flail mower in the shed and hook up the snow blower. There's no snow in the forecast (next 10 days), but I'd rather rig the blower when the weather is reasonable.

So, the chores list above will be the weekend plans

For all you Vets...Thank you for your service!!

Good Morning All.

Ron, wish you were in Texas, projects are piling up. You were always good at putting a big dent in them - enough to get me enthused about finishing them in a timely manner.
Mom on the TBN app and morning thread?? Thats a hefty goal, maybe a cameo appearance in a few months.

Thank you Veterans!!!!!

have been working on a garden layout for next year, doing it in Excel.
This is for a one to two acre veggie garden in the field next door. One part will be fenced, most just row crop.
Using Excel for layout; does anyone know if you can input verbiage in Excel vertically vs the normal horizontal? With rows going vertically in the diagram, would be nice to label them but so far I have to use a blank pattern and then hand write in the info. Not a big deal but I can read the typing better than my super small writing.

I'm not sure if this is what you want...

Right click on a cell and select the Format Cells command (it will be near the bottom of the popup menu), select the Alignment tab. You'll see text orientation to the right. I reckon you'll figure how to do that by trial and error. BTW, I suggest you stick with 45 degrees rather than vertical.

Easy. Highlite the cells and merge them to make a pattern (alternatively you can resize cells). Right click the patern and select Format cell, click Alignment tab. It is all there.

just calculated I'll have 2000 linear feet of potato rows. That's a lot of potatoes...well, for me. I'll give almost all of it to foodbanks anyway.
Will be getting a lot of seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom seeds, all non GMO. Going to set up my sunroom as a seed room, tons of light in there.
Come February the seed trays will get filled. Not yet sure whether a transplanter makes sense or to do this all slowly by hand. That's a lot of down on my knees work,
which I love, but my back doesn't.

thanks for Excel tips , trying that now

Yikes L4n, if 2F is only cool, how far does the thermometer have to drop before you change out of shorts and and finally admit it is cold ? :)

Nice snow pic  - D - :chicken:

Rick, I have never been to Nebreska, so maybe that's while I still enjoy snow - in other people's pictures :)

Yep, I first came to Texas in 1967. Boarded a plane in Omaha, mid February, in about 18 degree weather with snow blowing sideways. Landed in San Antonio, to start my USAF Basic Training, with balmy 73 degrees. That was imprinted on my brain. Now I only go back in the summer. If I want to see snow, I can look at LFN’s pics.

I'm sure that cigar is most helpful in keeping the bugs away, but can the deer smell it or are you downwind of where the deer will be?
Maybe they'll like the smell....meander over into range.

With the amazing amount of weaponry in my neighbor's homes, I still haven't seen any deer brought home. One fireman has a treestand over my pond, but never comes. I think he's establishing his zone when I finally get back there and clean out around the pond. The whole area floods at times, but when the pond is down, which I bet it is now, all the cypress knees/roots are showing all over the banks. Very neat to see large cypress trees come out of the water, interesting root structure. Am hoping to clear out an area to sit, look over the pond, and perhaps bring in some deer and migrating fowl. Too dense now, needs cleaning out, second growth mess from prior cutting. That's a project for the winter.

21° and sunny. Covered the green peppers that were still producing, but probably got them anyways. Gotta go pick up the speed queen, but gonna eat breakfast at ihop first.
HS football team won 1st playoff game. Next week we play 3 time state champs in 3A that dropped to 2A this yr. That will be a tough one.

Never been to Nebraska, one of 5 states i havent visited. NE, ND, ID, NV and RI.

Ed, dry air cools more rapidly than humid air, so a low dew point in the 8 To midnight hours often indicates a big drop in temps by morning. I’m sure Buppies or someone could explain it better than I.
24 this morning, 40’s today, not as much wind.
Learning new tricks, like grocery shopping, wash8ng clothes, etc... all things I’ve done in the past but am 40 years out of practice.

The low this morning was 25*, yesterday's high was 50*. Today's going to be in the 50's with sunny skies and some wind.

We had about 8 doe's and one nice 4 point buck in the front yard last evening. It was fun to watch him trying to get friendly with one of them. She didn't seem to be interested in him.

Not sure what the day will bring.

I thank the veterans for their service.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

LOL, welcome to the Speed Queen subset. :) Hopefully your wifey will like it over time. I notice that the spin cycle must really spin fast because of how dry the clothes are when they come out of the washer.

Taking daughter to the rodeo barn for her rodeo day. She has been learning to ride.
