I’m getting a steel building with spray on insulation and multi point attachment brackets on all walls. Make it easier to do shelving and work benches. Supposed to be up before Thanksgiving.

Good morning! 55˚ heading to the 80s. Looking for that next cool front coming Sunday.

Ok, major project starting in the morning thread. Looks like Randy has been appointed to give us our morning entertainment as we watch his building go up. We will be looking for that morning progress picture as we help him build it.

So I'm off today for vacation. Supposed to go fishing, but the weather report is no good. high probability of rain and 15 mph winds out of the east driving the tide way high. All not good. I am postponing my time to head to the coast...

Meanwhile, wifey brought me some great coffee and I am waiting for the sun to come up so that I can get some work done on the 5420 tilt steering problem. I also have the seat off, and the adjacent panels in order to adjust the PTO clutch and the main power reverser clutch cables.

X-Bolt Stalker Long Range

when you really need 1000 yards...
That Browning is quite a gun, good enough to make what seems like a sniper rifle out of it.
I'd like to shoot some targets with that, if I could get back far enough.
Of course I'm assuming you usually have a big scope on these deer/large animal guns.

That would take out the zombies at far range for sure.
I find rifles fascinating, shotguns very cool, and handguns scary.
Makes me a bit of an odd pacifist but it's good not to live up to stereotypes.

Sadly after Las Vegas, the seriousness of a rifle's capability is truly driven home.
Nothing to fool with or for sure to aim at the wrong thing.
A whole lot of lethality wrapped up in a fine piece of machinery.
It's the lethality in the brain of the gun owner/operator we have to worry about.
I love to target shoot. Maybe some day I'll need to save the day.
All situations are different and we need to survive. And I'm protective enough to consider
wounding someone who is killing others. Even picking up a gun to do it is a big stretch
for me. But to be safe, you can't be naive.
back to regular programming.

I can certainly see the appeal of collecting guns. I buy implements and tractors instead.
But I'm glad my neighbor is locked and loaded.
As is Eric and others. The Huns can still come over the hill.

I actually haven't hunted sense 1989 just enjoy collecting and target practice. I cannot see clearly at 1000 yards so for me no need. If I do not know what is behind my intended target I will not fire. The different wood grains in the stocks and uniqueness of the item appeal to me. The 204 was an accidental find. The 22 Hornet is the plinker of choice right now

Maybe the weather will improve soon so you can go on your trip

The low this morning was a little warmer at 35*, yesterday's high was 68*. Today's going to be in the mid 60's with some lite winds. They are saying we could get snow Friday night in to Saturday morning. That might help the Elk hunt.

Taking the wife's car in for service and do some shopping in town today. That will take most of the day.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

48°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 81° today.

Thanks for sharing the fall colors, fellas. Looks like we'll not get much color around here this year.

Wifey was off for some evening dog training last night, so I made myself some dinner, then sat down and watched a hockey game. Blues/Blackhawks is one of those great sports rivalries, and the local boys stomped those stinkin' Hawks. I don't get many opportunities to watch hockey much these days, so that was quite enjoyable (even for a Redwings fan).

I bought a large lot of once-fired .223 brass a few years ago, Eric, and found about a couple dozen or so .204 cases mixed in. I don't shoot those, so I gave them to a friend who does. He loves them. It does show some nice ballistics.

Good luck with the new building, Randy.

51F and partly cloudy @ 09:00, high today of 69F.

Went up to Hiram yesterday afternoon to have a look at that Stihl 031AV. The seller was a small engine mechanic, that works at local lawnmower/power equipment place up there ... seemed like a decent guy. Probably had 30 or 40 saws in his little home workshop, with even more in another outbuilding. Had two or three more 031AV's.

Picks them up and goes through them and then sells them. Says it puts a few extra bucks in his pocket and keeps him out of trouble. Also restores Coleman lanterns ... had about a dozen of those hanging from the rafters.

The pics of the saw were accurate ... it was very clean. In fact, it looks better in person than it did in the pics he had posted.

Got the full story on it ... along with all the service records, original sales receipt, and the owner's manual. The saw was up on craigs for a very long time, for way too high a price. He'd been going back and forth with the seller and finally told the guy he might as well come take a look at it. Evidently they came to terms and he took it home. The guy he bought it from was the original owner. The original owner was selling it due to a mis-diagnosis from a saw shop who told him it couldn't be fixed and he just needed to buy a new saw.

I debated taking only the powerhead, because I really wanted a 20" bar on it ... but he was only going to knock off $25 and the 16" bar and chain that were on it were in good shape. In fact, the chain looked to be near new ... so I went ahead and took the whole enchilada. Saw starts every easy, runs nice, and seems very strong.

On the way home I managed to connect with the lawn guy after multiple calls and met up with him and got him paid.

Just as I got home Zack was coming down with the Bobcat and we moved those last two loads of chips over to the compost pile.

Had him take a look at his saw and he was pretty pumped at having it back together again ... fairly easy to please evidently ...

However, I then had him try to start it and he couldn't. Dunno what's up with that, as I was able to start it up after a couple of pulls once I a rough idea of the starting procedure from the guy up in Hiram that I bought the Stihl from. I need to read the owner's manual for the Husky that I downloaded and make sure I'm following the procedure correctly. I do know that Zack wasn't using the compression release when he tried to start it.

Will heading over today to pick up drywall and then be going into the commercial property to do some board up ...

Looks like we have only four more days of decent weather before the bottom drops out ... :(
