64 this morning and currently 89.

Hay is down. Was planning to Tedder part of it but after checking it this morning think I'm going to just let it lay flat. Don't want it too dry.

Getting things ready to migrate chickens.

Kyle. When I change fuel filters I always fill them first. Fill, let settle, shake/swirl, repeat. Then screw them into place. If it has a priming pump then try to built a little pressure with it. Run throttle to wide open and crank. Once running leave wide open for a few minutes. You'll only get one shot. Theory is if it has an air bubble it'll be spinning fast enough to work it out without stalling. I've had 'em spit alittle.

Thomas congrats on the 43. I'm at 8 years of working for myself. Longest I've ever been able to tolerate my boss.

Farmer, I love it when the filters go in at an angle so you can't fill them all the way up without making a huge mess. I usually pour some in, let it sit for a minute, pour some more until almost full and spin on. But that's an oil filter; I admit being a big chicken (Ha!) when it comes to diesel fuel filters. Never had to prime a diesel, never want to.
With clean fuel and a known clean tank, shouldn't I be able to go three or four years on those fuel filters? which for me is say 200 hours.
The fuel comes out of my own tank through two filters to begin with.

got my car inspected, garage only gets 13 bucks for it, a real loser to them on a newer car because there's nothing wrong to fix usually, and there is no emission
testing whatsoever on cars or trucks in Beaufort County. Ecological neanderthals.

Too bad they can't get a tractor to run on spent tobacco juice...lot of chewing and spitting going on around here.
Kinda grosses me out, for sure not a Northern thing. Mouth cancer is a very bad thing...

Storm warnings up on Outer Banks, wind and rain here, and not too much of either but it was
strangely dark and cloudy today, clouds coming in from odd directions. Probably the advance swirls from the storm.

Emissions testing is the biggest scam going. States spend billions for the facilities, and over 99% of the vehicles will pass.

Good evening all. 72F this morning, mostly cloudy, calm wind, Clouds remained all day, wind was moderate, and temp was 89F. One of those days where don't start sweating as soon as you walk out but doesn't take long to start . Started day with choir practice, transitioned to mowing the front lawn, got new flap put on mower, still need to mow back.

Thomas congrats on 43 yr at one workplace, very impressive!

Kyle, my 1700 was picky on bleeding the fuel line. Took 3 tries one when ran dry on the hill. Funny how never ran dry after that :D

Don glad you got the tractor running, sounds like you are making much more progress with it running :) :drink:

Eric, just so you know crappie is pronounced like it is spelled "cropy". And is very tasty :licking:

Billie, did you use light spinning tackle or fly-rod on the bluegill? Never had much luck on crappie in rivers.

Drew no emissions testing here on Cooke county TX. Has something to do with 16,000 total county population.

I only ran diesel dry once, dont do that again.

Well, kind of sort of good news on the slow leak tire....The good news is the beads seem to be holding, but I finally found a slow pin hole leak around an old plug repair. Ugggh. I put a fresh corded plug repair in the hole. The old repair was just a plain rubber plug. Something good to keep on hand is a fresh tube of the rubber patch goo. It likes to evaporate once you punch a hole in the opening. I try to always keep an unopened tube in the toolbox. Hope it holds. Not as good as an internal patch/plug, but good enough I hope.

Next up, bleeding the fuel lines. I will try my vacuum on "A" or "B"

Farmer, thanks for the tip, I filled one of the filters, but not the pre filter...

63 right now...high about 90...one more day of high (unseasonable) temperatures, than a bit more normal for this time of year.

One of the things was replacing the toilet seat in the upstairs bathroom. One of the plastic bolts had stripped and loosened, which caused the seat to move. While removing the old one and installing the new one, I began wondering why they make those plastic bolts three times longer than they need to be.

PJ, they do seem excessive in length, but then again, nowhere near as long a thread as Good morning

Another dull day here, the swallows have had enough and set off back to Africa. We will miss their aerial displays but certainly not their mess.

Hay is down. Was planning to Tedder part of it but after checking it this morning think I'm going to just let it lay flat. Don't want it too dry.

I am so envious farmer. We have always been able to rely on at least one week of dry weather coming along sometime in summer, but not this year and it doesn't look to be happening in September either. Our main hay field has been cut and wrapped for silage instead and the reserve field will most likely now just go for grazing.

Too wet, too dry, or just right, hope everyone still enjoys the day to come.

71 going to 82 today, cloudy, windy, maybe some showers from the system offshore.
I read Farmer's comment about too dry and thought of Eric also...looking through the fog and overcast, when will my hay ever dry...

What is the difference between hay and silage? I think I know...isn't all of it eaten?

   / Good morning!!!! #62,693
Good morning all. 65 here this morning going to 84 with morning fog. Mother in law coming for her weekly visit and then hope to finely get to cutting out the pantry door.

Drew, Kinda like cabbage, stored in a cool place it is cabbage, more water and it ferments and you have sauerkraut.

Mostly, Depends on where you are, We don't have cropie, we have crappy.

Have a great day. Ed

Poured first cup of coffee. 61° with some fog this morning. Heading to 90° with sunny skies this morning. Another 90°+ day yesterday. I am ready to get back to some of those cool temperatures I was complaining about a couple weeks ago. Yesterdays garden pond project did not go well. It was not the drain pipe. Pond has a waterfall filter that sends water to pond. There is a transition pieces that screw to main filter body. It has 15 1/4" screws holding it to filter body. Screws screwed into blinds nuts. Many of the blind nuts and some screws had corroded away. They must have been a low quality stainless steel. Was able to get all the old screws out or broke off. Off to Menards for a selection of screws, nuts, washers and caulk to put it back together. It was after 1:00 when I turned pump back on. Threw all the tools in back of golf cart. Called it a day. Today I have to put all dirt and stones back in place. Hope to get it done long before sun cooks me today. Otherwise it will wait until tomorrow when temperatures will be in the 70's.
Eric, waiting for hay to dry seemed to be the hardest part of doing hay. Always wished I had a hay conditioner. But never found one at my price point.
Roy, I am with you. We need a cooling off.
Kyle, my son ran our B7100 out of fuel one time. After we filled the tank with fuel. Opened each bleeder screws until fuel showed up. Cranked engine over a couple of times with fingers crossed and it started. Service manual had good instructions on how to properly bleed system.
PJS, something else to add too my list of need to know. :anyone:
Good Morning All.

Perhaps they need this to keep the bad one percent off the road, but visible smoke is a pretty good indicator for a traffic stop.
I think it catches those clogged up Toyota catalytic converters that smell so horrible, like getting behind a kimche truck.

Mostly, I think you have it. Mostly farmers here, very small city, next county over has much larger city, university and huge hospital complex.
So that county gets emission testing.

got the bills paid, once again got mail for prior owner of my home, misdelivered by local hospital chain. What makes me sad is it's from the home care and hospice dept. That can't be good. Husband already died, nice people, but not in great health, this place became too much for them.
I need to go visit her, maybe give her another trip around the farm in my golf cart. She loves seeing "her" rose garden.

Thanks, been a rough few weeks. Went to a dr yesterday and he wants me to have surgery for something else...
And i still need to do my colonoscopy that got postponed.

Hopefully today i hear if i got on the new project. Will head to the office and see what they say. If not, another boring day, except for TBN.

67 and sticky cloudy foggy outside. Looking for 81, but no rain here, either, Buppies.

Cut another load of firewood in the heat yesterday. Wasn't that bad once I got going. Then mowed for 2 hours later in the afternoon.

Wife has her yoga group over today (I call them the Yogettes) so I'm off to the gym and running errands.

Mostly, I sometimes fly fish from the kayak, but took the light spinner with me Sunday...every catch seemed like a nice fight.
