You left out the rattlesnakes, scorpions, wild pigs, various biting and stinging insects, and broiling summers. I'll stick with earthquakes, shakey dams, and call it even on the broiling summers and rattlesnakes...:laughing::laughing:

Nope, those are regular day in day out things.

I pray you all in the path of the storm stay safe. When we had that 11" in about 18 hours a few weeks back, it was havoc for a while, I can't imagine what you all have to deal with.

Beautiful day here, strong NE wind from the Atlantic storm that's brewing, waiting on a week if wind and wet. Heading to down to the Southern Shores house for a long weekend Thursday, and a classmates reunion dinner, we haven't gotten together in 6 years.

Lovely afternoon cutting wood and splitting it, about half of it was red oak and my did it smell nice.
This is my backup woodpile, the one by the house is full. This is the wood I'm having a hard time giving away...

Good afternoon, 73° and sunny.

Cleaning out garage to prep for laborday cookout, which means move the junk and hide it elsewhere. Still a touch humid out when working, feels good when you sit in the shade.

Little league world series just started, US hit HR on first pitch.

Only in Texas can you have a drought, a burn ban, an eclipse, a hurricane and tornadoes all in one week!

July 1, 1972, we left Dallas that morning enroute to Alaska in a 3/4 ton pickup pulling a 25' travel trailer. And a little ways west of Dumas, we ran into a downpour so heavy that we pulled off the road for a few minutes, then we had a little hail, then we saw a tornado coming from the south. My wife was hysterical and I was scared out of my wits, but it veered off to the west. We started on again, and suddenly saw what looked like a dark cloud rolling on the ground coming from the north. I think it scared me worse than the tornado. But when it hit us, it was a dust storm; just coated my windshield with mud. I hit the switch for the windshield washers and thought it was a terrible time for them to not work but as the wipers moved enough mud that I could see out, the windshield washer was working; squirting the water up, and the wind was blowing it off to the left. My parents were right in front of us, pulling a 21' travel trailer with a Buick and an aunt & uncle were behind us in a pickup camper. We stopped at the first rest area we came to, and my uncle said, "I've heard the expression "wild as a west Texas twister" but nobody'd believe this." Yep, we'd seen rain, hail, tornado, high winds, and a dust storm all within an hour. And I certainly hope to never experience anything like that again.

And today . . . we've had a very nice day; started at 72 and went to 85, cloudy most of the day with one sudden cloudburst around 2 p.m. that dumped about .3" of rain in my gauge.

That's a nice looking wood pile, Drew. If noboday around you wants it, I'll make room for it. If I'm not home when you drop it off, you can just leave it out by the gate.:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Good evening all. Got nothing done today but have been busy all day. Took the Boy up on the Drive (Skyline Drive) and had lunch in the car. Trying to break his stress. Worked a little. Feel like taking a nap but will wait till night.

Drew. The old timers where I grew up used to say, If you get saw dust in your shoes you will never get it out. I guess you are proving them right.

Still praying for Texas.

Gave a great night. Ed

tropical starm warning just posted here, interesting
looks like something is going up the coast, going to get here tomorrow afternoon and
dump some rain. Has nothing to do with what's happening in Texas, sadly that storm is still predicted to dump
about six inches a day for the next few days.
Otherwise it was just a lovely day here, low humidity, and just fun to be outside.

Ed, you should have seen the sawdust I dumped out of my shoes today;)
