Harvey is getting weaker but closer. The eye is 100 miles due South. It is suppose to turn around soon. Wind is only 10 to 15 here. Our rain totals 5.3" today at 3pm. There are about a dozen power outage areas but 99% of our Electric co-op customers have power. Our road is closed but the water has been a lot higher during the spring floods.View attachment 519912
I'm hoping the vfd will adopt the new late Sept date yearly. It used to be in Sept but they got rained out.

check that. Rain is coming down in bucketloads. Probably close to 11" now. Gusts to 40mph.

Texas just won the Little League championships, in a huge comeback.
Hopefully a positive omen for the flooding.

Drew, I was unable to watch. Glad for them. We need some sunshiny news.

My 87 year old mom is up here staying with us, (from Victoria). Glad she's here, but she's getting stir crazy.

It is raining as hard as it ever has here as I type this.

12 1/2" of rain in 24 hours. Are we half done yet? Probably not.

Rain gauge had over flowed overnight when I checked it early this morning so could be more than the 12 1/2" I've dumped out.

So they moved it closer to the middle of hurricane season? Since they seem open to moving it, what about late spring or early summer before the big storms have a chance to wind up?:confused2: Or maybe even get all scientific about it and take a look at the weather histories for the area at Weather Forecast & Reports - Long Range & Local | Wunderground | Weather Underground. Naw, that makes too much sense!:laughing:

This from Fox news:

"Key oil and gas facilities along the Texas Gulf Coast were temporarily shut down as Harvey pounded the region with torrential rain and high winds, virtually assuring gasoline prices will rise in the storm's aftermath.
Even before the Harvey made landfall late Friday, dozens of oil and gas platforms had been evacuated, at least three refineries had closed and at least two petrochemical plants had suspended operations."

How much you wanna bet the prices'll go up on the West Coast, too? The greedy SOBs'll use any excuse to raid our pockets, and Harvey's a doozy!

Hope all you Texas folks stay safe. Serious flooding will continue for a while high pressure to north and east will keep Harvey from moving very much. Please heed warnings seriously. Weather for the mid Atlantic and North East takes a decidedly cooler direction fall like in fact. We are still very dry here pond 3.25 feet down and falling. No real work at home seems work is occupying my time seven days a week. Work harder to come by this year than last so will have to work harder and smarter.

Tractor leaking hydro fluid around one of the three spools just need time to fix
GPS in truck on fritz glad it's still under warranty just inconvenient

Conditions are getting worse for central Texas as Kyle also noticed. The wind has picked up and the rains are increasing. We just past the 9" mark and it's still coming down hard with no end in sight. Harvey is now 80 miles South of us. One model shows him coming through our county in 2 days. Looks like we will be stuck on this hill for a while.

surprisingly cool 63 degrees out, partly cloudy day into low 80's. Mighty nice.
Mostly, I'm glad you are North of the storm. I was wondering how you were going to ride through a foot of water...

housework to do this morning, then some serious time with a chain saw this afternoon cutting up logs for splitter. Right shoulder rotator cuff still very sore, seems better once I "work it out" but it comes back...one more part wearing out. I think I need a better Parts Dept....;)

Good morning! Woke up to pounding rain on my North bedroom window. We are up to 11.5" in the first 28 hours of this 5 day event. I will try to venture out and see how close the water is coming to the neighbors house at daylight. On our road we are at the highest elevation. iPhone just went off again - weather warning "Flash Flood Warning" in our area. duh

Harvey took a slight turn to the west and the eye is about 100 miles to the South South West from us. It is not moving much. I'm sure that places that have never flooded will flood in this Storm. All utilities are still on.

59 going to 80. Another great feeling morning outside and lots of stars.

Sorry Texas is getting hit so hard. Prayers.

Did over 5 hours on the tractor with bush hog and lawn mower yesterday. Put tiller on tractor and soon will get some ground ready for planting clover. Son gave me two bags of white clover seed for Father's Day.

44 right now...high in the low 70's. Pretty much a repeat of yesterday.
Only plan today is to mow the field...probably start that about 1100 or so after the dew dries. After that....maybe do a bit of plinking with one of the .22's

Poured first cup of coffee. 54° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 77° with some clouds. 54° is much better for a morning temperature. Should be another great day to relax and enjoy the weather. Last my son come over to replace a couple of yard lights with LED's. Main one went up with no problems. Pole for one behind barn did not seem right. Told Son to forget it. While worker was coating roof. I disconnected wiring to light. Took one hand and pushed pole aways from barn. It kept on going all the way to ground. My project today is to cut that pole up and come up with a replacement pole. Thinking of attaching it to barn. No more pole to worry about. That is all I have planned for today.
Don, I know that low point on your road. But never seen water over it. Hope the utilities stay running for you. You and others in way of Harvey stay safe and dry.
Drew, hope the smack on head was no more than LJG type of smack. Are there more of the old pecan trees than that one on your place?
RS, was the beer as good as the dog picture? :drink:
Good Morning All.

several new technologies have caught my eye recently. This morning I read where Gravely is now using radial tires on the rear of their largest commercial zero turn.
I never knew they made radial tires in this size...

Briggs and Stratton now is touting a small mower engine that never needs oil changing, just add oil. This i have to see...

Lastly, I've noticed that some companies are now calling their gasoline engines 1000 hour engines, as if that number is a really good one.
Would be pathetic for diesel, but for the average push mower, most folks would probably be quite happy to get 1000 hours from a mower that of course
always starts and runs great. Seems 1000 hours will be a new marketing sales pitch. That's a lot of years for a push mower that gets used two hours a week.

Ron, I've looked now, no, this is only pecan. Not sure of type. Probably a Stuart or Cape Fear.

Gravely is also selling a premium Yamaha engined zero turn.

Had multiple emergency alarms thru the night. Flash floods. I'm on a bit of a hill, so I don't believe there will be any problems.

Our line of sight internet went out. Not sure if it is our dish, or their tower.

Have a great day all!
