60 this morning and headed to 85 today. Did I miss a month somewhere? Or is it still August? Forecast looks like one for late September. Nothing hotter than 87 in 10 day, but no complaints from me.

Good morning all, 56 now going to 81 and sunny. Piddle day today I guess. We have a free pass for our Handicapped family member. Was free and we all get into "The Drive" (skyline drive) for free or any other US par .

If you are bored and want something to do check out the music video Bumblebees in the Hay. Kinda goofy but fun.

Have a great day. Ed

One senior pass is good for all people in vehicle or three other people where per person is charged.

This is the small print on the email receipt:

"The Senior Pass is a lifetime pass available to United States citizens or permanent residents 62 years of age or older. The Pass can be used at over 2000 Federal recreation sites managed by the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Senior Pass admits the Pass owner and any passengers traveling with him/her in a single non-commercial vehicle at per-vehicle fee areas or the Pass owner and three additional adults where per-person fees are charged. The Senior Pass may also offer a discount on some expanded amenity fees, such as camping. Discounts offered by the Pass vary widely across the many different types of recreation sites. Pass owners are encouraged to check with sites they plan to visit before obtaining a Pass to verify that their Pass will be accepted. Anytime a Pass is used, photo identification will be requested to verify Pass ownership."

it may take up to 12 weeks to get your senior pass but during the wait you can use your e-mail receipt like the senior pass.

Don, I decided to go ahead and just get a pass for each of us. Saving double money that way.

wow, lots going on, fire dept carnivals, working with 23 tractors, laying pipe, etc; sounds like a fun summer. And thankfully, at the moment here in the East, a little cooler.

I just finished baking a double box carrot raisin cake with cream cheese icing, including a large flower on top made of little slivers of carrots. Pic to follow.
Gift to family with kids. Sure made the house smell nice. Rain last night, but hopefully a fair day today.

When they figure out how to regulate the weather, can you imagine the change in our lives? No more hurricanes or twisters.
Always fun to ask...what would you dial it in at? What temp range in daytime and then at nightime. When it should rain...
Sounds like science fiction. Living under the dome. Except who wants a dome? Farmer wouldn't need all those fans, Whipper would stay cooler,
and every Wednesday night 1.8 inches of rain would fall, gently and fully soaked up by the land.
I spend a fair amount of my recreation time reading science fiction, have since I was a little kid.

There is historical precedent for managing the weather. One need only look to Camelot, the fabled kingdom where it only rained on Wednesdays.
Maybe it was Merlin's doing... Both my boats were named Camelot...
No way I could retire and still own something that expensive to maintain. But I lived aboard that boat for three years so it was like a home to me.
still get the itch...

am glad some of you were helped by the Park pass deal. A friend sent it to me. Some good ideas are worth passing along.

off to town with errands, hope you all enjoy your day

Don, I decided to go ahead and just get a pass for each of us. Saving double money that way.

There is an advantage with each person having the pass, after you get in the park, on the expanded amenities.

"Also, at many sites, the Senior Passes provide the pass owner (only) a discount on Expanded Amenity Fees (such as camping, swimming, boat launching, and guided tours)."

The low is morning was 43*, yesterday high was 80'. Did get a little rain in the afternoon. It's partly cloudy this morning with 40% chance of showers.

Going to help older neighbor put up a electric fence for his horses. Maybe go up and cut some more poles for the other neighbors fence. I know I will them later.

I have been working on some old fishing poles that belonged to my dad, getting them ready for the grandsons. They will be here next week a few days.

Wife should be coming back from SLC today.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

60°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 88° today. A little warm today and tomorrow, then back to the low 80s for another week or so.

Wife has been collecting quotes for reglazing the bathtub in the basement bathroom. Local guy who lived a block from me when I lived in St. Jacob appears to have won by a long shot. Reputation had him very good, but expensive. Turns out his quote was nearly half what several other St. Louis area glazers are quoting, and his warranty is nearly twice as long. It's good to shop around.

When we visited the Grand Canyon back in 2011, we bought an annual pass. It was considerably cheaper than daily passes for the whole week.

61.7F and clear @ 09:30, high today of 82F. Chance of rain tomorrow and Friday.

Got the north drain line pretty much all flushed out and slope mostly set. East line is close but still a little more to do on it in spots.

Pretty fast flow through all of the pipe, so it should flush itself. The far ends were raised around 6".

Have started backfilling trenches. Have to remember to wear my back belt today ...

Might go up and have a look at all that beautiful new 'crete at Jeff's before they track it all up.

60s headed to 90s again today, smoke not as bad last night. Decided to mow lawn last night, it was looking pretty ragged. Went pretty well, I wore my fancy mask. Lawn looks good now. Still need to mow by shop, but that is too dusty when it has been this hot. It also gets dust from the gravel road.

My SIL told us about the senior passes, too bad we are not quite old enough. I figured you all knew about them.. my apologies for not sharing back when I found out.
