60F and very sunny @ 08:30, high today of only 70F supposedly but I'll bet we beat it. No precipitation in the forecast today, tomorrow, and Saturday, highs of 70, 73, and 77.
Possibly will be dry enough to get some of the front lawns mowed by late Saturday, likely dry enough today to get most of the lawn around the house mowed again. I started on it yesterday and then remembered that the front gauge wheel/tire that I recently had a tube put in was flat. Speaking of which ...
I took that wheel/tire down to the local tire store a few days ago to have them put a tube in it. I was sitting here the other day, after that, watching a video on the computer (on shooting ...

) when all of sudden there was a very loud BANG right out in front of the house. Kinda freaked me out it was so loud. I had a look around and decided that mebbe The Woman had failed to shut the man door going out of the garage to the side yard and the wind had gotten ahold of it. Day after, I noticed that the tire was flat/loose on the wheel.
So's I take it back down to the local place - who I and others I know have had a number of issues with in the past - and show it to their manager. Hand it over to him and tell him what happened - I had just installed it on the mower, didn't even check the pressure after I had gotten it back from them, etc. - and he just sort looks at it and say "Huh ..." Finally he says "Well, I'll take it back and have my guy look at it ..."
Excellent idea.
So he comes back in a few with the old tire off the rim and says the bead was damaged and one or more of the cords had separated on the inside, perhaps poking the tube or something. Need a new tire. I didn't think about it at the time but I seriously doubt that there were any metal cords in it. So I take a closer look at it ... the inside is covered in Slime ... they didn't even bother to clean it out before they tubed it ... :confused2:
So I ask him "How much ?" He looks it up, and says he has the tires in stock and it will be $25 for the tire (Carlisle) and mounting. Had I known that, I probably would have just had him replace it in the first place rather than tube it (getting it tubed was $15 ...

) The old tire was a Hi Run (Chinese junk) that I probably picked at TSC and the sidewalls were starting to crack. My error for being being-wise and pound foolish ... but a good salesman would have tried to upsell me when I first brought it in. At least he knocked $5 off on the tire ($21) ...
Got 35 gallons of hard water drawn yesterday for partial water changes in the fish tanks. Ran by the range and picked up a couple of the targets that will be used in the CHL test and then did some target practice which went reasonably well. Grilled hamburgers again last night.
Today I'll make a decision on tires for the wife's car. The one time we tried putting on something other than Michelins, she was very unhappy with the ride. Michelin no longer makes that particular tire, but they do make a very well-rated all-season tire in that size that has pretty good performance in ice and snow. Not cheap though ... but the local Discount Tire does have them in stock. Probably just replace two at this point, and squeak the ones that aren't to minimum tread depth yet until late fall.
Will mix Roundup today for the 25 gallon sprayer and move the pump sprayers and jugs of premix up to the front of the house so they can be taken in town over the next couple of days. Move soil screen frame out of the shop and clean the mud on it off while I have the loader on the Kubota. Mebbe some more painting on the panels. Clean the LCP.
Hope everyone has a productive and enjoyable day.
