45F light rain mid 50's for high,ON/OFF showers the rest of the day.

Vacation day from work today hopes wash the outside of the house which will not happen because of rain,sooo now my plan off to lawn mower shop for fluids filters for both riders,BIG dump run,Home Depot for tar in tube of sort,and fishing lic. all before noon.

Why can't you wash the outside of the house because of rain? I once planned to pressure wash the house, almost cancelled because of rain but then decided to put rain slickers on and did it anyway. My thinking was that I was going to get wet any way. It was the best thing., the rain carried away the wash debris and made the job so much easier.

Good morning! 73˚ cloudy heading to 87˚. a cool front will be pushing in today dropping the temps to 50˚ in the morning but it fizzles and we are right back in the high 80s tomorrow. Had a "Dad's Down" call at midnight. He's ok just fainted because of low BP. He just needs to wait a few minutes before he walks after he wakes up.

Good morning all,

Had to leave home last night to travel away for a bit of paid work. For once it was not a bad journey, over half of it in daylight thanks to the lighter evenings.

Time flew by with some good BBC radio programs, including an interview on the lifetime work of Graham MacGregor, Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Wolfson Institute of Preventative Medicine. He had first hand experience of much research work being suppressed because the groups funding it would not like the findings. Amongst other things, he said that older age does not in itself cause an increase in blood pressure, it is only our choice of diet that puts it up.

He also laughed at the current marketing mania for constant hydration. Although harmless on the body, he said it was a complete waste of time as human bodies are well designed to go hours without water. Maybe if you need to go a long way to take an extra pee, the exercise does you a little good.

66°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 72° today. Expecting some potentially severe storms to move through the area later today.

Wifey got the grass mowed yesterday. While using the push mower in tall grass around the well house, she hit a baseball-size rock and flung it against the side of her Kia Sorento. It left a nasty dent on the rear passenger door next to the window. She was furious, as she'd just asked the boy to pick up those rocks last weekend and stack them near the driveway. It also mangled the blade on the mower. She said it was shaking a lot after that. Hoping it didn't bend the shaft, too.

Got her small TV mounted on the wall in her sewing room last evening. She doesn't so much watch movies as she does listen to them while she's working in there (She can recite the entire Harry Potter series and Lord of the Rings trilogy verbatim). So, that room is now finished. This pleased her.

I can't imagine using the jack

If you do end up using that jack in sand, you'd best have a 2' length of 2" x 10" to put the foot on or it'll sink faster than the truck will rise. DAMHIKT...:banghead:

Good Morning! 56F @ 8:00. Considerable cloudiness with occasional rain showers. High 66F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 50%.

A pretty good turnout by the concerned citizenry at the board of supervisors meeting yesterday had them table the suggestions to close the three so called Amador (funded jointly by county and state money) fire stations, including mine. Turns out staff had only looked at cuts within the fire department budget instead of looking elsewhere first. Typical bean counter approach to cut the fat hog first. If they're not successful in closing the $3M shortfall (out of a total $200M budget), the stations will be back on the chopping block.

One of the local TV stations was on hand to video the proceedings, I was interviewed twice, and snippets were used on the broadcast that evening. Not a very impressive performance :laughing:

Didn't get back home 'till after three, and by the time I had lunch it was close to four o'clock. Fueled up the tractor and started mowing for the first time this year, probably getting about four acres done. Started on the steepest part of the property below the house, as the grass was longest there and represented the greatest fire danger. That's also one of the areas that had been dozed last Labor Day, and I had to be very careful not to fall into a hole or off an edge that was hidden by the grass. Got off more than a few times to walk the ground before going onto it, and can see there are some places that could use some grading. If the rain holds off this morning I'll go back out this afternoon and do more mowing. Highs in the 80s are forecast by the end of the week, and I'd like to get it done before it gets hot.

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook yesterday. How was I to know I had a drawer full of designer jeans worth thousands?:confused2::laughing:

Somewhere sometime ago I learned the same lesson. I now have a 2'x2'x2" piece of wood in my truck as a jack mat.
