Good morning!!!!

this is for all of us raised on sci fi like Heinlein or Bradbury:
will probably get me the hook...:D

My first job this morning is to clean the bathroom of the travel trailer, so I am in no rush to dive into that...
So in a futile attempt to delay,
may I invite you to consider:

When Aliens Arrive
A TBN exclusive
Orbjob and Xanthoid both looked happy. My 8 foot tall bright green centipede friend with the purple and black spots was happily covering
every lever in the cab of my Kubota, as he attacked the big dirt pile with the solid bucket grapple. The grapples were clacking away
like an alien language, was he communicating with the bugs and worms in the dirt to get away? After all, they had come in peace.
And by some minor miracle our first response was not to nuke them. And me along with it.
Which wouldn't apparently have done much to them anyway with their personal
shields. Remarkable tech. And since they landed in my orchard, and spied my bright red Massey sitting out there, they were
attracted like a bee to a flower.

Well, Xanthoid is sure no bee, but he's driving my MF around revving the engine and basically hooning it. Yo, easy on the turf there big guy.
And you might try low range instead. Surprising how good he is with all those levers and clutches. But then he's a tripedal humanoid with four arms, and
on that tractor, four arms and three legs are useful. He understands not to hit the barn or the fences and to slow down through the ditches.
He's making some kind of whistling noise, like a steam whistle. Clearly having a good time and he's staying out in the grassy fields.
Wonder if he always wanted one of these as a kid...

Whoa, now look at them. They've come together, nose to nose, and Xanthoid is putting his front tires in the bucket of the Kubota, which is lifting him up about three feet.
Geez, will you look at that, now they are spinning slowly in circles and figure eights connected together at the front.
How do they do that? Like some kind of
alien tractor waltz. Hmm, maybe these folks actually have some culture.
After all, first thing they wanted to do was drive the tractors.

These two emissaries from the far side of the Orion Belt have come for a short visit. Now if I can only get them off my tractors and over to the
barbecue table for lunch. Rather severe guy from NSA with chin mike keeps asking me to tell them to come to lunch.
Just another day on the farm.
to be continued

yeah, time for another cup of coffee. And now I really need to get to work.

Hi all.
Still up in Montana working. Got to go to a free tractor show and hit and miss engines expo here in Great Falls Saturday. Seen a lot of neat things.
Researching on the Ford 2N I brought home right before I left. I want to try to keep the cost down to 2000 or less as their values don't tend to run higher than that. 500 for the tractor and it looks like 600 for the rear tires is going to eat that up.
Once I get it working properly, I may trade it or sell it to move up a step to a live hydraulic and PTO system type tractor and start again on it. A guy had advertised a original Kubota from 1972 I wanted but he may be a flake I'm afraid.
Everyone have a good day. Heading down to coffee and out the door.

59F and cloudy @ 08:30. Big band of thunderstorms about a couple hours away ...

Spent all day yesterday splitting wood ... hands and joints are feeling it today.

Trip to Rural King and probably spend the rest of the day cleaning up the shop.

RNG,

I have a positive report for you on the ATP AT-205 Re-Seal.

Last night I parked the tractor on some pavement which sloped downward to the right - the side the leak was on.

This morning there was no gear lube on the pavement.

I pulled the dipstick just to make sure it hadn't all leaked out from using the tractor over the last several days ... the dipstick showed above full (likely due to being on an incline) ... which means that the area of the leak was definitely submerged in gear oil.

The product can be sourced from Summit Racing.

66 this morning and headed to 71 today. Currently raining.

Have a couple of repairs in the chicken coops. Then pay some bills.

41 headed to 70s today (cooler later this week)

Best night of sleep last night in months.

Daugen, enjoy the rv'ing. We are hoping to get out a couple more times before winterizing and putting trailer in storage.

61 and dark. Sure seems to take a long time for the sun to wake up these days.

Eric, since Coco decided something outside was more interesting than her bed at 1am, and loudly proclaimed it, I've already had a nap this morning. :)

Decided to pull the old core plug aerator behind the mower while I mowed yesterday. It's been a few years since it got some use. Nice, moist, soft ground cooperated. Then planted some grass seed in some of the high wear areas.

Might try to check out a Classic Car Cruise in late this afternoon. Toppop, any special cars I should be on the look out for?
Sorry Wngspread, I haven't been on this thread for a while. Did you see any cool cars? I'm partial to the not so popular, like full size cars, AMC, etc... Of course I like all the usual players as well.

No real signs of fall here either the only leaves falling are poplar and dogwood probably from the heat and extremely dry conditions that started in August and have been relentless. The applachain mountains are normally extremely colorful in the fall peaking mid October or so. Fall must be coming because the stink bugs have made themselves known and are trying their best to get in the house
We start losing black cherry leaves in August, now poplar, gum and some maples, dogwood, etc... are starting. But by and large still summer green.

Here are a few of my favorites from the car show...

We had a '57 Fairlane that looked just like that when I was a kid. Ours was a 6 with a stick. My aunt had a '58 like the one in the photo.

Beautiful fall weather here for the last few, and next several days, some rain tomorrow.

Good Morning! 70F @ 7:45AM. Abundant sunshine. High 94F. Winds light and variable.

Not much appeal in a crowded airport, but there's no place like home, David S.!

Kalifornia's not as successful at banning things before they become available, so it's likely they'll draft legislation that will make criminals out of otherwise law abiding phaser owners, Eric.

Never been a big fan of pumpkin anything except pie, and even then only during the holidays. You think pumpkin yogurt is bad? Try pumpkin coffee or even worse, pumpkin beer! :yuck: Maybe the thought of taking on a significant financial drain is daunting, Drew, but if you'd end up spending less money for the same service that's definitely the way to go. Less fuss tracking hours, less worry about paying for large effort events like wind storms and floods, and his track record is some assurance that what he does will be acceptable. You might want to talk to him before hand about how comfortable sharing your tractors and implements with aliens, though, as we all know it's just a matter of time.

RS, that's some MONSTER wood! No wonder you built that log lift. Thanks for the feedback on the seal swell. I'll get some on order this week.

Took care of a few loose ends on the van primer yesterday morning, then started getting organized for putting on the remaining doors. Found all the parts OK, though one bag was mislabeled "Back Door" when it should have been "Side Door". That's why there were two bags for the back and none for the side.:confused2: The pictures I took on disassembly were very helpful in putting the side door back on, which I did while waiting on the neighbor/helper to show up. Again I didn't take the time to get the alignment perfect, but it's good enough to get the paint on. I then got the plastic film cut and taped on for the side and driver's side door, and then the back door, so all openings were sealed. By that time it was three o'clock and still no sign of help, and no answers to text messages, either. So I got out the tractor, mounted the forks, covered the tines with a couple of old towels, and mounted the rear door myself. Probably the easiest way to do it anyway, though working under the forks made me nervous. So much so that I cross threaded the bolts on one side and had to use a tap to reform the threads, but even that came out OK. One adjustment was needed to get to good-enough, and that was it for the day. By that time I was pretty beat up anyway, as the temps were over 100F for the last couple of hours.

Today is supposed to be cooler, and all that's left is to wipe down the outside of the van one last time and rig up the four new light fixtures for the paint booth. Oh, and fiddle with the plastic a bit, hopefully to improve sealing. Temperatures didn't drop below 85F until 3AM this morning, so I hope today's cooler temperatures mean an earlier cool off tonight. Not supposed to be much wind at all today, so if that turns out to be the case I'll be able to get all the plastic on the booth well before sundown instead of finishing up in the dark like last time. Then just roll the van in, attach the door, and wait for the temps to drop into the sweet spot.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Yup ...

I'd estimate that round weighs over 500 lbs ... not something I'm going to be lifting up to set on the beam ... bad enough just handling it once it's up there ... even after it's split in half.

It sure ain't anything you wanna drop on your toes ... :D

Thanks for the feedback on the seal swell. I'll get some on order this week.
You're welcome ... quite frankly, I was surprised that it worked as well as it did ... given the amount of leakage I was experiencing.

It wasn't uncommon to see a 6" to 12" puddle of gear oil after it had sat overnight.

At the this point it's looking to be one of the better $10 purchases I've made ...

Good luck with your painting !

got a lot done today, mowed the orchard, worked on the Cub Cadet, killed tons of fire ants, moved the rv up to the garage without problems. Have it plugged in and not sure the Norcold fridge is working. Green light says it's getting juice, but no noise or cold. Guess I'll be calling them tomorrow. Worked when I put it away. Tried it on propane and it didn't seem to turn on with that either. Usually a green light is a happy indicator. Not yet

Nights are getting cooler. Some of you have your woodstoves on already I bet.

   / Good morning!!!! #50,236
Coldest day this fall 69˚ now and never got above 75˚today under thick clouds. The windows will be open tonight the first time since Spring.

I agree with Ed, Drew. Someone slipped something in your coffee.

I did a DNA test to find out I was in the right place when we went to trace our ancestors by the Germany boarder.

My AC came on about dark, for the first time since Saturday, humidity was rising ahead of a rainy system.

Good evening all. 63F and misting this morning, another .1 in. in the rain gauge. Today's high was 76F and less humid and clear by 3 PM. Not near as much rain as forecast yesterday, so did get mowing done today sweating profusely in the 70F weather. All the push mowing is done, will try some weed eating tomorrow and short bike ride. Thanks for the prayers and probiotics suggestion everyone! Should be able to get some tomorrow. Got some consulting done today, and heard from the truck people, should have paper work tomorrow. :cool2:
