Think SIL has a few more items for my attention today.
Made it to HF yesterday just for a few suitcase items, inncluding a new toplink.

Be safe.
Have a great day

Drew, be careful mowing that ditch.

Boy, do I look forward to mowing next week :)

It still amazes me how coastal areas can receive so much rain but dry out quickly compared to our local conditions which would take a week or more

Think it might depend on the soil. A neighbor took the Master Gardener course and I remember him saying our soil had the capacity to hold 125% water - I don't know what that really means. I have seen numerous times areas of "lakes" first thing in morning but not longer visible just hours after the rain stops. I'll have to remember to gets pics one of these days.

back from errands, finally broke down and got some Trimec for incredibly invasive weeds, almost little green lily plants, growing in my front yard.
Always trying to use low level, short acting weedkillers due to orchard nearby. 10% off storewide coupon at TSC had me on a nice little shopping trip this morning.
And
and
I almost did it.
But I didn't.
The rescue mission was setting up little kitties to adopt, right by the register, and one looked at me and just said take me home. Oh dear....
Maybe. A cat could come along in the truck or rv. It uses a litter box, so I don't have to hand pick up poop. That is a deal killer so far with a dog unless
someone already has one trained to go in the woods. Like they did on our farm growing up.

TSC gave me the coupon back, maybe I should go back tomorrow...
Tired of living by myself. Maybe a cat would be fun to have and good company.
Though many are aloof and haughty. Not for long with me, hit the road Jack, and don't you come back no more, no more....
I want/need a friendly cat. Not a neurotic Siamese, and one that doesn't shed.
Healthy would be nice.
And then you look at the little thing there saying take me home and love me and you forget everything...

Maybe like RS I should get my fish tank going instead.
Fish don't talk a lot though; only so much you can tell a fish.
am off to mow.

Dogs are better companions, but higher maintenance.

Ask Don, when whipper adopted them, he was not so sure about his need of a dog. Now, they let her inside when necessary. And, quite possibly, he's actually become quite attached to her. It took a lot of snake slingin' and varmint fending to work her way into Don's healthy heart. :)

Usta have a pound cat named Jethro. Pure black, and we eventually figured out it was Siamese. Had it trained to fetch rolled up gum wrappers, just like a dog. He loved playing fetch. But he also loved to dart out the door and escape into the neighborhood, and one day he didn't come back. Found him flatter than a pancake a couple streets over. Missed him, but not his litter box. Pheeeeeew!

71F and partly sunny @ 14:00 ... high today is only predicted to hit 74F after the clouds break.

Supposed to be nice tomorrow, then a chance of a TS on Monday, nice Tuesday, then chances of rain Wednesday through Saturday ... starting Tuesday the highs are only supposed to be in the 60's through Thursday ... not exactly great weather for things to dry out ... :(

Woke up after two hours ... 03:00 --->05:00 ... was up for a couple of hours then was able to fall back asleep. A real pity, since it was so nice today.

Couple of things left to do to get the splitter back in operation, then I might start splitting ... now that I've had some sleep.

Good afternoon all.72F this morning overcast, light wind. Wind has picked up made it to the forecast high and some showers were on the other side of the lake. Did get the poison ivy resprayed, more of it was wilted from the first spray than I expected. We had a carpenter pull some boards around the garage door opening, and now the van can drive into the garage. :cool2:  Pulled the nails from the board and now they are ready for reuse. I hear the nap calling, you need to eat to fuel the "machine".

A heads up to you guys.

Just talked to a neighbor. Two nights ago they had the oil drained out of 2 tractors and the antifreeze out of one. Just looks like vandalism. Tractors parked in sight of road outside beside a house.

Mostly a run around day, then watch football.
Gave a devo this morning at church mens breakfast, then took youngest to his last drivers ed session, bought some drywall and brought it home, then back to get my son.
Beautiful day out, but haven't been feeling the best the last couple days, so just sat and watched football and do some bills.
Did go to HS football game last night, not our HS. Watched a friends daughter play in the band, she had a solo part. Very good HS band, they do college level routines.

Draining peoples oil might get someone lead poison.

A dark morning here, with a mist that is wetting anything facing south. This is the second consecutive year with an abundance of fruits and seeds along the hedgerows. Not many other signs of autumn yet, apart from being deserted by the swallows. Scarcely a leaf has left a tree, they are still dark green and show little intention of falling at the moment. Can't be long now though, last night we had a little fire in the woodburner. It wasn't really all that cold, just sufficient to justify striking a match to enjoy that cosy warm glow as the nights draw in.

Drew, a cat or dog would make a great companion. Honest, after you have done it a few times, picking dog poop up is not an issue if it's on the right diet. Easier with a smaller breed. You can soon train them to poop where you want. A dog would love to go on vacation with you in the trailer.
If you like unexpected presents, cats will generally bring in far more than a dog. Yes, a cat sorts out it's own poops, but it does them wherever it wants. Your raised beds would be ideal :).

65 going to 72. Autumn is waking up after 88 yesterday.

Used the 3pt rake to do some erosion repair on a food plot, then picked up rocks and tilled and planted it. About 3 hours seat time. now need a soft rain.

Then met my wife (coming home from North Carolina) at the Classic Car show over near the interstate. Was going to post some pix, but our internet is molasses slow today.

Drew, it was nice having a dog as company while my wife was gone for a few days. Have had and loved many cats and they are interesting and fun at times, but have varied as far as affection, except they all loved themselves. Just my opinion, but I'd rather shovel dog poop from the yard than clean out litter boxes. Either way, a pet is great for the soul.

66 high of 83 before changes in the weather bring cool and damp weather into our forecast most of next week in 70s for highs 50s for lows. Sale of house on Monday then life is normal again with work our only concern. Very busy fall season upcoming I think.

Weather wise the first part of October could be very interesting and will set the stage for our winter weather. The gulf coast and East coast from Florida to North Carolina should be watching very closely as well as the the Mid West as there are lots of systems in play that if they all come together it could be very destructive in terms of wind rain storms and tropical systems. Lots of potential systems if they all come together.

This will set the stage for our winter and if it all happens then a clearer picture of our upcoming winter unfolds. But as with most everything nothing is set in stone and it becomes a wait and see proposition

One job to look at today then some shrubs need my attention

No real signs of fall here either the only leaves falling are poplar and dogwood probably from the heat and extremely dry conditions that started in August and have been relentless. The applachain mountains are normally extremely colorful in the fall peaking mid October or so. Fall must be coming because the stink bugs have made themselves known and are trying their best to get in the house

Drinking first cup of coffee. 48° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 72° with mostly sunny skies. Taking a trip to Port Huron today to visit family. Maples on fence line are starting to turn red.
Drew, our Shih Zsu has been a great dog. I know, not a mans dog. But a great companion. Likes outdoors if you are there. Leaves small droppings out away from house. Never the same place twice. Likes to travel. But does require monthly hair grooming. Son taught their Shih Zsu to ring a bell at back door when it wanted outside. Wife is allergic to cats. Many cats have problems with traveling in a car/truck.
Good Morning All.

Ed glad you made it home safe 81 is not for the weak at heart did not used to be that way but is now

At one time 81 between 64 and 66 was the busiest rural interstate in the east. That has been a while but it is not getting better. Ed
