54F going to 86 and clear here in Corona.
Saw a tractor yesterday, disc harrow on back. Absolutely no idea where it was going or coming from, this place is so brown and dry. Nor have I seen a lot big enough for even a compact tractor.

Be safe
Have a great day.

Drew, you have that right - 3 more flight until home. I just don't care for it anymore, and this is a guy who was an air traffic controller and briefly considered airport management as a career path.

Finally got the yard trimmed and mowed last night. Not a fan of weed eating, but far better than the old days with the clippers/scissors. Did not park the rider until after 9 pm. We had a large dark cloud give us some shade relief right before sundown which prompted me to get 'er done.

Today is one of our "off every other Friday" Fridays. Need to go clean up the Dayton 7 x 11 metal horizontal bandsaw. Anyone need a good deal on it? I don't want to ship it, too heavy and costly. It could come with a good cup of coffee.
This is the model
DAYTON 1 HP Horizontal Band Saw, Voltage':' 12'/'24, Max. Blade Length':' 93" - 21UM99'|'21UM99 - Grainger

Wifey just made me my favorite coffee. HEB decaf southern pecan coffee with a shot of powdered chocolate milk and some half n half. Yes, a lot going on in one big cup of coffee. But I wasn't in the Navy, so I had a tough time drinking it black.

My complaint about Costco. Not very scratch resistant. My last glasses were from Walmart. Much better scratch resistant. Will have to try Kyle's choice next time.

Never had Costco glasses, but been very happy with Walmart glasses last 10 years. Only issue was losing a nose piece but convenient to get replaced.

I failed progressive training many years ago with some LensCrafters glasses, went back to regular bifocals.

75F and sunny @ 10:30 ... partly sunny early and then cloudy with a high of 85F.

The kid stopped by yesterday to say goodbye ... flies out today and starts the new job on Monday. Quite the adventure I'm sure.

After he left I threw some of that ATP AT-205 Re-Seal that TBN member ns_in_texas recommended in the Kubota to see if it would slow down the leakage in the right front wheel/axle ... to see if I can put off the repair until the weather isn't quite as nice.

Then tore into the wood pile and started staging rounds to be split. Also got some of the logs that haven't been bucked yet pulled out of the pile so they can be cut up. Probably do a little more of that today ... along with finishing up a few things on the splitter so it can be used. It's supposed to cool down tomorrow, with a high of only 73F ... will probably try and get some splitting done then. Hopefully I can get some help from the neighbor kid.

Need to keep an eye on the weather for rain, so I can be sure to get the grass cut and picked up before it arrives.

I can still remember checking in for start of fall semester classes at the University of Vermont in Burlington during snow squalls in early September.
But the snow was always gone by June.

Good Morning! 65F @ 9:15AM. Plenty of sunshine. High 79F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.

Hope you're feeling better today, Mostly. Food poisoning is one of the worst! :yuck:

manzanita.jpg
Picked up another couple buckets full of what was supposed to be slash from the hillside, but most of it was 2"+, some of it stumps with 6" trunks. Real tractor killers. Also found a large area of manzanita that had been sifted from the windrows and ditched by the excavator operator instead of stacked as requested. Nothing like having a huge amount of fuel at the bottom of a hill below your house. Managed to dig a rough trail to it with the box blade and FEL, enlarging the landing that they had the chipper parked on in the process. It's tight, but now I can turn the tractor around on that landing, and get to the top of where the new wood is located. In the process I found out that at about a 30 degree incline the hydraulics on the Kubota go dead, and since I was trying to go uphill at the time, left me freewheeling backwards. After a brief pucker, both feet standing on the brakes was enough to get the thing stopped, and by that time the incline had eased and power returned. Won't try that again.

Sent the above pic to a manzanita loving friend of mine in hopes he'll come over and get that downed wood. I know he'll appreciate it, and I've had enough death defying tractoring to last the rest of the year. I think we can get his pickup pretty close, or I might help him load the FEL a few times and ferry it up to my little wood yard for him. I'll let him decide.

College is back in session, and traffic in and out of Chico has gotten bad late in the day. The local community collage has a satellite south and east of town on my route, and the freeway portion of my drive was lucky to go 45 mph. This after two people pulled out from side roads causing me to hit the brakes HARD to keep from rear ending them, and then not even doing the speed limit. Can't say they didn't see me coming, that big chrome cattle guard on the front of the F250 is kinda hard to miss.:irked:

Today I hope to get a good start on sanding out the rest of the primer on the van. Lots of water, lots of sandpaper, lots of elbow grease.

TGIF gang!

I've had leaks around the front wheel hub covers on my tractor, too, even breaking out one of the covers (in my opinion they are under designed and flex under load, especially on side hills). It's leaking again with this last bit of work, and this time it's coming from the steering pivots on both sides. So far I'm just toping up the oil level, but keep us posted on the Re-Seal. That sounds a lot easier than tearing the thing apart again.

is this the modern version of sawdust?...
always wondered how something meant to gunk things up would work well in gear or bearing situations but then I'm sure no mechanical engineer.
Now plugging a leak in a tire? yes.
RNG, how many hours on your tractor? wondering when these kind of leaks start to occur.
I noticed the front rubber boots on my Kubota's steering arms are ripped, one wrecked and one not so good. 4 years, maybe they take a lot of abuse from brush.
Need to order a pair. Going to look online for that.
RNG, glad you're safe. Be careful on those slopes.

3 hours of mowing lawn, driving around lakes in the lawn, but got most of it done. Utterly trashed the mower, had to powerwash it when I was done.
Helper is out raking up the lawn debris. I put my four hours in, I'm done...
Rain may not come later, which is just fine. After nine inches of rain in three days no more needed.
You all have a great weekend. Roy, sleep in.

Yup ... I've seen some reports of stub axles breaking off on B-series ... asked the wrench at the local dealers about it and he said they hadn't run into it ... but covers/housings breaking were another matter. Apparently he'd seen a few of those.

It's leaking again with this last bit of work, and this time it's coming from the steering pivots on both sides.
Yup - that's exactly where it's been coming out of mine.

I got into some pretty bad mud at one point, and they got caked up pretty good. I didn't hose them off and the mud eventually dried ... think it probably worked its way into the gap, doing a number on the seal.

Actually, at one point the left and right seals were both leaking ... the left seems to have mostly stopped, but the right was still leaking pretty good.

So far I'm just toping up the oil level, but keep us posted on the Re-Seal. That sounds a lot easier than tearing the thing apart again.
First report as of this morning is that there was still gear oil showing up on the dipstick after using it for 3 or 4 hours yesterday with the additive in it ... that's a start.

Will keep ya posted.

Don't think so ...

It's not meant to "gunk things up" ... it's supposed to soften hardened rubber seals.

The product is actually fairly thin ... not thick and gunky ... ;)

2040.3 hours, Drew. Probably time for new hydro and engine filters/oil. The hub cover leaks have been going on a long time, probably since 1300 hours or so, or four years. I've changed out the o-rings twice, and gone to high strength bolts around the covers with thread locker, and that seems to have stopped the bolts from backing out but not the leaks. The pivot leaks have only been going on for the last hundred hours or so.

The boots on this tractor have been torn by brush, and I'll replace them when I have it apart for the steering seals. Probably this winter.

RNG, glad you're safe. Be careful on those slopes.

I do things VERY slowly on the slope, slow enough that I can hopefully catch something before it becomes a problem. Yesterday's episode shows that odd, unexpected things can come out of nowhere, though, even going slow. In fact the first sign was the FEL arms and bucket drooping, then forward motion stopped, then it started rolling backwards. Not much to be done under those conditions but to stomp the brakes, which turns out to be a pretty natural reaction.

The consequence of going slow is that things take longer: That 30' of trail took most of an hour and a half. Better safe'n'slow than sorry though.

There's no dip stick on the front axel of my L series. I guess I'll just use the British system, and when the oil stops coming out it's time to add more, huh?

Good afternoon all. 70F this morning, clear and calm. Fore cast for 90F HI 95F+ light winds overcast skies. Last couple of days have been feeling better especially in mornings. Working on getting a storm shelter, Cooke county has a program that will pay half for approved shelter so met with them this morning to go over the ground rules. Going to go spray some poison ivy next store, we cleaned it out a while and sprayed it once, got some fresher stuff from a friend and will try it.

Another visit to doctor this morning (one of my least favorite things)... First time I saw this doc, old guy that had done his homework (on my records and chest xray). He said there are lots of names for it, but basically some sort of airway/lung problem that is helped by asthma medicines. My wife was familiar with all the drugs he mentioned. He is putting me on heavy dose of steroids to get things back to normal, then preventative inhaler along with rescue inhaler. The preventative is very expensive and requires additional authorization by insurance so it will be a few more days before I can fill that one (assuming it is approved). Doc said I should sleep better tonight and by tomorrow night almost symptom free.

I am hopeful that it will improve that quick, it is very tiring to be wheezing all the time and coughing often. Sleeping has been a challenge for the last 6 months or more.

hope you are breathing easier Hawkeye.
Mostly, I need to build some kind of shelter here also.
I think there is room to do something in my garage.

Breathing easier, is it because we have a plan now? perhaps.

What kind of shelter are you needing? I have my shop so full of things needing shelter, I have no room to do anything. Been thinking about buying a costco carport (~$200) and parking Kubota outside..
