Good Morning! 73F @ 7:30AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 94F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Nice weekend; met up with lots of old friends at the motorcycle rally, met some new friends, even saw some once-a-year friends I only see there. Sampled some of the best roads in the area with a fella I'd met for the first time earlier this year at a campout near Camp Nelson, CA; my turn to show him around the neighborhood. Also nice to get away from tractoring and log lifting, but was home by noon yesterday and still got a few more hours in at that. Cleared all the way around the down hill side of the pile, so it looks like I'll be able to get the tractor all the way around to the other side and work my way back up the hill as I fill the bucket. It'll still be steep, but there's not as much side hill so it'll be safer.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start!

startled was a really good way to describe me when turning the corner at the end of my orchard, having left the far gate open to get in, here's an almost adult deer running around inside the fence with me. Deer came out of woods, walked three hundred feet across the fields, and right in the door. Now that's inquisitive and/or he could smell something good to eat in there. No fruit, fruit leaves apparently beat forest leaves because those deer want to get in.

So...I rev up the motor on the mower and head towards the deer, which now panics and bounces off two sides of the fence without damage thankfully and finally got turned around and realized the way out, making a beeline for the woods. I'm in there making all kinds of noise with the JD diesel mower and in he strolls.
I guess i have to shut the gate behind me.

Which reminds me of current discussions of critters getting inside. Leave the gate or door open, for sure doesn't take even the bigger critters long to get in. Am thinking of the cute little bright green gecko that stared at me in front of the toilet one morning. At least I hope he ate a spider or two while he was inside. Adorable little critters, I always try to preserve them. Now the deer, that's just venison steak on the hoof to me. And I probably had legal cause to shoot it because it was inside my property doing damage, somewhere... I've never shot a deer in my life. Keep telling my neighbor to set up a .30 cal on a tripod.

Put all the implements, tractors and boat away and flying to Abilene this evening and Montana Wednesday for a month or so on the job. This work thing sure gets in the way of my projects.

Looked at the hydraulics briefly on the 2n but it doesn't appear to be any thing easy so I'll drop the pump out when I get home after a little bit more in depth testing per internet info I learned last night. Winter project I guess.

Everybody have a good one.

local Ace hardware owner gave me 20% off if I'd buy a case of twelve of the fire ant killer that I've found works the best. I've bought more than a dozen in the last two years from them at 16 bucks a pop. Don't want to put long term acting ant killer down in the lawn, too many good bugs around. So I spot treat.

Lenny, fly safely and take pictures. David, fly safely back to paradise.

Rain is coming down lightly, looks like several inches now predicted. I got all the mowing done and all my errands run so time to chill. Which I think includes several loads of wash. I might sit in the garage and put a little wax on the car while the ran patters down. Plenty warm out. Tomorrow is supposed to be wet also.

You are going to need a boat soon Drew.

My Dad called and said one side of his craftsman riding mower is not cutting right. I told him to run the motor at full throttle when mowing, I hope that solves it. Any other thoughts, he put on new blades a few months ago and has good soft lawn grass.

The rain has been very considerate and got it over with in the night, so everywhere is starting to nicely dry up again. I made an old fashioned paper list yesterday of the jobs I still want/need to do in the dry before the weather really turns. Some will take hours and others days, but at least I felt good at working out a sensible order to do them in. This morning, as I've sat down with my cup of tea, I see my wife has been adding to it :(

Don, It only sounds fair for froggy to move in with you if the tree you felled was his home. At least your wife may resist the temptation to turn that one into a handsome prince.
I've been waiting for cooler weather to get started.

Keep your vertical exhaust, and add a snorkel intake to the Massey.

Farmer, hope your older boy gets better quickly.

Good morning. Another great day, weather wise, to be out and about, but it feels like the end of the holidays for me too.

Can't imagine how bad it must feel to get to the end of a long vacation like Sodamo. All the poor man can now look forward to, is getting back home and being greeted in paradise by two devoted dogs :)

I really ought to stay in and get on with some engineering work today. For a couple of weeks now I have been putting off preparing some ISO 9001 verification tests. They are important, although not half as satisfying as being out cutting fire wood. Maybe just do a half day at a desk, to ease me back into things ;).

Hawkeye, are you back too to your normal Tuesday work routine, with the little one checking how you are doing ?
