Here you go...

The rifle, a 10/22 carbine, had the standard wooden stock. Not a bad looking stock, actually.
The Hogue is a better grip and definitely a better butt pad.
The wooden stock has a barrel band. That's not used with the Hogue stock, so the barrel is free-floating

Roy, that stock looks good. I bet it's much more comfy than the original, especially against your cheek on a cold day.

For me a smaller 10 shot mag would have more appeal. That big 25 round mag makes it look too almost too well endowed - a bit like that Japanese pole vaulter in the Olympics who would have cleared the bar if it hadn't been for his dangling bits

Good morning all. No rain in prospect, a light wind and only thin wisps of cloud. September weather at it's best.

Today is hopefully the last time to mow off creeping thistle and the regrowth on the rush. I may have used a few more gallons of diesel than before, but other than that, my trial year of not spraying herbicides on the fields hasn't gone too badly.

nothing like meat and cheese to greet you in the morning for breakfast, right David?
German-Style Rolls: Brotchen (the crusty secret is an egg white glaze) | Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day
I had to look up the rolls; looks like quality carbs for sure. Any sauerbraten and spaetzle yet?

Rain is coming in this afternoon so I think I'll wash the car and sharpen the blades on the mower. That should be enough for a Sunday...and I try not to make any noise here on Sunday mornings.

Mostly, now you can't slip in a new to you truck without some more explanation. What did you get?

today is last day of heat, rain will cool things down and then the next week will be about five to ten degrees cooler. Fine.
Leaves on orchard trees starting to turn colors.

My next door neighbor is not going to be happy with the tenant farmer next door spraying corn cobs fifty feet into his manicured lawn. I wonder what farming etiquette is here and if they came back and tried to clean up any of it. I really don't care about corn cobs in my area, they will compost but all of this mess has to be raked before he can mow in there. Both of us are headed to the farmer next door, with his falling down greenhouses and general mess and tell him his renter has to stay back another ten feet next year.
If I put up barb wire down the row, I think the combine would stay away...but I'd rather start off by being nice first.

74 going to 87 and then a cool down.

Nice looking cars and hot rods in beautiful Long Beach. Thank for sharing the photos.

Real nice job on that .22, Roy and I know you're happy with your shooting.

David, you're making us all hungry! Thank for taking us along on your journey. Glad a tractor appeared.

Hatch chile cheese, Hatch chile bread, and two bags of chiles made it home with us yesterday. Wegman's had baked or cooked Hatch chiles into a number of foods, including chocolate chip cookies. Was disappointed that they didn't make their Hatch chile chili, so we'll do our own. For dinner Myla made hot Italian sausage stuffed chiles in the oven and a big salad. Today I roast some on the grill.

Decided not to till yesterday since I had the bush hog on the tractor and had about 1.5 acres I still wanted to cut. Had a tree frog jump on my neck when I cut the row closest to the trees...how can a creature so small do such a big pee on me? :) Was disappointed that the purple martins and swallows did not appear while I was rustling up a bunch of grasshoppers and leafhoppers for them. I don't think they've flown south yet, although a number of our hummingbirds are already gone.

Wife says I've a good start on gaining 20lbs :(
Not sure what they charge for breakfast if you can get in from outside but it was every bit as varied and good as the one in Berlin that was €21 each. Our room and breakfast was €89 total.

It is more comfortable, no doubt. I don't think you Brits are allowed to have any semi-autos for personal protection (or any other reason), but I've read the government is getting some push back on that
I use the 10 rounder more frequently because I like to look at the target to see where I'm shooting. For beer can plinking, the 25 rounder is fine.
As far as the pole vaulter...that's news to me. There's a joke there...but it would probably get my post deleted and claims of "insensitivity"

Any sauerbraten and spaetzle yet?

Sauerbraten isn't something I'd normally choose off a menu any more than pot roast, but if the offering of a fixed menu I would thoroughly enjoy.
Spätzle, on the other hand, I'd pick in a heartbeat.

While not officially checked into ship. We are onboard. Light lunch being offered:

A sad anniversary today...15 years since 9/11/2001 and all those deaths. What makes it even sadder is I've read about a number of protests planned to defile the American flag today. I hope none come to be. One should love their country...that doesn't mean loving the government...governments should always be looked upon with skepticism and never be trusted 100%. But that flag represents the country as a whole and the folks who died defending it.

68 right now and a bit muggy...pretty foggy outside. Today's high is the low 70's and maybe a thunderstorm
Got some work type work today...revise two presentations. After that, probably some week trimming...than just puttering around.
