72 going to 90s all week and humid. Typical summer finally here after a mostly cool and wet spring...last two days, high in 60s.

Yesterday, after roasting a coffee blend I named Independence Day Red White and Blue, went over to oldest son's to a nice cookout and birthday party.

On way home last night, saw hundreds of cars parked along the highway waiting for the big fireworks show put on by the King's Dominion amusement park. We used to take the kids to that. Maybe would have stayed this year, but like some of your dogs, Coco doesn't seem to think fireworks are very cool.

Drew, I need to change the grease in my 3 pt tiller, so am learning a lot from your work.

Buppies, now just do what you tell me to do: chill, and enjoy!!

seriously hot day today, but apparently that way for many of us.
High nineties with heat index of 108. Yuk. Not working outside in that.
But I can sit on my little work seat, and I will put that gasket on, after another scrape (I figured using the
secondary goop on the gasket would make tiny "crust" not an issue, but yeah, only do this once, I'll make it shine.
and then little circles around the studs. Glad I got the larger tube...

Hopefully my teenage helper will show up this morning and I'm going to try to work out a schedule with a lot more hours for him.
I had hoped I would not get to this reality this soon but I guess I have to pay him to ride my lawnmower. I'll do the parts over the roots, in delicate places, and let him do the big open areas. Will try to limit him to 5-6 hours a day; no way he will hold up in this heat doing outside work.
I've been mowing lawns over 60 years, started out doing 7 acres a week on our family farm and now 8 acres to mow. Probably time to slow down a bit.

Went to a fun dinner party down by the River last night but all us adults were old enough we all ran out of steam in the heat and humidity and called it quits right before 9pm. I drove home through town and saw the fireworks going off which was fun. The day had cleared up wonderfully, bad storm dodged, and boats were out everywhere on the river. Lots of kids riding tubes behind boats and jetskis. Looks like a good time was had by all.

. . . . . . . . . This use to be coal country. But Peabody Coal no longer operates a mine in the area . . . . .

I have a contractual obligation to play this song every time I hear Peabody Coal. . . . . .

Good Morning! 64F @ 5AM. Sunny. High 92F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Ha! Another John Prine fan!

More sanding on the agenda today, and just appreciating the cooler weather.

Enjoy the shortened work week folks!

Good Morning. 0720, clear, 74F with 99% humidity. Forecast high of 92F with 20% chance of thunderstorms today, and a low of 77F tonight.

I bought extra of everything last week, so I get to take the day off from my usual shopping trip to town. Most of the thrift stores are closed anyway. I will go into work this afternoon though. Other than the garden, not sure what I'm doing today.

You guys have a good one,

Larro

75 this morning and headed to 86 today.

Very wet out but have plenty to do in chicken coops.

Buppies know what you mean.

Nice porch. Sorry can't remember who.

Larro. Yelp a song about the area. (I'm guessing it was Peabody's coal train. Couldn't watch it. )Peabody strip mined over 45,000 acres in western KY. The power plant I referred to is the TVA Paradise plant. My farm backs up to the Homestead Surface Mine. It's open to public hunting. Main reason I have quit deer hunting. It's just hunted too hard, people everywhere.

Good morning all. 76F and thunderstorms this morning. Have 1 in rain forecast and a hi of 97F. I had planned on riding early to beat the worst of the heat but will wait till it dries out. Have consulting and billing to finish this week, get boat propped up and draining, and deliver some payments while biking. Going to town for groceries and talk to the repair people on the chain saw. RNG it is a MS170. Just looked online the idle adjustment is on the saw, not the carb.

72F and cloudy @ 10:00 ... clearing and humid later, high predicted to hit 86F.

Spent yesterday afternoon in town. Got front mowed down and raked up, have to go back in here in a little bit and get the back done.

Gotta love the scam the city runs on this. They send you a notice telling you you're in violation of the high grass/weeds ordinance and you have 5 days to clean it up - otherwise they will cut it and bill you for it (plus an "administrative fee" of $200.00) The clock starts ticking as of the date of the notice ... not the day you receive it.

Last year we got the notice on the 4th or 5th day. We immediately headed in and started working on it. They didn't cut it, we did (and took pictures)

I even went so far as calling the number on the letter and telling them it had been cut and I didn't want to see no bill from them. Lady sez "Oh, if you get a bill just call us ..."

Shyeah, right ... about a month later bill comes in the mail.

That should have been the tip-off - that it was some kind of scam and they were actually billing for work they didn't do.

This year the notice was dated 6/28 ... it arrived in our mailbox on 7/2 ... the 5th day.

Since the post office doesn't guarantee delivery in a specified time, I suggest you ask the township for the delivery receipt from that "registered" letter/bill.

Had some rain yesterday, but cooked roadside BBQ chicken, good stuff! Hot today, low 90's, feels worse after two days in the low 70's.

So I'm standing in a ditch, knocking off fire ants, 100 degrees, 100 miles from home, looking at a blowout tire on my trailer, thinking of poor Whipper who was attacked by something having surgery and 60 stitches to patch up her belly thinking this kind of day is making Ed's tea by the pool look better and better.

Sorry about whipper and your day Don

Whipper will spend the night at the vet.
Sitting in discount tire waiting for new tires to be installed. We should be back to normal by tomorrow
