62 this morning and headed to 85 today.

Well my work really begins today. All 4 barns of chickens leave this afternoon and tonight. So my day will be eat up there. Helper is coming back today so will be easier than trying to do it all alone.

Kyle. Big difference in those two.

Nice +80- Deere tubes Kyle.

If nothing else Pfister has a good warranty. New faucet on the way. Since it has a lifetime warranty I'm looking to get a new one every 6 years. Well, I think one is on the way the accent was a little hard to understand, I'll find out in about a week. . . .

I've found that pfister has a pretty good service. The worst was Moen, who have the biggest share of the market. Oddly, I think Pfister is a New Zealand company. Not saying that nz folks are odd, ....

Good morning! 75˚ and cloudy. I have to go to M&Ds today and measure tin. They also had wind damage the same incident that I had BH damage, but after their $500 deductable all I have to work with is $90.
I had to re-submit my claim on the BH. Ins. called yesterday and said a check was in the mail. Kubota also had to relpace bushings and a hydraulic line along with the clinder and hose and connections. In the end I had about $1,600 of damage of which I only had to pay $150.
My warranty claim with Pfister says "processing", whatever that means, Ill have to call later. ??

Ed, at least half of my maintenance jobs would be gone with a move.

64.3F and sunny @ 09:00 ... calling for a high of 80F today, 83F tomorrow ... sunny both days. Should be good for getting things dried out.

Didn't do any spraying yesterday ... something tells me I probably ought to see about getting some done today, since we've got possible thunderstorms by Thursday.

Temps will be heading up into the high 80's on Friday and Saturday, with the possibility of thunderstorms each day. The high temps should help keep things fairly dry ... unless we get some of those Texas frog-stranglers.

May need to switch gears and start doing some work on the area around the polebarn if it's dry enough ... at a minimum, see if I can't get all the weeds cut down and leaves picked up so the ground will actually dry out.

Thanks guys ... it's a labor of love to be sure ... with no end in sight ...

Mkr, I'm jealous of your lift. I want to replace my five 8' fluorescent fixtures, in my workshop, with 8' LED fixtures. They hang, on chains, 16' above floor. A lift like that would sure make the job easier and safer.

RNG, have you wanted a fixed up VW van for some time? I know nothing about the one's you are working on. Are they really holding their value when fixed up? What about them has piqued your interest?

I've needed something other than the F250 as a grocery getter, and had long thought about a small Toyota pickup or something. But I also wanted a camper capability, but could never bring myself to pull the trigger on a slide in camper for the Ford. Years ago a friend of mine had a Vanagon camper that we used to go to mountain bike trail heads. It still had the VW engine in it, and was really slow, especially up hill, and he had quite a bit of trouble keeping it running. But what a nice place to come back to at the end of the ride, with fresh water on tap, a comfortable set of seats, frig full of beverages, and plenty of room for all our gear. And it was small enough to park anywhere. I was pointed to the mechanic that's doing the Subaru engine swap by one of my motorcycle buddies, and I'd been watching the flow of projects through his shop as he did various repairs on the Ford. This last time around he just happened to have gotten a non-running Syncro and had already planned to do the Subaru swap, along with big Audi brakes and a much better air conditioning setup, so that got me thinking that I could kill two birds with one stone: An around town grocery getter that would also double as a camper. With a receiver hitch I can carry a dirt bike on the bumper, and with a propane heater and stove/microwave, use it all year long. And with 4WD there are no worries about getting up my driveway in bad weather. You could say that all the pieces just serendipitously fell together. And besides, not having anything else to do with my time, I really needed another project. :confused2:

Vans that have been rebuilt, particularly the Westfalia/Syncro version like the one I'm working on, are skyrocketing in price:
TheSamba.com :: VW Classifieds - 1991 Syncro Westy Full Camper with 2.5 Subaru

Mine won't have all the gee gaws of the one in the ad, but I'm starting with a new Subrau block that will have all new internals as well as either new or rebuilt everything else. So it will be a brand new van, with all the known weaknesses of the original Vanagon/Westfalia/Syncro addressed. If I end up not liking it or wanting something different, I don't think I'll have any trouble getting my investment back.

Rick, This thing is a beast, My neighbor got it at an auction about 12 years ago. We built his 60x100 pole barn kit with it and it has car tires so it can run off concrete some if need be. The thing is old and sloppy but will go up 30' if you are on level ground. Has a gas Onan engine that runs the lift and drive system.
If you just need to do your lights I think you can rent the small battery operated one for a good price. At least around here you can.

Good Morning! 63F @ 10:30 AM. Sun and clouds mixed. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 74F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

David, good deal on diagnosing the battery problem and finding a suitable and affordable replacement. Home Power magazine seems to be chock full of battery ads these days. No wonder at the prices you describe!

RS, once again yer makin' the rest of us look bad.

Got the modified battery hold down installed and everything appears to be working properly, but the only handlebars I'll have in my hands today will be on the Stihl FS250 with the hedge trimmer attachment, going after all those spots of grass I couldn't reach with the flail mower. Should get the headliner and interior panels stripped out of the van this afternoon if I've got any gumption left to work with.

Have a good 'un, guys!

I want to say I might have seen a half a bucket full of that ambition over next to the "roundtuit"

4wd, I learn something new everyday. I want the same thing, only based off of an army vehicle. :)

Yeah, but, if I had one like yours I could add a recliner, beer cooler, and TV for breaks between lights.

Don't think they are from down here. Checked the phone book and there are 6 people with that surname. The only 'business' is a truck haulage company.

Us being odd....I couldn't possibly comment :cool2:
