Roy I now know what you had, I just got it myself. Runny nose, gunk in the back. Our only contact is on here so it has to be a computer virus. Ed

not a happy sight outside this morning. All my potatoes were wilted to the ground. Lot of flowering trees and plants including blueberies look unhappy. Amaryllis is not long for this world but the next two are probably ok. I wonder if those potatoes will recover.

Good evening all. 56F this morning, mostly clear but wind picked up early in the morning, some increase in clouds and a high of 74F. Morning bike ride, brake lever came loose during ride, repair this afternoon, watched arrival of medal of honor winners to Gainesville, convoy lasted 15 minutes on I-35.

Interesting day started paving after lunch both tracks came off at once and with full hopper of mix mot good at all. Cat repair comes to rescue got tracks back on with cranes then readjusted hydro cylinders. What they don't know is why into shop it goes tomorrow. Scratched out asphalt in paver as it was getting cold then went back to work. Should have finished by 4:30 but with this issue did not finish until 7:30. At least we got done. Rain tomorrow I'm afraid

A wet and windy good morning from me.

In the UK our tax year starts on April 6th (yes I know that must sound weird to some of you, we are a nation of historical quirks), so it was time to close off the books and start again yesterday. It always takes me a while to find the motivation to do it all, although one thing I noticed already is that for the second year running I have been spending more on agricultural machinery and tools than I ever used to before. By a strange coincidence, that's about how long I have been reading TBN ...

... Peach trees here bloomed early due to the mild winter, several orchards are using helicopters to stir the air and raise temps a couple of degrees ...

That's an interesting solution, I wonder how often they have to fly over for it to be effective ?

29 right now...heading up to 52 today. Looks like a rainy day ahead of us.

Yeah...feeling much better, but not 100%. Still some congestion in the lungs, but nothing like it was over the weekend, Monday and Tuesday. I'm guessing it was the flu.

rain here too, 57 going up to high sixties in rain. I have a lot of grass seed down so the rain is welcome. Now if it would only fix the flora that froze yesterday morning...
I guess I"m going to have to get some more potatoes and plant in between the rows. If the foliage doesn't come back up, these taters I assume are goners.

the beginning of these Kiefer pears looks promising and the string trimmer wasn't hard to undo, no damage at all. No no no you shouldn't eat that...
Today in the rain I work inside the barn on both my trimming mowers, one with a loose belt, one with winter crud that won't start. I can get the belt back on, I'm reasonably certain, but what keeps flinging it off when the idler pulley and spring all seem to be working just fine. Maybe I need a stronger spring... good rainy day job.

I raked the lawn for over an hour yesterday picking up thatch that had come loose when I ran, no surprise, the rental dethatcher. My lawn is heavily thatched, very thick in areas, no way is it getting fertilizer again for a while. I have a lightweight spring dethatcher that pulls behind the lawn mowers, vs. the motorized one I rented which is way more aggressive hence my raking, and I need to remember to pull that around occasionally to loosen things up. The lawn is a varied mix of fescue, centipede and Bermuda. All the areas I patch come up a different color. And die at different times. With this much lawn, I'm happy it's just green...well, it will be one hopes with all the tlc given to it, dethatching, raking, reseeding, etc etc It's actually starting to green up now, this rain should kickstart it.

Good morning all. 48 here at 6:30 this am and going to 59. Woke up to rain just before 5:00 and It sure sounded good, I love the sound of rain.

Daugen I have heard that you should hill your potatoes if a frost is coming and that the little sticking out will die and turn black but that no real damage done. If you did not hill them I don't know but I would not assume they are dead and till them in just yet. Ed

45.1F and cloudy with some light rain ...

That's pretty much it for the high today, rain is supposed to continue throughout the day.

After today, we're back in the freezer for a couple days, until Monday when the high is supposed to be 59F (but rain ... :()

Got a good bit done on the grapple yesterday, fabbed up two 6" and four 3" gussets out of 1/4" plate and got them all welded in, cut a couple pieces of 10 ga sheet to be welded inside the masts/towers as hose protection and got the two 5" pieces of 2" pipe half welded in on the bottom where the QA plate goes.

Today I will likely stand up the lower jaw, get the two 10 ga sheets for hose protection and the lower two 5" long 2" diameter pipes fully welded in, then get the QA plate tacked/welded on. May need to make up a few more gussets for the QA plate itself ... assuming I have enough area to weld them on.

If I get the QA plate welding done, I might have to take the lower rake portion out for a little testing, if the rain lets up ... :D

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day.

thanks Ed. I'm going to wait a few days and see if new green comes out. If not, going to leave them, and plant along side them. They were really too small to hill yet, a few had gotten large enough for me to push some extra soil "on top" but most were little. Time will tell Drew

RS, you can't fool us with that grapple talk. probably the elevator shaft for your miniature Eiffel Tower...;)
btw, some fish pics? Maybe one with the Squeak sitting nearby licking his chops...or is he/she a she?

61°F and raining in Jessup, Ga, warm and dry on the Silver Meteor enroute to Ft Lauderdale.
Riding the trains has been an experience- each of the four very different, except the menu. I'd do it again :)

Be safe
Have a great day

54 and light rain, but more heavy stuff seen out the front windows. Should get to 62.

Took the mower deck off and diagnosed my steering problem - stripped gears and unfortunately stripped threads on the steering rod too. This happened on the one day someone else used it. Coincidence maybe, but it has happened before. Not a sturdy design for the front suspension and steering. I can't figure how to get the steering rod to slip out since there is a flange/collar on the middle part of the rod. Maybe I can find a repair manual online.

That is how you want them. If you bury them the frost can't hurt them. I got that from my favorite garden book, Dick Raymonds, Joy of gardening. Ed

Good morning! 47˚ but warming to 87˚.

Today is odds and ends day. Many little one hour maintenance projects will fill the day. . . and maybe a nap . . .
