Good morning,
Just opened my eyes at 8:00. Slept so so. Arm was kind of bad last night. A trip to Menards to get plugs for the mower is the only plan for today. Looks like the other parts are close to getting here as they show out for delivery. So maybe I will finish up the mower service today.

I don't know about the JD zero turn but the Cub also has switches on the steer handles that will shut down the blades. .

Farmer, better hope that stinker is not up in the dryer.

Nice looking monster Grapple Rick!

44.6F and sunny at the moment ... supposed to head up to 56F, could be a beautiful day.

If the sun stays out I'll get some seat time in, once it warms up a little.

Spent most of yesterday cleaning and handling paperwork. Set my glasses down somewhere day before yesterday ... still can't remember where, or find them, so that kinda sucks. Will need to dig up an old pair, if I drive anywhere.

Might take a shot on getting the bypass valve for the water softener replaced today, so I can change the filter.

Also need to call Angels for Animals and set up an appointment for The Squeak to get her booster vaccines and get her fixed ... she's become very interested in escaping to the outside lately.

Took air pump apart yesterday and found one of the diaphragms had a tear in it ... took it out and the pump quieted right down. Going to try and see if I can find something that will work as a replacement, since parts are NLA.

We had an orange long haired Maine Coon that had bad hairball issues, we used a product called Cadillax (sp), it worked extremely well and he loved it, smelled like licorice. I never tried it myself...:D
tp,

Thanks ... we had been using a product called "Petromalt" and when we ran out of that I picked up some GNC "Ultra Mega Hairball Formula" and none of the cats seem to like it. At least with the Petromalt they would eat it willingly, if you didn't try to force it on them ... this new stuff forget it ... gotta use the syringe and force it down their throats.

Rick,

That's a very nice looking set up you have there

Rick I thought you already had a grapple?

   / Good morning!!!! #43,867
Hopefully Roy is correct, but it could be the clutch its self if it's a typical electromagnetic clutch.

The switch has been the weak link in the system...dealer told me they sold a fair number of them...I hope that's all it is though.

Just picked one up, thanks, and he went and grabbed it before I even said the model number - that tells me something. Its a JD 910A mower.

Finally done with the service on the 2003 Husqvarna.
New main drive belt, new drive belt idlers, (first time ever), oil, filter, grease, new blades, new spark plugs, (first time ever), two new front deck guide wheels, (first time ever), aired the tires, adjusted the deck, (first time ever), and new air filter.. That should do it for awhile.

David, happy birthday to your wife!!!

Listening to Toby Keith on the stereo which works, the dvd player works, everything works on my home on wheels. Very "tinny" compared to my previous motorhome but no surprise there. Everything is engineered to be lightweight and unlike Airstream which can do this in aircraft quality the Jayco trailer I'm sitting in is built to a much lower price. I can't level the trailer because I asked them to leave it hooked up to the truck, so I'm on a bit of a tilt, surprised they said it was ok to open the slides but they seem to work fine. Plus the corner stabilizer jacks aren't down so it feels ever so slightly like a boat, swaying once in a while. I'm sure used to that...

Ready to roll but first we'll see what kind of sleep I get next to this busy highway.

If the wind picks up tomorrow I'll drop the speed. I'm already not going to exceed 65 on Route 95, so if I have to drop down to 55 I will. Well, with my rear view camera, I can see the big Peterbilt grill as it impales itself on the back of my trailer...:D

Lot of cleaning and lugging stuff, glad it's done. And Larro, yes, one last check inside, and two last checks outside. Have no intentions of driving off with the power cord attached...;)

My friends at whose lovely home I stayed last night are stopping by shortly to check it out. I've perked a pot of coffee and I'm enjoying that sitting down for the first time all day.

I would not sleep for a week if I was thinking of driving 55 mph on I 95. The last time I was on there I was going 85 mph and people were passing me all of the time. Take a pic of the back of your trailer to remember it by.

Started a post this am and got side tracked. Was 31 at 5 am and it is 63 now. Went and talked to the lawyer about buying the house and then got groceries. Friends coming over this evening to talk and play music. GOOD TIMES.. Ed

Good Evening! Yes, that's a whole nuther thread, but I'm too tired to figure it out.

Lots going on, some funny, some bad/good news, some somber. I'll share the highlights.

First to get here were the guys to pump the septic tank. I showed them what I thought was the riser to the tank, then went back inside to keep busy on the house. About fifteen minutes later one of them knocks on the door and asks if I have a hose they could use. I go to take him around back, but as we go past the truck his buddy's standing there, and his front half is brown. He looks just like Wile E. Coyote after the dynamite goes off in his face, except instead of black he's a sort of brown color in front, his rear half unscathed. Apparently when they put the hoses on the truck they cap the ends, and if they're not clean the material in there generates gas as it continues to decompose. And the next guy to come along and uncap them should know to do so slowly, but this one is new, and learned a lesson the hard way. It was hard to keep a straight face, and I did feel sorry for him, but when he took his sunglasses off to reveal a Rocky Racoon face, I broke down. At about that time his partner admitted to having the same thing happen to him the previous week, so there was a bit of pay-back going on there as well.:laughing::laughing:

Other contractors have been providing estimates for repairs, and it's now painfully obvious that there hasn't been any maintenance done on the house in the last fifteen years. As a result, repairs will not only be expensive, but will take much longer than the realtor would like, as she obviously wants to get her commission from a quick sale. But she is right in pointing out that now is the time people are shopping, especially folks with kids wanting to get moved before the summer is out. But this isn't a family house; it's too small, but it is perfect for a soon to retire couple looking to downsize. It has a first level with kitchen, great room and master bedroom, everything a person needs. Then there are two bedrooms and another bath upstairs for visitors or hobbies, and a full but unfinished basement that's perfect for a man cave. It sits on a ridge with a great view of rolling hills, the surrounding hills are wooded, and there's almost no traffic on the road out front. A perfect out of the way retirement home only 20 minutes from all your favorite big box stores. I'm left to wrestle the right balance between what's worth fixing and will bring at least a break even at closing time, and what is just putting lipstick on a pig. The contractors have been great, once given the situation, and none have pushed for a Cadillac treatment when all that's needed is to get the old Ford back on the road.

I thought I had the sulfur smell out of the water by removing the anode rod from the water heater, but it came back. So today I replaced the water heater. The kicker there is that the drain valve on the old one wouldn't, even after reaming it with a piece of copper wire and flushing water through it from the house supply. It'll have to remain one of the great mysteries, as I left it full and heaved it out of the way to get the new one into place. Just now I turned the water on for the first time since the swap, and it still stinks, but before getting excited I'll let it run to rinse all the bad water out of the lines.

I've had the better part of a day now working with an auctioneer sorting through the contents of the house, which varies from junk to useful to collectible. So far, for instance, we've found no less than eight pocket calculators and untold numbers of extension cords. On the other hand, I've opened three boxes full of US and Canadian mint proof set coins, including some gold pieces, and just this morning unearthed another briefcase with boxes marked as silver coins that I won't know the real contents of until I dig into it.

Then there's the old boy's '98 Toyota Tacoma pickup, which seems to have rusted out frame rails, apparently a common problem on this era of Toyota truck. Stopped by the dealer yesterday and showed them some pictures, and after checking the VIN I was informed that there was a service campaign, but it closed a few years ago. Since the truck didn't get looked at then, we're out of luck. So I called Toyota corporate today and got pretty much the same story. Then I did a google search and discovered at least two class action law suits, but seeing as how I'm just trying to liquidate the assets, that's going to be left to whoever ends up with the truck. The real pitty is that you'd never suspect that there's a problem, as that's the only rust on it. I've had two Toyota trucks in the past, but after this fiasco, I probably won't get another.

That's just the tip of the proverbial ice berg, and I've still to fix dinner and the faucets are still running, so I'll sign off now. I have been keeping up, almost, and will hopefully come up for air before I take to the road once again...:confused2:

RNG, you really have your hands full, and hopefully are appreciated.
the story of the super pooper doopers and the pics of the toyota frame were remarkable.
Try to get a good night's sleep. It has to be better in the morning.

   / Good morning!!!! #43,880
RNG you are very bussy and getting things done. better than me.

I changed out the pto switch on Bernice's JD Z 910A and still the blade clutch does not engage. All the wires look good, all the safety switches work properly. The only thing left is taking the clutch off and that would require . . . . I told her she would have to take it in. Sorry.
