Drew, I hope your boat buying gets better. I guess I don't understand, if the boat doesn't make speed, do you simply drop it, look for another, or try to re price it? Is it a combination of factors, unknown, or up to the seller?

The seller is trying to make it work, putting the original three bladed props back on instead of the four bladed ones the prior owner put on.
It's not like the boat is doing 18 knots when it should do 20. It does 11 when it should be doing 14 and falls off plane easily. Price isn't the issue, the question is do I want to go 11mph. The problem is that I could go 9mph with engines one quarter this size using half the fuel. I really want to do 14 knots/16mph to get anywhere reasonable locally in about six hours of running. If I wanted to go slow, I would have bought a true trawler.

I expect to be called tomorrow to take another run on Thursday with the new props. I told the broker it either did 12 knots at 2400 rpm (full cruise on a 2800 rpm engine) or it just wasn't the right boat for me. More importantly it had to stay up on plane easily. Hard to understand if you haven't owned a powerboat but planing boats need to stay up on the water on the aft section of the boat, not fall down where they are less efficient.

Farmer range is about 100 mile radius from home base although in past have covered entire state just not economically feasible anymore

much warmer weather, 54 in dense fog outside, going up to 74 later today in rain coming in this afternoon. Headed off to a local nursery this morning in search of rope garland; Lowes didn't have any. I have a 53 foot long porch rail in front I want to wrap, so I guess I need 100 feet. I can't understand why someone said "oh that will be expensive" when this whole area is pine trees, and out by Asheville there is a huge xmas tree industry. Not like I'm looking for garland in Florida...

nice to look out at the end of the lane and see all the little red candycanes lit up. Cars are slowing down to check them out. And my turtles now have some light at night...

Neither were Prime, so you have to pay shipping. 18' is 15 pounds, expedited will add a chunk to the final price.

Of course there's always the artificial version! Maybe put some pine scent in a humidifier hidden on the porch

YIKES, no thank you. This is silly. I am surrounded by pine trees. So, maybe no premade rope, but I can sure cut off some nice long lengths, in some cases doing some needed pruning..., and make my own. I might have paid thirty bucks for a hundred foot roll, but no more. Not for something I'm throwing out in a month. Yeah, I guess chinese fake garland is an option...first going to see what a little exercise will do for me. Thank you for looking it up.

Been using the artificial garland for 7 years no problems at all. Hung white outdoor lights woven thru it and zip tied together.
51 outside high of 60 later and today is last day of rain hopefully. Flood watches on going through tonight. Feel like we live in rain forest, grass still green but not growing much.

Today is Doctor day for regular checkup last week dermatologist then in two weeks endocrinology Doctor
Rain is putting a real damper on work hard to make up this many days

Wasn't able to go out yesterday to movie and lunch with wife - she caught my cold, so I went to the gym and took Coco for a hike. Maybe today if she is better. Otherwise, I'll make chicken soup.

Good morning, all....negative news to report...my spouse got a letter from Social Security yesterday that said her SSDI benefits are being suspended because they feel she is able to work full time...she teaches part time at a local college but for health reasons cannot work full time...and yes she has always faithfully reported her income from teaching. We are not looking forward to dealing with the Social Security staff at the local office today, having heard horror stories about the long waits to meet with staff and the longer waits (months and months) trying to get a cancelled disability benefit reinstated or changed to regular Social Security (she is 63).

On the other hand, we helped our friend who recently moved pick up furniture found on Craigslist last night and delivered it to her new townhouse...she was thrilled to get our help on such short notice. It made us feel good to assist her.

Weather forecast calls for warming temps up to 46 degrees here by Friday...weird for December but that is Michigan.
