Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #36,061
Good evening, dark outside and 85˚. I had a scare this morning when a copperhead decided to sit in the exact spot I was sitting in while refurbishing a threshold. Luckily I saw him when I came back to sit down with my tools before he saw me. Ahhhhg-shudder! (I did remember to shut the door when I got my tools:thumbsup:)

   / Good morning!!!! #36,062
Don, you guys have more snakes than anyone I know. My neighbor says he killed a young copperhead about 3 weeks ago on his back porch. I have not seen one personally here on our place.

The motorcycle riding was a blast. My buddy is a motor head and the sound of a powerful engine gets his BP up. We ended up switching between 3 bikes. I ended up riding a very special Yamaha FJR 1300 sport tourer most of the time. The original owner (another friend) payed $15000 to a 3rd friend who has a machine shop to install a very custom one off turbocharger on it. They started with 8 psi boost but it was too fast, so they turned it down to 4 psi and it will rocket up to 150mph in short order. My buddy says he's had it up to 180mph indicated with saddle bags. :) At low speeds, it runs like any normal bike and handles very well. When you give it full throttle and the revs get over 3500rpm, the boost and torque kick in and you really have to hold on. I told him he should not let anybody else ride that bike or they could hurt themselves.
Next up the V-max. It has custom exhaust made to look like stock exhaust but the catalytic converter has been ummm, how do you say improved by lightening it up? Also has the bike's ignition/fuel curves worked on by a special programmer. There is no way I can convey how much torque and hp that thing has. Did I mention we filled everything up with avgas before we left?. He says it dyno's at 184hp at the rear wheel on a cool day. You can be doing 75 in 5th gear and gas it and in about 4 seconds you're doing 110 without down shifting. I told him he should not let anybody else ride that bike or they could hurt themselves.

The Ducati Hypermotard is a fun, hooligan bike. It is his favorite for all around fun. Lightweight and decent hp. Of course he has custom exhaust and a few other goodies on it. He can't sleep at night if he has a new bike and it is still bone stock. I can leave stuff stock for 30 years. I told him he should just "give" that bike to me since he has too many. :)

Drew, hope your hand is better. EPI pens are crazy $$$ for what they are made of , but how many people would be alive today if they'd had one. I wish we had some for our middle daughter who is very allergic to cats.

We went to some tractor pulls in Hallettsville Texas today. It was crazy hot inside the expo center. The big boys weren't there with the 4 engined sleds but a whole lot of single engined v8 supercharged tractors and 4wd trucks. LOUD. They gave you earplugs with your wrist band.

Poured first cup of coffee. 67ー with clear skies this morning. Heading to 87ー with lots of sun all day. AC came on yesterday for the first time this summer. Should do the same today. Not much planned. May get tractor greased up for rotary cutting back field. Then some NASCAR.
txdon, Wipper must be a slacker when it comes to warm weather.
Good Morning All.

72 going to 92 today, with heat alerts up and down the coast.

My left hand is still very puffed up, doesn't hurt, itches a lot, but is just as puffy as when I went to bed. Actually more, puffy from second joint on fingers to just past my wrist. Strange, guess it will take a while until the fluid goes away. Interesting how the body floods an injured area to heal it...
My memory of benadryl is that it puts you to sleep. Well, maybe not a bad idea on a hot Sunday.
Perhaps I could try out for the Pillsbury Dough Boy ad. Well, hand shots anyway...;)

Otherwise, today I chill out and do some tool arrangement in the woodshop. I ordered four 2 foot strong magnetic strips and I find they keep what I use the most quite handy. I don't want to open a drawer every time I need a screwdriver.
maybe I'll take some pics today, it's actually coming along

and then I return to my new Kindle which I am enjoying. Now if it would only turn pages by telepathy...

y'all have a very nice day and may you be blessed.

as the nice lady at the McDonald's drivethru tells me each time.

69 right now...high of 88 today and probably a thunderstorm or two.
Finished mowing the lawn yesterday (after about 5 hours at work)...today, well I have to put our broken dryer back together (it's being replaced next week). I brought some work home and I'll probably get some time on that today.

sounds like you are working too hard Roy. A nice Sunday afternoon nap sounds in order.
You working on audit aftermath paperwork?

74F and partly cloudy @ 07:00 ... heading up to around 90F today, which is a bit of a change from what the weather has been lately (rainy and unseasonably cool) ... strong storms possible in the afternoon.

Got the Simplicity put back together the other day and got all the grass around the house cut yesterday, along with the entire front.

Hydro pumps/motors reinstalled:

Hub sprockets, jackshafts, and chains installed:

Replaced the drive belts for the PTO, the hydro pumps/motors, and the mower. Changed out the gas filter yesterday. Need to check the date on the oil and filter and see if that needs changed, and maybe give it a bath.

Seems to run great ... nice having it back in the fleet again.

Started to weed the hosta bed on the north side of the shop the other day ... got it about half done:

I used compost that I made when I built this bed and planted the hostas about a month ago ... they really seemed to have taken off ... along with the weeds :D

Hopefully get that and some other weeding done today, along with getting the grass around the house picked up.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive weekend.

   / Good morning!!!! #36,070
75 going to 87. Hot and muggy, hard to breathe. Still have to get materials for work this week, ended up going with the wife to order the accessories for her truck.

Don - you guys have to many snakes down there and I thought we had them here with the constrictors in the Glades. Cobra that may have killed Texas owner found dead - Yahoo News

Drew - remember I got my MD license from a box of Corn Flakes, but almost looks like infection instead of allergy. You said your hand was dirty when this happened? Also, you should know how the frogs are doing when the sun goes down, they can make a racquet! I won't get my new Kindle Fire till the middle of Aug.

Kyle - Those kind of speeds are insane. Guess that is why I ride a Harley that is older than me

You working on audit aftermath paperwork?

No, I'm working on a major supplier screw up (my personal opinion is it's data falsification) Corrective Action. This has consumed most of my time for the last month.
The audit corrective actions are to be addressed this week. We got 4 minors nonconformances. I wasn't the QMS Management Rep...if I had been, I would have contested two of the findings.

77 this morning high of 94 later even hotter tomorrow. Off to look at jobs soon

   / Good morning!!!! #36,073
rs, I guess weeds like compost too. I had put some mushroom dirt in my garden prior to the crazy amounts of rain we rec'd. It was tilled about 8" deep and I couldn't get in it for weeks. The weeds took off like they owned the place. Frustrating. I want 1 of those little mini tillers. Glad your Simplicity is going again.

Roy, sometimes drilling down to a "creative enough" but "satisfying" answer to satisfy corrective actions is a royal pita. It has cost untold fortunes to keep ISO and the likes instilled here in America.

Drew, glad the pain is gone. Would an icepack help maybe? Did you see what type of wasp it was? We seem to have a bigger wasp population this year here.

I hate fog. It is dangerous to drive in.

Ron, someday Don will actually have to admit that that stray Whipper dog is his bestest good buddy. :)

The number of companies maintaining an ISO system is decreasing...I guess that's got registrars (the agencies that actually audit and approve a QMS) and consultants pretty unhappy.
We're in a regulated industry (aerospace) that is required to maintain an AS 9100 system and, I'll admit, it is rather weak. The biggest problem is we're a satellite facility and the parent compny's QMS is mostly written around that facility. What we do doesn't really comply with their procedures.

Birthday boy was on the go all day yesterday and still managed to get me up for a game of hide and seek at 6 o'clock this morning.

A warm day yesterday and no rain for the party. Even so, most us managed to get soaking wet. Ben making preparations for his guest's arrival should give you a clue why.

That tub was filled up twice more during the afternoon to keep the 8 water pistols going.

There is something about tractors that appeal to kids of all ages.

just to be safe, went to the ER. Place was deserted. I was called before I even got to sit down...amazing.
the nice lady doc is pretty sure it's just a severe bite reaction and sent me home with prednisone and benadryl.
Ok, hope she is right.
Went to Wahlgreens, only one open on sunday, and my luck, I'm standing at the counter having my scrips processed when the power goes on and off, lights blinking, computers clacking, and the whole store reboots. The lady behind the counter said it could take up to an hour for them to get back online and they could not process any requests until then. Could not do paper, nothing. Lovely. They will call me when they are ready. How nice. Another trip back to town.
Looks like an afternoon with a seriously long nap is in order.

nice day out so far, roll the windows down, turn the a/c off in the truck and just get the smells of summer. Heat index of 103-107 for this afternoon.

Drew, perhaps you could call in a toy store and get some of these Hulk Hands to keep the stingers away. :D

Would Iron Man pants help txdon if he sits on snake?

I saw a billboard near one hospital that had an LED clock showing the wait times at the "other" hospital's ER.

Celebrating my birthday today with family. Expect to have brisket, chicken and sausage along with cake and ice cream. woo hoo!
An inside day with the temps up high and the humidity.
