Good morning! 77˚ muggy - hey it's
Summer in full swing.

A little sore from water volleyball last night, but nothing a couple of aspirin will not cure.

Rooibos tea is ordered so I can drink tea when the detective drinks her tea.

The 3 large broken limbs hanging by grape vines above the shack-in-the-back have been safely removed.

Time to mow again. Life goes on . . .

Good morning all. 75F this morning, partly cloudy and windy again. Gonna try to mow on Mondays, the golf course is closed. Found 12 ball the last time we mowed. Heading into town to run errand and grocery shop. Will get back to the garage today hopefully but SWMBO is napping so timing is unclear :). Will look into Don's rain gauge, placement here will more of a challange

71°F and .33 inches rain last 24 hours, still raining.

Picked BIL up at Kona airport last night returning from taking care of wife's Mom from latest hospital adventure, removal of colon blockage. Still in rehab and now SIL is on duty. Siblings have decided that Mom is no longer capable of living totally on her own and hope to use this to precipitate a change. Not gonna be easy, but necessary. Airport was a 6 hour excursion as we tried to make it exciting for our two young visitors and stopped to eat along the way. Didn't get home until after 11PM. Only hung drywall until 3PM. Today is off to a slow start. :)

Be safe
Have a great day.

Larro, beautiful pics and a tranquil setting for a paddle. What time of day do those water lilies bloom?

I don't get down there very often, but I've seen them open in the morning.

I picked up a couple of rod and reel combos in town, and a couple of extra reels. {A few weeks ago when I went canoeing with one of my Tampa cousin, there was dirt dauber nest in two of my reels. I got them both working, but not what you would call smoothly} One of the combos is a skinny handled spinner that will work well with my kayak. As soon as I rig up some sort of rod holder, that is. The only one I have used in it so far is my old telescopic rod from back in my biker days. It's been almost 25 years since my last bike, so the fact the rod is still functional was a surprise when I dug it out.

On a unrelated matter, I paid almost $14 a bag for 13-13-13. This gardening habit of mine is getting harder and harder to support. Since today is a good transplanting day, and I have lots of Armenian cucumber sprouts, I had better go see how long I can tough it out out there.

Billie, remember, gentle kisses....

just had a brief shower, not much, just drove the humidity from 90 to 100% which sure wasn't needed.
I'm not going out there except for a high speed run to the mailbox on the golf cart. If I get enough speed up, it cools off, well, that's my story officer

larro, I bought a new modest spinning set from Penn, maybe 80 bucks for the whole thing, fifteen pound test, for someday fishing on a someday boat, and now i don't know how to tie the lure on. There's swivels and other little gizmos in my tackle box where I clearly have more parts than knowledge... One of my firemen buddies has volunteered but he's been pretty scarce. Maybe I should just lay all the parts out, take pics, start a new thread and you all can tell me what goes after what. The leader may be leading but what's following? ;) Hardly ever fished in my life. Great fishing right out here in the Pamlico River. I wonder if there's a spot in the River where they come out all nicely filleted but still attached to my hook? :D

I bet you know all about the fish here Larro since you probably investigated it for your book.

My challenge also is identification. My luck I'd catch a bait fish and think it was edible. Clearly on the low end of the knowledge curve here. And I'm not going to catch something unless I know how to get the fish off the hook humanely and release it.

or what in the world to do when an iridescent but lost 20 pound dolphin gets on my hook? You know, the edible dolphins, not the tv stars...Perhaps they call it something else. Or a small tuna...now that I'd like to catch but not in the River. Better I catch that at the fish store. Salt water outside of the Pamlico River, versus further North on the Albermarle that whole area is fresh water. Different fish for sure.

I have got to eat less meat and more fish so perhaps catching them might be fun. Only cost effective if I fished off the dock. Might be a fun thing to do with my house guest this weekend for perhaps an hour in the morning. See if we can catch dinner. One bobber or two? See, that guy has four on his, he be bobbin...

Actually my house guest is a very senior Boy Scout Scoutmaster and probably knows how to tie fishing lures on just fine. Besides, he is my go to knot person anyway, so while he's here, in the afternoon when the heat has driven us indoors, maybe I'll get him to try. I think I'm going for five bobbers. Should give me more lift. That's what the guy at the liquor store told me. Took him a while to get it out though. He be bobbin too.

I'd rather take their pictures. Hi little fishie. Oh, you're not so little. hop up here and let's have a chat and photo opp. Little swimming pool back here just for you. Yeh, here's your fish food. yes, yes, non GMO. Picky fish.
what? you want a ride twenty miles upstream for a hot date?
Sure....wheeeeeeee splash
Next.

reality calls. I hate that. Still need to vacuum the whole house. And there are no vacuum fairies about.

2015-07-09, 0141 Up early since I've got to go in early as part of an AS 9100 audit (company I work for is being audited and I'm one of the auditees). AS 9100 is the equivalent to ISO 9000. This week has been total s**t

Roy - a few years back I was involved with implementing an ISO 14001 program. Heavily involved in both the initial program and subsequent audits. Brother I KNOW your pain. Just recalling the headaches is enough for a month worth of night terrors. Good luck!
