Drew great looking boat I'm jealous for sure. Oriential is one of my favorite places to visit. Maybe we can hook up on the ICW sometime. The Reserve marina or what it used to be called is very near to me in Litchfield or Pawleys Island. Your passion for boats shows thru

Yup ... the diameter of the three big logs from the last batch in the previous picture measured 37"+, 39"+, and 48"+ at the largest end ...

Yeah ... I dunno if I would say "on hand" exactly ...

I can come up with plenty of smaller wood ... but most of it would have to be cut down and bucked.

I've been cutting everything @ around 19" - 20" lengths ... I could cut those in half to 10" ... which might speed up the drying, but it might make it a PITA to handle/stack etc.

There's a large maple on the edge of leach field that needs to be taken out, has three or four trunks ... plus plenty of ash.

Just got to get the stuff cut down and get it bucked so it can start to dry and season.

If money was no object, I'd probably look at the tarps truckers that run flatbeds use ... I'd imagine those are pretty heavy and durable.

I'm at the point where I can ill afford to waste time having to redo stuff ;)

Nice logs will come in handy this winter

Good evening all. 72F this morning, got to 89F and some decent sunshine. More box unloading, got living room setup. SWMBO thinks we will start sleeping there Friday or Saturday. Will have to figure out what is missing, several boxes have not still not been delivered. Internet is functional but home network is not setup.

How are you dealing with the insects down there? Up here in Michigan, the skeeters are really bad today, and the black flies are there, but not in the cloud quantities that the skeeters are. My dogs go out, and come right back to the door. I worked outside a bit today, and wore jeans, long sleeve shirt, hat and a bunch of Cutter bug spray.

We haven't had enough rain lately to worry about skeeters too much. If you are in the shade a little Cutter is a good idea, but they have more sense than to get out in the sun:D Later in the summer on we will have yellow flies and horse flies so bad you have to cover all skin, and wear thick shirts and pants. They put a hurting on you when they bite.

Nice looking boat Drew.

Happy anniversary Farmer.

MG, glad you guys are getting closer to living in the new house. When we built this house the varnish they put on the cabinets was making Margie sick. We would spend four nights in our old house in town, then three nights out here. It took a couple of months before she could take it full time.

We had a few lambs on the weigh scales yesterday. They aren't quite there yet and need to fill out a little more to make the grade. Prices are down quite a bit on last year, so no one was disappointed at not being able to sell.

I took my wife out for a meal last night, a little treat we had promised ourselves a few days ago, rather than any special occasion. We went to a place we haven't been in for a while and went early so it wasn't overcrowded. When the food arrived my wife's choice was not quite as described on the menu and was a tiny, tiny portion. Mine on the other hand was both large and tasty, which in a perverse way, sort of made things worse, even though I was good and shared some. She was torn for choice over which sweet to choose from the desert menu, so I was going to order for myself her second choice , then she could have a taste of mine too, but kept that quiet. Sometimes good intentions come to nothing. The young staff were not skilled at customer service and couldn't be bothered to take the order, so in the end I paid and left with a very disappointed wife. When we got home she put on a rock album, played a few tracks with the volume up and managed to start smiling again.

No hot sun today, ideal weather for me to make a start on pointing the house. I have been doing this steadily for the last 3 years again. The planning rules that gave me permission to convert the former barn into a house require me to keep the original 200 year old lime mortar. Out in the real world, the mortar between every brick has been taking a battering from the weather for well over 200 years and every bit needs cutting back and replacing, in fact, building control will not sign off the property until it is done. Doing a little each year is classed only as repair, so keeps within the rules and more importantly, gives me a good excuse to take my time.;)

Happy Birthday Ron. Just remember, they say if we make it this far, we'll make it a while further....
many more miles in that motorhome for you to travel yet.

no rain last night, wish we had gotten something. Forecast looks pretty dry now; looks like I'm back to watering. At least a lot of the grass seed I planted finally took root. Today is lawn mowing, need to get it done before it climbs to 95 degrees.

69 heading to 90s again. Summer is almost here. :)

Hope you had a great anniversary Farmer. and Happy Birthday, Ron.

Almost got run over by the swarm of hummingbirds while I was out washing and refilling them this morning.

Speaking of flies and skeeters...the deer flies are the worse I've seen this year. Rarely have I ever had to fight more than two at a time, and never did they leave the edge of the woods and follow me up the hill across the field. This year, as many as 5 have been buzzing me, and a couple made it across the deer fly DMZ up to the yard yesterday. They are easy to kill, but if one gets me, quite a welt appears.
