Need to get up and pour second cup of coffee. 47° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 60 with partly cloudy skies. Much cooler today. Back is feeling better. But will wait one more day before doing any heavy work.
Good Morning All.

66 this morning high of 81 later today. Big storms blew by yesterday but only a tenth of an inch of rain for us yesterday. Next chance of rain is Thursday for us and the chance is small. Looks like it's going to be a long hot summer for us and dry too. I'm using the word us too much

good morning, a warm 70 going up to 87 today in afternoon showers and thunderstorms, though nothing is on the radar now.

Dentist first thing this morning, last of his first round work before he puts in two crowns. I am sure making this guy's house payment for awhile...he's even more expensive than the dentist I had in PA, who now I realize was quite reasonable.
I'm not a dental phobe but today can only get better.
Then with a rubber face I go food shopping, preparing for my old friends to return this Thursday for several days.

And if it's not raining when I get home, it's lawn mow time. Tomorrow my helper comes to weedwack and help me pull my front walkway pavers up. They are getting replaced on Thursday with grey instead of red pavers, the house is white and grey, and the old pavers are going to be used as flooring for some parts of the barn. Not as good as concrete but better than dirt for sure. Old pavers just pop right up, tried the first one yesterday. Trying to do this between rain storms or the hole I leave after pulling up the pavers would make a great little swimming lane.

I spent the extra money at Lowes to buy the plastic liners for the walkway, since I'm using amateur helpers. They interlock and allegedly preclude the use of underlayment. I don't think so...we'll dig it out, underlay, thin layer of sand, roll and tamp, then lay the plastic pieces, then the pavers go right on that. Then the polymeric sand on top. The latter has its grains full dealing with the amazing number of ants here. Wonder if they can chomp through it...

String ready, hardest part will be getting the slope away from the house just right, and consistent the length of the walkway. I have a long leveler, and my main helper says he has done this before, plus he is huge and will do the grunt work. He is bringing one helper and I will do manly things like drive the tractor around and try to stay out of the way.
but I sure am going to QC that slant before we proceed and will fully build one spot as a test.

68 heading to 87. Nearly touched 90 yesterday, but we finally got some of those storms just as I finished mowing - got two tenths.

Well, time to go rock in the chair with my coffee (and a small mug for blacksnake :).

maybe our snakes should get together...have lots of little ones.
I really do wonder if my five footer ate one of those bunnies.

At the weekend I was collecting wood from the overhanging oak branches I cut down last year, before the grass grows too long to find them again.

Wngsprd : Have you sat in the rocker since the snake visit ? I'd always be looking over my shoulder .

Eric. How's this as an option when it comes tor mustering your sheep:

49F & rain. We had a good shower around 4am. It's all welcome, been so dry.

I have some baseboard for the walk-in closet ready for polyurethane, good inside chore for a wet morning.

Good morning, 54F heading to 66F with rain possible. Big thunderstorm missed us last night, wind did pick up enough to knock over my big garbage pail.

Good Morning. 0745, sunny, 75F with 97% humidity. Forecast high of 92F with 20% chance of thundershowers this afternoon, and a low of 69F tonight. It rained just over an inch and a quarter in Blountstown yesterday. We got about half that much here at the Larro Ranchero.

I'm running up to Lowe's to pick up some flooring for BIL this morning. I'm trusting it will fit in the old Prius because I really don't want to clean out the back of the truck unless I have to.

I picked the first cucumbers and acorn squash out of the garden yesterday. Should have peppers ready any day now. There are even a few tomatoes starting to turn.

Hope everyone has a good day,

Larro

Then the polymeric sand on top. The latter has its grains full dealing with the amazing number of ants here. Wonder if they can chomp through it...

Drew, I have about 1/2 dozen type of ants here. Only one type will mess with the polymeric sand. It is the not the fire ant. It is the small light colored ant that makes single hole with a funnel shaped mound about 2" in diameter.
With that polymeric sand it is easy to put too much water on it and it will not get hard. A very very light misting - just keep it damp, for 30 minutes. If the water starts to run you wash the poly out of the sand.

After 3 years I only have a small area that sunk 1/2" on the outside edge where the polymer sand needs to be replaced. Better than I expected - only about 20 pavers need maintenance out of 15,000.

74˚ 99% humidity, cloudy 50 chance of rain afternoon.
I got 1/2 the yard mowed yesterday. Our bahia grass yard requires two mowings because of it's knee high seed stalks - not a good yard grass but will survive a drought and it was already here and looks good for a few days after it's mowed.

We decided not to mow the middle of the circular paver driveway and a bunch of yellow wild flowers came up:
