Good morning!!!!

Morning all.

Mid 60s this morning. We've already had a few passing showers, with heavy rain and storms predicted for most of the day. Looks like an inside day-good day to re-arrange the office. Hope to get a walk in today.

79 and sunny tomorrow. Back on the bike with that kind of weather. Perhaps cars will stop at the stop signs again. Still sore from yesterday's debacle. Car ran a stop sign. It was raining. I locked up the brakes and boom-down I went. Lots of road rash from skidding on pavement and a nice hematoma on the right hip. Looks like a third butt cheek with heavy bruising. Bike was only minimally damaged, so it could have been worse.

Ouch! Hope you heal up quickly. Not seeing a two-wheeler is one thing, running stop signs is idiotic. I see people do it here too, roll through so fast they can't possibly see much.

Those hematoma or contusion lumps can stick around for years unfortunately.

Good Morning. 1015 partly cloudy, 52F with 84% humidity. Forecast high of 69F with 40% chance of rain this afternoon, and a low of 58F tonight. More rain overnight and tomorrow. I didn't get up early enough to get in my full cardio before work, but I did get in 2 miles of walking once I got here. I will need all the calories in the bank I can get as tonight's event is a Quinceanera. That is when a girl of Mexican decent turns 15. This is my 2nd one this year, and they are big, big events.

There is a FSU basketball game that will be overlapping the FSU football game this afternoon. So I will be streaming audio for basketball while watching football. And just praying none of my customers interrupt my juggling act by making me do work:D

Drew, one of those soft hot and cold bags would do the trick with your towel and clothes. You might throw them in the dryer for a few minutes before zipping them in the bag.

Sseelhoff, be careful out there. Stupid drivers was what made me get rid of my motorcycle a few years back. I had three close calls in three days, and I treated it as a sign from God. Since bicycles are even harder to see, and offer less protection, bad endings are common when distracted drivers are thrown into the mix.

Hope everyone has a good weekend,

Larro

Good morning all. 40F and cloudy this morning. 61F and continued cloudy slight chance of rain. Got all the wood I have split that is worth splitting. The overaged wood is going to the recycle center to become mulch. If the rain holds off I might get a ride in today have not ridden since Nov 6. Vet is taking the cat in today, his intestinal problems need more help than available in outpatient format.

Drew, about those bennies the maidens want: Remember, you can't take it with you....

Ron, the VFW in Howell? M59 & Grand River? Been there quite a few times.

Dropped my wife off at work this am, going to pick her up in a bit, then we will do lunch. Saw a wild turkey that had some sort of wound, don't know if somebody was poaching, or if a coyote got it. It was still mobile, went off into the woods, so maybe she will make it. The turkeys come to my backyard a couple of times per day, to feed, and I think to rest. Being fenced in, they are safe from most predators. And my dogs don't chase them, so that helps.

I don't try to ride my mountain bike on the roads around here. Some locals, especially those with big trucks, will harass you. There seems to be a inverse correlation between how high the truck is lifted, and driver IQ.

Down here, the oilfield craziness creates literal convoys of 18 wheelers. It does make driving a bit more dangerous knowing they can't stop worth a flip. You should see a fracking convoy. Sometimes 20 or more big trucks.

Thanks for the well wishes, all. I'm fine. A little sore today, but not the first time I've taken a fall, and certainly not the last. Aleve goes a long way.

The driver was in a little red sports car. It saw me go down. Stopped about 1/4 mile down the road. Once they saw me stand up, they took off.

My bike is resting comfortably today. I'll put some icy hot on the frame. She should be good to go tomorrow. :D

ouch, glad that's healing. Might has right even if they are wrong.

got the burn pile finally going today, with my fireman helper getting the honors of lighting off the firepit he made.
still burning nicely, down low, with a twenty foot ring of wet grass around it. It did jump out when it first started out but we both saw it within a minute. After it burned down subsequent loads just burned slowly. The initial fire was built with a large number of landscape timbers so it was a real bonfire for a while, which we watched carefully. will be making at least two trips back to the barn before I turn in to check on it.

neighbor's soy beans got picked today in a cloud of dust

Firebug Drew: Patio Heaters

Maybe one of these things would warm your hot tub area. I've seen them in al fresco dining areas for evening use. I have no idea how convenient they are to operate.

firebug? Man you go get your grapple into that pile of burnable stuff, clamp down on some pieces of wood which get wedged in the grapple and refuse to come out over the firepit. The firepit is on fire and of course what was in the grapple as I was backing up quickly had now caught on fire.
marvelous, I bang the grapple back and forth a couple of times wagging that burning stick around and finally it goes where it is supposed to.
Much too much excitement for me but one never knows what gets stuck when. The old hay and pine needles were easy to dump; it was the long pieces of brush that I now know I have to cut up shorter. No harm no foul. of course if my barn is smoldering while I type away, now that would be seriously undesirable. Sigh. Up I go for another check.

There are some in the weather world who think a nice snow storm is possible for SW Virginia north 6 to10 inches next Wednesday thru Friday. Think this is premature but keep on radar for those who have travel plans next week from Virginia north into North East could be major head ache if this happens

Well, burning stuff stuck in a grapple would be exciting. If the flames got into a hydraulic line and burnt through, you would have an omni-directional Kubota flame thrower. Can you reach the firepit with the garden hose?

Firebug was a joke, I forgot the smiley.

of course it was a joke. and I do have a 3/4 inch water hose right at the fire
with a very nice nozzle on it.
Which came in helpful and quite effectively when my helper had to knock down a traveling ground fire coming out of one end of the pit about fifteen feet, looking like a tiny forest fire from miles up. Flames were only an inch tall and were just burning the dry fluff on top of the grass.
Well, after that, it was surround and drown. No creepy flames from now on. Those flames will need hip boots.
and winds tonight are "light and variable"

my hydraulic lines on the Long grapple are pretty protected but yeah if they did not shake off that time I was just going to lower the bucket back a ways near the hose and hose the grapple down. But didn't have to; it's a pretty big mass of steel. But only as strong as those hydraulic lines. Luckily it was stuck "out front".
My grapple has serious teeth on the bottom; every once in a while they pierce something and really stick. Not like I can take a test run on each load...

43F and cloudy @ 18:00 ... rain in the area ...

Just got the fire rollin' in the wood stove here at the house.

Had freezing rain this morning ... hopped in the van to come down to the house around 10:30 and the only direction she would go was backwards (downhill) ... the tires just spun trying to go forward ... made it to the bottom in reverse and that was all she wrote. Left it at the bottom and walked the rest of the way to the house. Then had a bowl of the wife's beef barely vegetable soup and promptly fell asleep on the couch ...

HVAC guy called his morning ... closest place that had the gas valve was Cincinnati ... should be here by Tuesday, assuming UPS is on schedule. Fortunately it isn't going to be all that cold.

Scott,

Glad to hear you are (relatively) ok ... stay safe.

Scott,

Glad to hear you are (relatively) ok ... stay safe.

Thanks. Good news is my hard head was inside the helmet, providing it plenty of support so the outer shell remained undamaged.

I'm a bit sore, but nothing unreasonable.
