Good morning!!!!

Thanks Murph.

How cold does it need to get? Does it just thaw out again when it gets warmer?

I'm going to go add some additive "Just In case" this weekend and maybe drive the tractor around to mix it up (my littlest one will love riding on it with me).

THANK YOU!
David

That's your best bet...
Diesel fuel is winterized, but you don't know when that happens in the southern states. It does have to get pretty cold for the fuel to gell, but I recall several years ago (during a very cold snap in PA) that trucks coming north (from the southern states) had fuel gelling as they were driving through PA.

I put Power Service (white bottle) in every tank when I fuel up...all year long. Power Service in the white bottle does have some anti-gelling properties, but it's not the best to use if the fuel is already gelled.

Good morning all. 20F this morning sunny and moderate wind. Forecast for 40F clouds building with warm front approaching. Normal temps and rain all weekend. Cat has been improving last several days. Need to get out and work on wood pile and get the wood covered today.

Dave glad your dog is doing better.

Drew does this mean your contractors are done?

Drew does this mean your contractors are done?

well the main carpentry contractors were fired yesterday, what a long and unpleasant week.
Not only did they keep running over my sod, they turned their stereo on after they were asked to turn it off, they stood on top of my
a/c compressor to caulk a window, just bozos, and they did faulty window trim finishing, caulking my screens in, etc. And almost none of them spoke English. New company due to arrive in a few minutes to come in and finish the job. Kudos to the GC for listening to me.

Next week I have tile being laid in the kitchen area and then in the new bathroom. Will take several weeks to get this all done, then the carpet goes down, the mess cleaned up, and I can enjoy in peace and quiet what I have done here. I'm guessing third week in December.

You're going to be lonely once everyone clears out. :)

Speaking of gelling diesel, y'all boys up in COLD country, can ye just try to run ye tractors in winter too? I know ye've already thought of this of course, but seems that's really the best thing to do. Even down here in fairly warm country, mine sits too long sometimes.

Mother Nature has a plan for that. We run our tractors every time it snows and sometimes in between.

Buppies Oh Buppies
Why don't you live closer
If you had done my driveway
it would not look like this
centipede grass busting through two inches of pavement.
They must not have cleaned out the underlayment well enough
At least a dozen of these things, very discouraging, but at least they are all in one thirty foot section.
Nothing like a big patch on a new driveway. Probably ought to spray the earth with weedkiller too.
really amazing that this "grass" will punch through two inches of macadam.

A bit late this AM, went to town early and just back
Almost 1030 , 72F and .43 inches rain since midnight.
Hoping it clears so I can get my outside stuff done.

Be safe
Have a great day

Plants are tougher than they look.

I had a fern that pushed through my asphalt drive several times, and it was growing on solid rock. I would cut off, pull what I could and beat the pavement pucker back down with a 2lb hammer. I couldn't believe the tenacity of the thing.

Drew,

We've had ferns punch up thru 6" of asphalt here in the past ...

And yes, it is amazing ...

Got my new Marathon water heater today, used my forks to take it off the truck! ( yay! ) I will install it this weekend, hopefully get a bunch of little things done around here, it's supposed to warm up into the 40's, 50 by sunday. It was 10F when I started the bota up, no problems at all. Haven't decided on dinner yet, wife wants to pick something up, so she chooses. Not gonna argue that one....:)

Have a good one!

Warmed up to 39, so changed my oil. I think that's everything that needs it, except my son's car...will get that done whenever he slows down enough that I can grab his oil plug.

Heading to 19 tonight, just right for a walk to my tree stand in the pre-dawn hours :(.

We have a 50 gal. Rheem Marathon electric water heater. The insulation jacket seems to work very well. The outside surface is room temperature.

That's the same one I bought. My old one is about 15, and looking sad. I am not going to wait until it ruptures. I researched this, and altho it seems spendy, I think it is a good choice.
