10F @ 04:30 ... with an 11 mph wind out of the southwest, gusting to 29 ...

Just came down from the shed after loading up the stove ... I got hungry and my back was killin' me so I need to give it a little break.

Was warmer up in the shed than down here ... the t-stat had kicked down to 62 and it was readin' 63 here in the house ... was short sleeve shirt weather up in the shop ... probably in the mid 70's ... lol ...

Yesterday afternoon I got one seal installed on the overhead door before the temp dropped and the wind came up and I just said screw it.

Mostly did clean up ... got back into sorting and putting away fasteners and small parts. Also tried out derusting with vinegar ... worked so well I was actually impressed ... and it's only the 5% acidity stuff.

Never got any wood stacked up there ... gonna suck having to dig it out of the snow.

30F gusty winds high low 30's for today
Looks like the next 3 to 4 days going to be brisk,teens at night mid to upper 20's for high before warm up arrives..won't be see/feeling any mud for a while.

31 inching up to 34 today. We're in for a cold week...woodstove is cranking.

I have a few logs to split, but mostly looking at indoor work along with going to gym today.

dave1949: Do you hang it outside or in a cooler?

I don't have access to a cooler, so how I handle depends on the weather...if cold enough, I hang it in my shed. If not, I either butcher it immediately, or cut the meat off the bones in big sections and refrigerate it for a couple of days before butchering it.

Extra hot coffee this morning. 9° with light snow and a brisk 20 mph+ wind out of the west. Heading to 22° with snow and wind continuing all day. Another day inside. Piling stuff near backdoor ready to be loaded in motorhome. Time to make the dash south for some warmer weather Sunday.

Murph it's the pattern we are in. When a new storm front comes we warm up then front comes thru rain and cold. We are in a repeating pattern so this will take place time and time again for a while. Think December as a whole will be average temperature wise. Janurary on the other hand is a different matter

Morning all. Only 20˚ here this morning. Yesterday I plowed the wet snow off the drive and today it is like an ice rink out there. I spread a salt/sand mix around so at least it is navigable on foot. I'm so not ready for this weather!

13 this morning and headed to 25. Windchill is 2. Hey bright side is it stayed on the correct side of 0. Laughter. Tomorrow is supposed to be above freezing but windy.

Never made it to town yesterday. Too many break downs. So will go try to get things ordered today. Looks like I'm going to have to run me and the boy through quick care while in town also. This head stuff just won't go away.

Buppies & Farmer2009 (& all the rest of you) - I love TBN and this thread specifically. I think it is awesome how we all share our good/bad/otherwise/and weather reports. This is a great spot to chat, like an old country store checker board... Or the office water cooler... Most of the time when I stop posting it is because I have no updates and don't want to be a broken record... Truth is things for me are not as bad as they sound or seem, the Good Lord keeps me barely afloat, there are people in my life who love me, things are slowly getting better and better... So I just don't want to b!tch and moan too much.

But I love this place.

Dave1949 no solution to the florescent light, I can only think to find another fixture and replace it again. The other ballast was rated 7.2 to 8.2 amps and the new one just 7.2 amps. and the ballast was a bit smaller but still if they sell the fixture and the bulbs together at Lowe's you expect them to work with 110/115 electricity (meter checked) coming to them. The florescent fixture next to the new fixture it is working fine and it is on the same electrical line.

We went there yesterday, and found the heat wasn't turned on. Got that done, now need to check it out. A few other chores, then lunch. Life is good. As long as you are warm....

If another one works on the same circuit and switch, the wiring is likely to be okay. Did you read the directions? :laughing:

How about upgrading to an LED fixture? I have some "daylight" spectrum bulbs I'm trying out and I really like the light they produce.
