Finally got the back yard mowed...first pass with the zero-turn (which moved most of the leaves against the fence), then with the walk-behind Snapper with the bagger.
Looks much better, but ****!, was it chilly out there! The walk-behind mower was left running to run it out of gas...that's my last chore for the day, I reckon.

Wifey built a nice toasty fire...very nice!

Dang Roy! That's above and beyond in this weather. We have snowing blowing sideways at the moment. Sit by the fire and relax.

No snow here yet in this part of Canada, but I expect it to come soon as it is snowing all around us.

300UGUY,
you brought a tear to my eye. We always had Great Danes for over 35 years. Both in our mid to late 60's decided to go with smaller dogs that are easier o handle. Last GD was 226 lb. Had to put him at vets for a day. He could not even turn around in the kennel. Had to back him out. We went with Shih Tuzu ( **** zuu). We got 2 with one at 10 lbs the other at 13 lbs. Also have a 70 lb Yellow Lab. We love them all but in our years it takes a lot of getting use to very small doge when you are use to very large ones. Really have to look for them so you don't trip. And this is after 6 years. We thing the Lab is the perfect size for us. I can take him out back into the woods with me. The 2 small ones I can't.
Drove 1300 miles with 2 Danes and my10 year old son in the back seat of a 68 Buick La Sabra. My 14 year old son in the front seat with me. One dog slept all the time the other sat looking out the window all the time. My son was comfortable.
Thanks for bringing back the many fond years of our GD.

Good Morning. 1145, sunny, 59F with 43% humidity. Forecast high of 62F this afternoon with 0% chance of rain, and a low of 35F tonight. It was 31F with a nice white frost when I got up this morning. But today is much nicer than yesterday. That cold wind was blowing all day. The frost touched up the flowers pretty bad. I didn't walk out to the garden, but I'm sure it did the same to the peppers.

We have a chocolate Lab. Like all our dogs, she picked us. The last one was a red Chow named Cedar, and when she died I said I was through with dogs. But when Mocha showed up at the house, she wormed her way into our hearts. My BIL raises Redbone coon hounds, and something like that is really what I need as far as a good farm dog.

I have a family reunion at work. It won't last long enough for me to watch all the football and racing {Nascar is in Dallas, and F1 is in Austin} that need watching. Luckily I can fast forward through ads.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Larro

"David, you are mighty calm about the lady intruder. She must have been good looking. "
Not really, but not so rough to raise concern. I have wondered about the mental aspect. Neighbors are pretty good about watching for unknowns in the neighborhood. We'll be vigilant.

Drew, I suspect you'll really enjoy that spa once installed. Really happy we did that this year.

As for dogs, we have 3 boxers, stay pretty much in the 60-70 lb range. Always had medium to large dogs while relatives would have the littler "trip" dogs. Like mentioned, just so easy to trip on them. Wife says when these have gone to puppy heaven, no more. Our age becomes a factor in that decision for sure. I suspect we might travel a bit and eventually rethink our position. As much a PITA they can be, you just can't discount the companionship. Should Sophie predecease me, I'd give way more consideration to getting a dog :)

Leaning toward the Weber Genesis 330 grill, not the SS model. Seems Weber may stand behind their warranty. Had a Vermont Castings gas grill from HD I really liked, but eventually the inside sheet metal rusted out. Except for the initial price, I've pretty much not liked this Brinkman from the beginning. My MIL still has our old Sears grill from 30 years ago. It was one of those with simple aluminum two piece body, burners and rack on a frame. Not fancy, but guess they quit making them because they last, just replace burners.

To Larro Darro, Sadmo, and all you other pet lovers. Animals choose you ,you do not choose them. Everyone says that "when this ones moves on the the animal heaven , I will never get another". You are right in your thinking that no other animal can ever take the place of the one you just lost. But there is another animal out there that needs the love you gave that one. Go out and get another one. My Lab is going on 11 and starting to slow down a little ( like me ) We know we don't have a lot of time left with him so we are keeping our eves open for another "buddy" for me.
Maybe this one can teach the new one some of his traits.

RS, you are eating chili at 4am and then you want to take a nap?
boy your stomach must be pretty cast iron...
Pretty much ... not much bothers it ...

The woman should be so lucky ... "indie" is almost a daily thing with her (probably as a result of having to live with me :D) ... and forget eating anything right before she hits the rack.
