Just finished cleaning and replacing the refractory inner cover on our Vermont Castings Defiant wood stove. The manual shows a retainer clip, but there wasn’t one on my stove.
Good thing we have a great wood stove sales place in our area and although he did not have the part in stock he went and pulled one off from a new stove and sold it to me.
I asked about the retainer clips and he told me they no longer use them as the outer access cover holds it in place. Wish I would of had one of the clips this morning because my inner unit would not have fallen out and broken!
Stove is back together and running just fine.

Good morning all. 37F this morning sunny and patchy frost. Forecast for 63F and sunny and light breeze. Chasing woodpeckers off the new siding, have had 3 visits so far today. Fridge wouldn't fit in spot so wife will start looking again.

Howdy,

48F with rain promised but none since late last night. The breeze is out of the NNE so we are in the pattern of the storm.

The past few days there have been about four dozen dark-eyed juncos feasting on our weeds and grass seeds. Some of their sparrow cousins are traveling with them. We don't have bird feeders but I try to keep the more or less natural buffet stocked. Open space with grass and weeds isn't really a natural state of things here, but I like to see the sky, the bees and bumblebees like the blooms and the birds like the seeds.

Had blood drawn this morning to test for Lyme and other tick-borne bad stuff. I've had a couple bouts of muscle and joint pain, low-grade fever and extreme lethargy for three-four days (as opposed to my normal somewhat lethargic state :laughing the past two months. The doctor prescribed a two week course of doxycycline without seeing the test results. I think the tests are not all that reliable anyways.

Good Afternoon. 1415, sunny, 76F with 51% humidity. Forecast high of 76F with 0% chance of rain this afternoon, and a low of 46F tonight. Looks like fall is going to make an appearance in NW Florida, even if for a short time.

Just logged on, real busy this morning doing household chores. Now I'm off to work.

Finished my gate repair/replacement project. It's getting a tad warm and it's almost 3:00pm This is a tough call - do I mow or settle in for the evening, let me get a glass of tea whilst (said with a british accent) I ponder.
