When they are 3' to 4' tall and in the circle right in front of the house, then: yes ...Wait. You are supposed to "clean-up" after weed whipping? Huh. Who knew?
Actually " weed whipping" was a bit of misnomer ... brush cutting would have probably been more accurate ...
Back about 20 or so years ago we planted pachysandra in this circle to choke out the weeds ... hundreds and hundreds of plants. It was slow getting going but eventually did well ...
Then we made the error of planting a few ferns from Grandma's house ... those essentially took over ... although the pachysandra is still living - pretty happily apparently - under the ferns ...
The deer seem to like bedding down it ...
Now the wild raspberries are making a run to take over ... along with some kind of thistle ...
A number of years ago some lady - I don't remember who she was - was visiting and remarked to the wife that she just loved our "English garden" ...
Apparently if your weeds bloom you have an "English garden" ...
Who knew ?
