67F @ 07:00 ... heading to bed here in a few ...

Didn't get much cleaning done last night ... ended up doing a whole bunch of grinding though: the tractor-side SSQA brackets, side plates for the shrub bucket, and parts for the grapple.

The image below is four pieces of 1/4" plate that were cut with the O/A torch from the 4' x 8' sheet of plate. They will serve as the bottom of the masts/towers for the upper jaw of the grapple and as mounting points for the SSQA attachment plate.

Being cut with the torch, the edges were pretty rough and the size varied a good bit ... so I tack welded them together and then ground them, so that they would be fairly close:

They will provide an additional 20 degrees of roll back (my loader only has 26 degrees of rollback) for a total of 46 degrees.

Good morning, woke up to 67F and it's heading to 70F. What a beautiful day it could be if it doesn't rain, but rain is in the forcast.

I think rain is in everybody's forecast except west coast where they really need it

What about a plasma cutter?

LOL ... what about a plasma cutter ?

Short of a CNC-driven plasma (or maybe a pantograph), there's going to be some variation ...

We used a 4'+ piece of 3" x 3" x 3/8" angle as a cutting guide for the torch and the cuts were pretty close (UB's hand was lot more steady than mine ...)

Ya gotta understand and keep in mind: I laid out and modeled the grapple in a CAD package with the numeric accuracy set to .0001" ... :D

Given the above, when I say "the size varied a good bit", an 1/8" is a lot ... from my perspective ...

In the big scheme of things, for lots of stuff in this project (but not all), precise fit up really isn't all that critical.

If there's an 1/8" (or 1/4" or ...) gap, just fill it with weld ... ;)

Thanks, Buppies...Looking more closely at the weather forecast, I think I'd better get my outside chores done today first, and then work inside tomorrow.

BTW, went to Costco yesterday to pick up some groceries and empty boxes, and regular gas was $2.73... hadn't seen it under 2.85 before that.

Good Morning. 0740, heavy rain, 71F with 94% humidity. Forecast high of 76F with 100% chance of thunderstorms, and a low of 54F tonight. We are under a tornado watch and a flash flood watch this morning. Last night we had a series of tornado warnings. I haven't heard if there was any that touched down or not. An hour ago when I first rolled out it wasn't raining. That gave me hope the forecast was wrong and I could get my shopping trip in without getting soaked at every stop. No such luck. It was pouring down just a few minutes afterward. It is supposed to clear up about 1400, with much cooler air pushing in behind it.

Most days I don't turn on my computer until after I have done my cardio. It is too easy to waste an hour {or three} without even realizing it. But with the rain this morning I don't guess it is going to matter too much. But I'm still turning it back off until after the sweating just to be on the safe side.

Drew, your new barn addition looks great. All your new plants should get a good drink of water from this system.

Everyone have a good day,

Larro

rswyan try some salt stick pills for cramps. They work wonders and were doctor recommended for me. Lack of potassium can cause cramping and these pills put it back so to speak. I take them to keep from dehydrating and byproduct is less cramping
Bup,

Thanks ... sounds like it would probably be a wise move ...

My diet ain't the greatest ... and I know I don't drink enough water (hardly any at all) ... couple that with drinking coffee (a diuretic), and I could very well actually be dehydrated ... and not even realize it ...

Good call ...

actually, I need to lay all those trees down before the wind gets here. Thanks. When I keep them watered, they stand up, but get the wind over ten mph and I think the vertical will be adjusted to horizontal. Maybe I should go throw some rye seed out today in a few spots, cover it with a little topsoil but one never knows if the whole thing will just wash away in a three incher.
