Good morning!!!!

/ Good morning!!!! #24,121
guys, you are too much....and greatly appreciated.

reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated, but boy am I running on E.
grueling last day of moving van packing, outside in 93 degree weather, just the day that never ended.
Hopefully the movers hit the road yesterday as I did. But no call yet as to when they will show up this morning.

it's too early to discuss this,I need coffee and tylenol for sure, but my discussion with the neighboring young man went well. Thankfully. Contrite and embarrassed are good terms here, and no permanent record. But he knows he screwed up with me and he understood he is history if I ever have to worry about his honesty. I think he shamed himself pretty well and learned from it.

asleep at 8pm up at 3am. groan. So exhausted yesterday...but can't sleep past seven hours. Headed to the local deli for breakfast and come back waiting for the movers. If I can find where I packed my camera, maybe I can get some pics.

the idea of sleeping in my own bed tonight in my new home is going to get me through a long day.

thanks Guys for looking out for me. Kinda nice when I'm all by myself.

Glad to see you're up and about, Drew...

Moving is a major PITA and it'll take a while before you're all squared away....but with that beautiful estate you bought, it'll all be worth it!

59F this morning with clear skies, I think. It's too dark to tell for sure.

Glad you took the time to check in Drew and hope your move-in day is not too stressful. If your bed is ready and you know where your toothbrush is, you are good to go. The rest will wait. Sounds like your discussion with the neighbor produced a good result.

thank you Roy and Dave. I have complete privacy here, surrounded by trees on the perimeter and very open in the middle, where all that lawn is. This is a huge project for me, but I needed one. Just need to take it slowly. My family wanted me to buy a townhouse at the shore and do lunch, etc. No... I want my hands in the dirt. At least while I physically can.
So I strap on my wrist bands and elbow bands and back braces and whatever so I look like the Michelin Man and I can get stuff done if I use my head. If....

I wonder what it will cost to have a locksmith drill/cut off three high security locks on my public storage lockers?
The movers had possession of the keys and now they are "looking for them"... The other trucker comes next Wednesday to pick up the smaller tractor and most of the ag implements. And he can't melt those locks off like Superman.

67 this morning high of 82 later but more rain is now on the horizon. Drew hopefully you get all moved in before the rain hits you later this weekend.
Sounds like your talk went well and a mutual understanding was reached. Good very good indeed

The moving company if the keys are lost would be responsible for any and all costs incurred

Take it nice and easy you have all the time you need to get this done then look back and take stock at what you have accomplished

Poured first cup of coffee. 55° with some clouds this morning. Heading to 79° with chance of thunderstorms late in afternoon. Need to cut grass again. Spending most of my time talking about our travels with our visiting friends.
Drew, you need to relax more.
Good Morning All.

Ron,

Thanks.

What will be really impressive is if I can get it completed and actually get a "done" on it ... lol ...

At any rate, the real fun is in the journey ...

You are obviously an accomplished iron worker / engineer. Great work
Oh and by the way the Mrs Red Bird was on the feeder yesterday raising sand again and it's apparent like some women she can't do a thing with her hair or feathers so to speak

Fun fun, at least its on their dime (I assume anyways), if its on yours, I would suggest an angle grinder and a slicing wheel.

61 very crisp degrees, with only 85 as our high. This has been the best August weather of my years on earth.

Hope you Texas folks get some rain from that tropical weather moving in.

Good Morning. 0610, partly cloudy, 70F with 93% humidity. Forecast high of 90F with 60% chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon, and a low of 73F tonight. Looks like the cool weather has finally found me.

I'm up early {for me} this morning. I need to get my melons side dressed and hoed before the rain comes. The grass also needs cutting, but then it always needs cutting. If I get rained out early I might run to town. The election threw my schedule out the window, and I'm running low on everything.

Drew, don't you over do it today. You need to be able to enjoy your new place, not spend all you time getting to know a new set of Doctors. I'm glad it looks like your young helper is going to work out.

Everyone have a good day,

Larro

A chilly 55F here this morning ... headed up to 82 today ... then 91 tomorrow

Saw a really beauiful night sky last night around 21:00 or so ... long wispy clouds with big open areas full of stars ...

Pulled the metal I had cookin' out of the acid and hosed it off, then loaded it and the pulleys into the little dump wagon that the Simplicity pulls around, took 'em up to the shop, took a pic or two ... and then promptly forgot to unload them out of the wagon ... lol ...

IMG_1451.jpg

Really doesn't feel as though I really got much done last night ...

I did get the ten 1/4" x 4" x 9" gussets for the lower teeth on the grapple cut ... my calculations on the first two were a little off ... but close enough ... can always leave a gap on the shorter one and fill it in with weld ...

As well as getting the four 1/4" x 4" x 4" top plates for the saw horse legs cut, since I wound up with some extra 4" bar stock ... also de-burred the eight 1/4" x 2" x 4" bottom plates for the saw horse legs ...

Vacuumed off the construction toolbox and the circular saw, both of which were pretty crusty (gotta start closing them overhead doors) ... and vacuumed about half the shop floor which had a bunch of slag from trimming the upper jaw teeth yesterday ...

Still got to clean the bird crap off the toolbox though ...

IMG_1461.jpg

Was down there the other day (in the polebarn) and noticed some bird or birds had crapped all over the 55 gallon drum in the little wagon we haul around and use to water plants ... must be a pretty good sized bird by the looks of it ... maybe we have some barn owls roosting in there or something.

I did finally get this little mod done to the bandsaw completed ... the motor seems like it gets awfully hot when it's getting run a lot ... probably due to voltage drop, due to the distance from the house. I had a couple of these little AC muffin fans from Radioshack that I was no longer using so I appropriated one for the saw and stuck it on there:

IMG_1452.jpg

Oh ... and I did manage to get the mounting bracket for the quick couplers for the front aux hydraulics on the loader fabbed up. Been a few years since I've really done any welding ... good to get back into it ... I need the practice.

Fitted the pieces up and clamped 'em down to try and minimize the distortion and then did the outside:

IMG_1454.jpg

IMG_1455.jpg

Then I did a vertical, up on one of the inside joints ... that didn't turn out too well ... I've never mastered that technique/stitch (or any of them for that matter )... I think it looks like I need to move a little quicker:

IMG_1456.jpg

After that I did the other one vertical, down ... which always seems to at least look a little better:

IMG_1458.jpg

Then I drilled out the holes for the bulkhead fittings, hit it with the grinding disc, then a flap disc, and finally gave it a dose of the secret sauce:

IMG_1462.jpg

Stuck the bulkhead fittings and the flush face QC's in it and ... Viola !:

IMG_1464.jpg

IMG_1465.jpg

Also got a piece of t-bar welded onto the bottom shelf to be of the little welding table ... so I can now cut the expanded metal to fit and have a place to store the angle grinders and such ...

Looking back on it now, it seems like it was a reasonably productive evening I guess ... :confused3:

Good Morning! 77˚ cloudy - might rain today. A south bank of clouds and a north bank of clouds are merging.
Drew, I was relieved to see your post early this morning and your style of writing matches up to previous post.

I was in Houston Tuesday and don't miss it a bit. It still feels crowded and rushed.
I had my yearly visit to the "Century Study". This was a non-PET scan year, so no new info was obtain except the cardiologist encouragement to continue the plant based diet and exercise. He seemed to think that when my next pet scan shows less green in one area of the heart he could say that my heart disease is cured. That is the first time I have heard the word cured. There are about 900 in the study (they are still looking for 400 more) and the results fluctuate with the patients commitment to change. Since this ongoing study has already passed the 6 year mark (each patient is committed for 5 years) He was very excited and was telling how the improved circulation in the heart is seen and documented. He described it as a flower blooming in the heart. That's what the PET scan colors of circulation (reds and yellows) look like when the vessels of the heart open up and blood flow improves in a previous low circulation blue and green heart.

The cardiologist was still saddened by the statistics that 85% of the general population do not make any significant changes after a heart incident/procedure and 20% are admitted back to the hospital the first year.

This study was made possible not by the government but by private donations. Looking at list of donors and the millions and millions donated it is truly impressive.

The short video on their home page is very accurate.

Thanks ... you're too kind ... I only wish that it were really so.

I'm just a guy with a some interest ... and maybe a willingness to give it a try.

IOW: someone who doesn't know any better ...

Oh and by the way the Mrs Red Bird was on the feeder yesterday raising sand again and it's apparent like some women she can't do a thing with her hair or feathers so to speak
LOL ... and I'll bet it's all Mr. Red Bird's fault ... and she'll be letting him know soon enough ... if she hasn't already ...

I saw this guy (below) on the suet feeder ... yesterday I think ... I couldn't figure out who or what he was ... thought he (or she) looked a little like he (or she) might have had a little parrot in him there somewhere ...

IMG_1433.jpg

The lighting wasn't all that great ... and the dirty windows sure don't help ... seemed to be grayish with casts of yellow and red in there ...

Then - just before it flew off - it raised it's crest and I knew what it was: another red bird ...

Next bird on the feeder was Mom apparently ... she flew up from somewhere and hopped on within a few seconds of the other one's departure.

At least the kid has learned to feed itself.

It was 55 this AM, nice and cool. I am damaged goods for a few days. Went to let the horses out last night. As the gelding went by, he threw a kick my direction. Smacked me in the outer hand so hard, it knocked my beer bottle half-way down the paddock. That is over 30 feet!. As my hard absorbed the impact, my arm swung up so fast I hit myself in the head. LOL. Almost passed out, took a few seconds to realize what happend.
Got a nice bruise on the hand, but my tendons in my elbow are what is aching this AM.
I had to go back out to get the beer, I could not find it, as I was trying to find my wits. LOL.
Hey, I had a cap on it, but elected to drop it off in the garbage and get a frostier, horse dirt free version.

What did I say about being safe?

Have a great w/e, all.
