Not much done here today. Rain, often pretty heavy, off and on, all day. Lunch with my retiree group, then back home. I am having problems with my internet access from about 8 pm to after midnight. Really just started the last couple of weeks? I might have to upgrade my service to get a faster, more reliable internet access. Of course, this means more $$$. Yuck.

part of the drive down to NC was quite nice this morning, and the trailer just pulled beautifully.

when it wasn't pouring buckets so that everyone slowed to 25mph, well, it wasn't a bad drive down, went 95 this time and much of the construction was done, though there were inevitable lane narrowings.

the rain started to clear just as I was pulling into my new home and the sun is now out. Even better, a young couple stopped over an hour ago just to say hi, he was a local fireman just like the guy cutting my grass, so they must have talked. I think he and his nice wife spent every dime they had building the new home next door to me, sitting out in a proverbial corn field. No landscaping. And he was somewhat slobbering over my tractor and implements. Wait until he sees the second load come in...

I had taken the Kubota around the edge of the property with the mower on, but that part will best be cut by the smaller tractor. I also did a little mowing with the new JD lawn mower and it definitely requires ear plugs which I did not have. Ran great, turned in a very short radius and most importantly, the power steering is truly finger light.

going to take a shower and call it an early night. 4am and rolling since has caught up with me.
but home safe and sound. busy day tomorrow then head back to PA on Thursday. One offer on house, showings every day, thank goodness.

Somehow someone at the hospital thought my mother was ok to release her and sent her home, she fell in the bathroom when she was getting ready to come home and hit her head. I think she is going to be in the hospital a little longer, hopefully next time they will make sure she is well enough to go home. After seeing her last night I was dumb founded as to why anyone thought she was well enough to go home.

Sorry about your Mom taking a spill Gary. Let's hope the hospital uses better judgement going forward. Many of us are at that age where our surviving parents are caught between sort of okay on a good day, and not okay. There aren't a lot of good options. We (siblings and I) are in the process of signing Mom up for some household help with chores, meals, grocery shopping, etc. It's known as "Home Care" in the US and is offered by national/regional franchises. We don't know what else to do at this point. She is too well to be in a nursing home. Assisted Living homes accomplish about the same thing as Home Care but at much higher costs.

Today's haul cleaning up around the old home site included one small and two large engine starting hand cranks, a small severely rusted screw jack with parts missing, and a carriage or wagon foot step. I think this is the last area where I will find lots of junk although I'm sure that isn't the end of it. Compared to what I started with, today's finds were very minor. I bet after it rains tomorrow I can walk around and find a few more bits and pieces.

Sorry to hear about your mom's fall. It seems like the hospitals push them out the door before they are ready. My mom is getting discharged from the rehab in Panama City tomorrow morning. They said she was ready to come home with the help of Home Health Care, but she doesn't feel ready yet. So she is going to the rehab in Blountstown for a little while. Her insurance will cover 100 days, but I hope a week or two is all she will need.

Drew, I have a pair of noise reducing headphones I use with my tractors. I found mine in a thrift store, but there is lots to choose from on Amazon. And you can get a decent mp3 player for about $30.
