coffee pot is still brewing, 47 degrees going to 75. .
Yesterday was fun too, finished all my field mowing in about five hours and was kept company by a hawk looking for mice and across the street a guy in an old farmall was tedding(?) his hay and while I rode in airconditioned dust free comfort, he was out there in the sun, dust swirling all around him, reminded me of when I was young doing our own farm fields. No wonder the dermatologist is working overtime on me now.

As much fun as yesterday was, it did not start out well. The cleaning ladies did a beautiful job cleaning my house, and certainly the utility sink next to the washer.
I just wish they had put the drain hose from the washer back into the utility sink when they were done. Yup, I dumped an entire load of wash water into the basement.
well, at least it was a little sudsy...fans and dehumidifier are running like crazy down there after I mopped the worst up. We used to have that hose tied up ,but when we got a new utility sink, the tiedown disappeared. It really ought to be plumbed permanently but for now, I am putting a zip tie on that cord.

am putting the box blade and york rake back on this afternoon to smooth out the remnants of last years's field garden. Boy did the quick hitch finally make taking that hugely heavy mower off easier, and my weight box back on. (Oh, I also moved about ten loads of dirt yesterday.) And today off goes the weight box and on goes something else, and so far, I can do it by myself. well, I can if it works, and sometimes as we all know those hitches don't line up with implements or vice versa.

50 going to 79 today.
Yesterday was a blast. We toured the Spotsylvania Courthouse Battlefield and then the A Smith Bowman Distillery in Fredericksburg - The only bourbon distillery outside of Kentucky. Very interesting and educational day. There's also a craft beer brewery next door, so something for everyone. I drank water.
My oldest son announced he and his girlfriend just got engaged. My middle son's girlfriend looked longingly at the ring.
We ended the day with a corn hole tournament, a big crab leg feast and shrimp boil. Larro, sorry I forgot to take pictures for your supper thread.
Drew, congrats on your clean basement! :)

45 right now, high of 76 predicted with clear and sunny skies! Going to be a nice day!

Didn't get the mowing done, but I did drop 6-7 small trees. Those will set for a week or so, then I'll trim the branches and either use the trunks (5-6 inches in diameter) for firewood or wood chips. I need both.
Speaking of firewood, I moved what firewood we had left from last winter to make way for the 2 cords of green wood being delivered today. I'll be stacking the new stuff over the next few days when I get off work.

A buddy of mine installed a 3 lamp LED security lamp on the back of the house. It actually replaced an existing fixture. This one is a "dusk to dawn" flood light and it really does light up the back yard. I was quite impressed with the output...now we see if it holds up for the long term.

I wore out my 'bump' head years ago and replaced it with a fixed line head. You can use heavier line, so it last longer and will eat through most weeds and briars.

Larro

Yup, gave up on those fancy heads, simply cut a bunch of the heaviest line that fits in the holes. Takes maybe 30 seconds to thread the holes. Don't remember the size, but buy the 500ft spool at HD, have 2 marks on the shelf for measurement and a pair of old dog nail clippers to cut. When wife does the weed eating, she threads about half dozen spares onto her vest - she is harder on the lines than I am LOL. We have a maruyama trimmer that takes a single string and a shindaiwa that takes 2.

That sounds like the ticket. Good to know I am not alone in this. :D

The trimmer is a Stihl FS250 and usually has the brush blade on it. About 5-6 times a year I need string to clean-up along the chain link fence and around some big rocks. It's really way more trimmer size and weight than would be wanted for normal yard trimming if I did it very often. It has a shoulder harness and bicycle handles and will do some serious brush & heavy weed cutting, or saplings with the saw bade on.

Maybe I should get a smaller trimmer dedicated to the light-duty stuff and teach Sharon how to use it.

Beautiful day, sunny and upper 70's forecast. I hope the sun kicks up a little breeze as it warms up.

Morning all, 65F this morning and is to be as high as 84F by this evening. More painting to do and have to put my exhaust back on my car. Also going to look as more homes with a real estate agent. Going to be a busy day.
