Good afternoon Ron. Just had my last one too, got up way too early and boy the day was long.
And very very good. 74 degrees and breezy out, pollen flying everywhere, and a fast moving storm system dropping down out of the Great Lakes, through the Poconos and looks headed right at me. different direction for sure, used to the systems from the South West, not the North West. And then rainy weather for a few days.
Well, the lawn got mowed, six tomato plants were purchased and planted, the deck cleaned off, those little maple pinwheel things are everywhere, thank you neighbor..., the lawn reseeded/patched, lots of hanging plants hung, and the Spring flowers are blooming away. A very nice day to be outside.
I'll take another one just like today please.
going to rain tomorrow, was supposed to take one of my mowers in to the local dealer to install new tires, and have no desire to do that in the rain. Four tires for about a hundred bucks delivered, one weeny little Simplicity coronet rider. I had lent it to a friend for several years, and it was too small for him, so I gave him my John Deere lawn tractor, an LX280, and boy is he happy now. Needless to say, we are very good friends...back to high school.
so until I sell my current suburban home this little rider is just fine, and fits in my little garden shed quite nicely, but geez like a kids toy compared to the JD. And the tread is almost nonexistent, wouldn't climb several spots in my yard so I figured for a hundred bucks, new shoes are in order. Reminds me of baby clothes the tires are so small...but the tread is deep and much more aggressive which is what I want, though they still are turf tires.
I'm waiting until I get to my new place/farm to see what I really need there. Besides, this JD did not have power steering and I'm finding I need that.
The new replacement JD 300 series doesn't have power steering, have to go to the 500 or 700 series and those are serious investments. I'm not a fan of zero turns, had a nice Ferris with the full suspension, but it hurt my arms to use it. A regular steering wheel is better for me. Advanced arthritis is not much fun at times but there are work arounds. And reasons for new mowers! A nice diesel Kubota out front would be nice, but I priced one at twenty grand plus and hey, Husqvarna makes one for under three thousand and they look similar, so must be the same...
