well, little update. the number one rated purplehull pea recipe. Yup, things always go better with bacon:

Drew, they are just another field pea. You pick them green, but they can be left on the bush to dry and saved that way. And the recipe is just about right. These days, with my campaign for Less Larro, I might drain the bacon fat though. But the peas right by themselves are high in calories.

I'm excited about some speckled pea seed I found in one of my tool buckets. I like the dark peas, as they have a dark soup. Also the hard peas are a little more bug resistance. I don't like using poison if I can help it. It kills the bees and butterflies as well as the pests. I think these are iron and clay peas. They are used a lot in food plots for deer and turkey as they are prone to grow large, but I planted a few rows in my garden, and a few at Mamma's.

Morning all! 50F here but only going to 56F. Winds WSW 20-30mph. They say a mix of sun and clouds.
The warm breeze will help to dry us out after all that rain.
I've got my Army trailer full of compost to empty today and 4 hoses to untangle.

GM all, 48 degrees here and looks like it will be a beautiful day to work outside, what with all the tree debris finally cleared I will pull the FEL off the tractor and then change the oil and filter. Then try to catch up with the mowing. Enjoy your weekend, everyone.

48*F & rain this morning. Chance of 75* and widely scattered t-storms this afternoon.

I worked the beer stand for a couple of years in the village where we lived in Germany. The annual Loewen Festival. Oompah bands in the afternoon, dance/rock bands in the evening for the younger set. Brats, bauchlappen (pork side meat) and schwenkbratten (grilled marinated pork butt steaks) and french fries all day & night. It's unbelievable how much pilsner beer a crowd of Germans can drink on a sunny day.

Then there is beer with Coke and beer with lemonade for those who like to knock the bitter taste off a bit. There is nothing quick about real pilsner beer from a tap, it has a very foamy head that has to settle a couple times to get the glass full. Adding Coke slows it down even more. Good times and free beer for the stand workers.
