A side note on JFK's death. That Christmas we gave our home room teacher, Mr. Dick, Yes, that's really his name, a rifle exactly like the one that JFK was shot with, sans scope. It was used and we paid $7 for that Italian rifle at the Rexall drug store in Southgate Plaza in the Portlock district of Chesapeake, VA. we wrapped and took it to school. Can you imagine sixth graders bringing a rifle to school nowadays?

I have one of them, also without the scope. My daddy was a Longshoreman, and for years they were shipping scrap from cut up WWII ships. One of the scrappers found the weapon on a ship and sold it to Daddy. It is a pretty good gun, but the ammo isn't cheap. I haven't shot it in years.

In high school, many of us drove pickups, with gun racks in the back, and guns in those racks. Most of us had old used trucks, with no A/C. In the Fall and late Spring, due to the hot temps, we didn't roll up the windows, so we didn't lock the doors. No one ever bothered those guns. Now, schools are "gun free" zones, and schools get shot up. Go figure? :confused3:

Another side note....I think every girl that had passed puberty carried Midol in her handbag. If you were out and needed one, another girl would be happy to give you a couple if hers. That would be taboo today too. So, some girls are supposed to just sit and hurt? How much learning goes on then?

Timothy Eugene Lar^*$#@ was what my mother and father named me. My daddy was named Eugene and went by Gene, but I'm not sure where the Timothy came from. I picked up Larro {the} Darro in the Navy, and it kind of stuck. {Larro is a play on my last name} I can tell how long folks have known me by what name they use. When I was a real little tyke, I was Timbo. Then all through school it was Timmy. In the Navy it was Larro. After Margie and I married and I moved to Blountstown it is Tim. I use Larro as my online ID because most folks around here don't know it, not that I'm hiding or anything. But if you come to Altha hoping to surprise me, you could ask all 50 people in town and none of them would have heard of me, unless you just got lucky and ask the right one or two.

I don't care what you call me, as long as you don't call me late to supper.

Larro

Since the cat's out of the bag can I call you Tim again? My dad was known as John, J L, Stonewall, Dick or Preacher so nicknames around here are common. I've been called Madge by a former co-worker, Maggie Mae by my best friend and Marie by my former favorite boss.

37 degrees and rain looks like showers all day long. After many years of wanting we have started building the workshop / garage (garage keeps the wife thinking park car) this month. Yesterday we finished filling the blocks and have the plate on and the first wall up! Got it up around 6:30 last night. It is going to be 22 x 42 with an upstairs storage area.

Looks like a good project :)

Senior high history class. We all sat there stunned, and watched the teacher try to hold back his tears.
There was talk of the nuclear bombs coming next...a scary day for kids.

Senior home room, we all sat stunned.

;40 degrees this morning and looks like a sunny day for us.
We finished one side wall yesterday and put up the front entry wall
now today we will build the other side wall and put both sides up and tie them all together
The side walls are right at 42 feet long so we will certainly have a few more people to pick them up in place.
Then it is the wait until next week to get the trusses in an up, then comes the roofing material
Mother Nature is holding out for us at least for this week.
