Good morning!!!!

Roy,
from all of us in PA, we will always be glad to welcome you back! And we will stop speculating on the matter.
We're expecting a few inches of the white stuff shortly, but unlike where you are in VT, it's
more of a rarity, or to my wife and all the other little kids, a treat.

My first job out of college in 1971 was with a food company with training at a college in VT. In the winter.
I thought it was amazing, it snowed almost every day and luckily I had grown up in what was then "country" and snow
didn't stop anyone. You had sand in your trunk and snow tires on the car. And the sand would invariably get broken and make a mess, until
you wised up and put it in a plastic bag... So with a bag of sand in my car and Firestone snow tires on my car, off I went at the crack of dawn in the snow
getting to work, fiddling with the headlights to see if high beams really were better, or just created more glare in the heavy snow.
Good gloves, a good scraper, a hat and boots were surely the equipment of the day.
My memory was that they cindered the roads more than salted them, as the roads would build up quite a layer of packed snow.

Snow seems to make the landscape look unspoiled, ready for a new beginning.
Only 29 here, but the nights have gotten cold, and winter is truly setting in.
Since cold air drops, I know you sent it our way. Thanks.

Good Morning! 34˚ on the paver hill and sunny with a few high clouds. Dad has been waiting for me to finish the drive and it looks like his catch-up maintenance project list is longer than mine.

Morning all, 36º this morning and going to hit 40º something for a high.

Christmas was spent with the wifes' half of the family at a x-country ski lodge near Butte, MT. It was VERY cold but the sun was out most days and it was beautiful country.

I don't have "rain gear" for hunting, so I'm probably NOT hunting today...

Be well.
David

David, I do have gortex hunting attire and figured it would work well for skiing. The younger kids who ski and have the latest fashion sure gave me a hard time. :)

The snow is coming down, everything is blanketed in white, and
no texting SUV driver has driven into our local transformer, so we still have power.
The fire is blazing and my wife is making her first batch of home made pasta for her new
Atlas pasta machine, one of the basic manual kinds. I expect dinner to be interesting to say the least.

And with the temp staying below freezing, I've got the serious itch to get in my warm cab tractor and go grapple some logs out of
the woods now that the ground has frozen. Or at least go saw some big logs with my new larger chain saw.
Does it sound like I want to go out and play?...:dance1:

You will be surprised at how much better the homemade pasta tastes...totally different than the store bought , especially on the wider noodles , like lasagna or linguini...My Mrs. has a pasta machine and we really enjoy it.

About 4" of snow on the ground here, spent much of today helping pack and move stuff for the soon-to-be-ex with the help of one of her brothers and a pair of her friends. Nice to FINALLY get some kind of help and much to my amazement so far nobody has said anything about the clutter here...

ok, very first batch. Well actually batch two, the first one cleans the machine.
Lots of flour in the kitchen, I helped with cranking the pasta machine, and then was shooed off.

we got two to three inches of snow, as predicted, just enough to fire up the snowblower, if only to run the thing.
That was about all I accomplished today, no achievement awards for me today for sure.
Though I believe the proper speed of cranking the pasta machine might have some good benefit, if only to calm the cook.

This first batch is 50/50 Bob's something semolina and brand name all purpose flour. We were all set to go 100% semolina but heeded suggestions to
try a hybrid. The fun is experimenting with the different percentages until we find the one we like the most. Along with the pasta machine, I also gave my wife a sampler of baking flours so she's all
set to experiment.

I've had whole wheat spaghetti before, and well, it could use a little blending of some lighter weight flours in with it. Bulgar wheat spaghetti, that was it.
Heavy duty stuff. I think I used what we didn't eat to patch the sidewalk...:D It set up like cement.

Morning Y'all.

33 and mostly clear, bright full moon shows there is a small amount of clouds.
We had snow mixed with mostly rain yesterday from 7:30 to 10, and then just rain until noon, then it was VERY nice out.

The wife and I tried the 2nd time to go see the new James Bond, and this time the 4pm showing was SOLD OUT! :mur:

So we went shopping and grabbed chinese and went home...

I did see LstInThot & his bride when driving in the movie theatre parking lot and said "Howdy"...

Be well all of you,
David

14 degrees out...just came in from a smoke and it sure looks like more snow in the clouds,
We've got about 12-15 inches in the last few days. I would not be surprised to see a few more inches today.
My only chores are to plow and then do some essentials shopping today and wash some clothes (no washer-dryer here yet).

Good morning All, we had snow last night, about 5 or 6 inches and right now it is in the low twenties. Not sure what the day has for us, but the weather report says there is a chance of snow. Do some snow blowing this morning bring in the fire wood and then it is football this afternoon and tonight. Life sure is tough LOL!
