Good hours on the tractor with flail today. Got the whole Laupahoehoe end of the property cut. So much better when I get it at reasonable height.
Maybe get Hilo end tomorrow.

Good Evening

Just back from town - spent a couple hours with the ice cream cruisers. It was nice to see a big crowd, lots of vehicles, and 8 of us drove out for ice cream. Without the El Camino operational, I got to ride in a '66 Nova. What a car, street legal track racer, very quick, a Barrett-Jackson show car, some years ago.

I'd written a few days ago my neighbor and his son took that tree down and did a lot of trimming. I need to get to the bank to get some money (figure $200 each) for them.... they won't want to accept, but I'll be insisting

that's why I buy "Maintenance Beer" ... or also "Gift Beer" - other than that, I generally have no alcohol at home

Sorry about your fall, I know how difficult that can be - recover quickly ok
We live in a rancher and if we ever move (I'd like to get out of Vermont), it'll be another single-story house.
Stairs are tough for me... wife has problems too.

Is it a one step drop ? Could you / do you have enough space, for a short Ramp in that area ? Thinking that a ramp could be built over the step(s). The railing is a good idea either way.
We had a ramp at one point that was about 100 ft long - 8 foot rise, it zig zagged along the side of the house, with a stairway on the one end. I miss it, way more convenient for me than steps.

BEF - sorry to hear the offer was not accepted.

Mostly - yes, the down time is minimal :)

It is a one step drop.
When my wife broke her leg last year, I bought ramps since she was in a wheelchair quite a while. That was the only way we could get her out for doctor's visits and anything else. We still have them (needed two due to the width of the wheelchair.
For me, it was tough walking down them...and wintertime in Vermont, I think they'd be dangerous (with or without a railing) for me since with little control of my right leg below the knee.
The railing is a better solution (meaning safer) ...something just long enough to use when stepping up or down

good morning all
looks like a nice Fall day, high in low 80's.

should be a fun morning, going to help a younger friend with his brand
new Kubota LX3310. Bought it to clear snow at their business. Has never owned a tractor so this will be a review
of basics, and safety issues. He doesn't have a plow or blower yet, or a snow pusher, not sure what he is going to wind up with.
Loading docks at business are kind of tricky, on an angle, not a lot of straight runs. He is very mechanically minded, should pick this up easily.
He was all set to buy a slightly used B2650 but found this model instead, next size up.

I am sure he was in his garage last night, just got tractor yesterday afternoon, putting about ten coats of wax on the tractor. He spent 17 hours
putting a special wax job on his new GMC truck, not like this tractor will be used hard and put away wet. Good news is they bought it from a guy who put
60 hours on it and realized he didn't have enough to do with it. So they got a pristine tractor likely for close to new price.
Will have fun explaining how Kubota orange fades...though with his wax job and keeping the tractor inside warehouse at work means it will look new likely forever.

I was impressed how the new King of England handled things yesterday. Or should I say King of the Commonwealth?
Will be interesting to see who shows up for Queen's funeral. Somehow I don't think Putin will get invited...

glad to see Southern CA getting some rain.

have a great weekend guys

56° now dew point 52° sunny in the mid 80’s today.

Managed to get all the trimming done yesterday and should be able to get mowing done today after a couple of errands this morning. Not sure what other trouble I will get into today.

Enjoy your day everyone

55 going to 78. So nice.

Sorry about the stumble, Roy...feel better soon!

BEF, bummer on the lot. Hope you had a good day off.

RNG, I saw that tomato spill on the news. Are they gonna rename that highway Ketchup Road?

Scaredy, I've never been a Chevy guy, but always liked that Nova.

Had a fun, long hike yesterday. Talked with one section hiker from Kentucky who was just back on the trail. First day after having to return home from Shenandoah to have heart surgery...now back and trying to get to at least Harper's Ferry this year. It's been amazing how many folks I've talked with that are back on the trail after knee or hip replacement, or other health issues. This guy's trail name was Willy Pyro because of his fire-starting abilities.

I talked with another flip-flopper who was trail-named Rude...I didn't ask the origin of that name. He had hiked from Harper's Ferry north to Katahdin, and was now finishing the trail by hiking from Harper's to Georgia...getting the best of the weather in both halves.

BEF, I met a guy on the trail from Staunton...lives two blocks from the train station and knew all about that Virginia Scenic Railway excursion we're taking next month...I joked that I'd see him again next month, but didn't get an invite for breakfast. :(

sadly it was before digital cameras, so I can't find a picture, but I had a medium blue Nova, deluxe trim, sport wheels, 305 V8, sedan, this was my insurance

agent car and I couldn't be too wild. I moved back to New Hope from working at Travelers in Hartford CT and that was around 1978.
Bought the Nova from local Chevy dealer, special ordered it.
Clean, nice looking car. V8 had pitiful power back then, but at least sounded nice.
Had that for a couple of years, then settled into many years of Buick Lesabres and other cars big enough to haul clients to lunch.

I miss Toppop when I think of cars....Scaredy you have big shoes to fill on the car show beat. Keep up the good work.
Pretty sure we all love pics of old cars.

great pictures Wngsprd.

Nice pics wngsprd.

60 outside this AM. Hoping it dries up a lot before the rains move in over night. Really need to cut the back yards and pastures.

Shot the whole day with insurance paper work and quotes yesterday. And another kicker the claim check has to go through the mortgage company too. More bureaucracy at work. Looks also like we are going to have to pony up with some funds to get it all back together. Someone in the future will be happy it was done right and they will not have to worry about any roofs on this property for a generation or two. LOL.

Me, I need to stop the funds going out of the bank accounts. That city apartment we had a while back sure looks better and better. I could be on a beach somewhere right now. Sheesh.............

Anyway, the weekend is here and I need some food in the fridge. With the rain coming, doubt I will do much else today.

Hope all have a great weekend, and be safe in what you are doing.

Morning! 72 going to 85 today. That is a 15 degree reduction in the daily high after some much needed rain. I will be taking the MX5200 out for some much needed road maintenance today. Will start with the scraper box and go to the land plane if needed The washboard has gotten pretty bad over the summer months. This is a job the Terex used to do. Will see how the MX can do - it weighs significantly less than the Terex did. The Terex found a new home, returning 1/2 the output for the MX.
Nice cars. I miss the car shows pre-pandemic. Years ago I bought a new Mustang 5.0 GT premium. Amazing how much improved the modern Mustang is. More power, better handling, and comfort compared to the original Pony car.

Here's the fog that didn't post.View attachment 761790

Looks like massanutten in the background.

I almost took a drive up on skyline yesterday, but we started way too late for that.

Yesterday we were in the northern end of the WV county with the lot we like. It doesn’t have the views the south end has. We were down along the river. Pretty near Winchester.

I hope I can get day off from my new job in October for the train ride. Might have to quit the 2nd week. .

57° right now...high in the low 80's (that's been the predicted high for the last few days, but it actually never got above the mid to upper 70's...and that's fine with me).

Slept lousy last night. Up sometime between 0100 and 0200, couldn't get back to sleep to save my butt. So, finally got tired enough to doze off around 0400 or so. Woke a little after 0830...

Same plans as described earlier except no dump run today. I'll head out to get fuel in a bit... also stop at the bank.

Way too wet (dew) to think about chipping and mowing this morning... should be dry by 1100. As far as the chipping, I'll do what I can do... my side still gets a twinge from that fall I took a couple weeks ago. I feel it mostly when driving now.... not so sure about mowing today because of that since a ZTR has a pretty rough ride as most of you know. But I'll give it a try
