Good evening.
It was overcast all day we got .01” of rain, not going to make jump on mower anytime soon.

No real projects today, staging gear for next weekends gig. Pulling it all out and getting it all ready. We have to provide our own PA and lighting. Been spoiled by having PA and back line provided and pretty much just showing up. I’m too old to be a roadie anymore.

Tomorrow should be a fun day, the plan is to knock out all of Drew’s projects. He’s bringing Ken to help as well, hopefully we can be productive. Looking forward to tasting his muffins. I gave him a good challenge, I have to watch carbs and sugar, my wife can’t tolerate gluten, so generally there isn’t a lot to look forward to in baked goods.

A lot of people in our WFPB group also cannot tolerate gluten. Good thing there are so many good substitutes flours to choose from, I'm sure you know most of them.

My wife's brownies use oat flour and black beans. However the sweetness is from maple syrup, which I suspect would eliminate your participation, but you could watch your wife enjoy them - gluten free.

Good (Sunday) morning... actually, it's just gone noon... A very mild overnight Low of 8.4C with 6.1mm of rain in the gauge. The wind has really picked up since I returned from Church and it is now partially sunny. High 0f 13C.

All that's going to change for the rest of the week with a cold front coming through = Lows around 0-1C and Highs around 10C.

Lazy rest of the Sunday is the plan. Take care all.

good morning all
warm sticky day, surprising .46 rain last night, that will do something worthwhile for the garden.
More showers tonight.

drinking my coffee, eating an egg sandwich, then will head North to Paul's home.

I learned a lot looking at flours. Keto, Paleo, lots of different variations.
Don, thanks for hints. Have the applesauce, etc. Just have to remember to use them.

feels strange not going to church this morning but I think the three of us will have a very good time this morning.
Two very creative guys, serious brain power, interested to see how we resolve my bolt to nowhere, the one with the peekaboo window.

hope you all have a nice day. I'll take lots of pics

July 17th. Time flies.........

Wagtail, how about sending some of that cool air to Texas?
Whipper is overheating on his walks.

this coming week temps are in the mid to high 90's. Going to go for a ride with my restricted mobility friend in the golf cart, then will come back and soak
in his swimming pool. They just got a quote for 85 grand to replace the decking on their pool. Yikes. 22 years old, lovely small pool.
Grew up with a 25x50 foot pool on farm with 12 foot depth. Concrete block. Built in 1959. Leaked like a sieve. I love to swim but happy to have friend with pool, don't want to own one.

1959 must have been a good year. Mom got a new station wagon, silver Chevy Biscayne (Dad, why so cheap???) with a six and three on the tree. One of the last ones I guess.
Boy that car was a dog. Loaded with kids going to soccer practice, had a hard time getting up our steep hills. Dad learned, V-8's arrived. He wasn't a car guy at all, not materialistic, nor was his Father. My grandfather owned a 1955 Chevy 210 or whatever the cheapest model was, light green, 4 door, same six and three on tree. That became one of my first cars to drive.
Me and my Blue Flame Six. What a reliable car that was. Metal felt like it was 1/4 inch thick.
Those old cars drive like trucks compared to modern cars. But great fun for a weekend cruise.

that sounds skeptical on the credit card Randy.

all packed, oil, filter, filter wrench, diaper pad, funnel, extra parts.
picked some nice veggies and lettuce and will take that along.

speaking of lettuce, I'm amazed I have any. There must be a real psychological advantage of having the white
electric fence tapes there, despite not being on. Lettuce just hanging over and out, ready to be eaten.
But my new little bunny was over eating the cracked corn in the feed for the birdfeeders. He's ten feet away from the lettuce.
at this point, lettuce is pretty much done, maybe I'll cut some of the junky stuff and leave it out on a tree stump in the back.
I like rabbits a lot. Just not in my garden. And boy that's where they usually want to be. Discerning diners.

Good Morning
It’s 70 and supposed to make it to upper 80’s. Dew point is 69, so it’s pretty sticky, and likely foggy in spots.

Drew and Ken are coming over for a play date in the shop to help Drew with some of his “chores”. I’m sure that our adventures will be well documented by Drew.

I guess I’m going to eat my bowl of Special K and head over to the shop and make some room.

Youngest son and his fiancé just adopted a dog, I expect that a visit from them is likely as well.

68F and mostly cloudy @ 07:00, heading up to a high of around 76F with a 95% chance of precipitation. Scattered thunderstorms in the morning and then thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. Locally heavy rains possible. Similar weather on tap for tomorrow with somewhat higher temps (80F)

LWS reports we got 0.21" here yesterday and another 0.17" since midnight. Weather guessers predicting we could get as much 2.25" through Monday which would be welcome.

Got 2 dump cart loads of screened compost hauled down to that new planting bed underneath the maple tree and placed first thing yesterday. Probably will need several more.

Mowed most of front lawn before rain started, was able to get it finished up after rain stopped.

Moved most of the Shasta Daisies around back, also some other plants.

Got most of the eastern edge of the flower bed mulched.

Planted the "Cherry Berry" and "Raspberry Sundae" hostas in that new planting bed under the big maple.

Harvested a couple more zucchini from the garden. Should have some Yellow Crookneck in the next day or two.

Warmed up some spaghetti for dinner.

On agenda for today:

Cut some more 2' tall chickenwire and make up more cages so I can get more pepper plants out of their pots and into the ground. These ones are fairly small (6" - 8" tall) Or maybe get the eggplants in (also small)

Noticed some nipping on one of the smaller tomato plants in a pot around back up next to the house, suspect it might be chipmunks (there were 5 of them around the bird feeder yesterday) so will need to refill and rebait the trap back there.

Replace bag on Japanese Beetle trap. Wasn't quite full yesterday, but it's been out there long enough now that it will be stinkin' ... which will repel them if it's not changed out.

Finish up staining shelf for The Woman's aquarium planter stand. Plantings in there are looking pretty good:

IMG_1873 copy.jpg

Do a little watering of some plants which are under the overhangs which aren't getting any rain.

Make up a new batch of fresh juice for the hummers, bring in feeder and wash it, then refill. Will be the first time it's been refilled this year.

Trip to other hardware store to see if I can find an o-ring for that one hand sprayer pump.

Finally: spend some time up in the shop working on the B2910.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday ... (y)

Morning all, rain came through and looks like it helped a bit.
Deck powerwashing is finally finished.

Off (late) to Paul's to help Drew.

Tonight I need to fix a fret on sons guitar.

Hopefully some Ash milling on the chainsaw mill this coming week, promised some friends I would get that done.

Trip pictures tomorrow, dog walked and fed and time to load myself in the car,

Was 66 earlier, when I went outside to pick up storm damage before sunrise...felt good as the fog crept by. Now it's sunny and feels muggy.

We got over 2 inches of rain yesterday afternoon, and lost another tree limb, and the wind ripped a brass grommet out of a thick fabric red, white, and blue banner...so still have some more clean up with the chainsaw, plus the plumbing repair.

Was able to get 3 roasts completed, but stopped for a short while during the worst of the storm in case we lost power. So, I have 5 different coffees to send home with the kids...all with my Wingspread labels attached to the bag. They brought my wife a 46" tall painted steel sculpture of a Great Blue Heron, like in my avatar. I think it's taller than the real bird because the legs are longer.

When the storm ended, fired up the grill and grilled chickens and vegetables from our garden.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

The great blue heron is the largest heron native to North America. Among all extant herons, it is surpassed in size only by the goliath heron (Ardea goliath) and the white-bellied heron (Ardea insignis). It exhibits a minor degree of ****** dimorphism; with males slightly larger than females, but otherwise the sexes are not easily outwardly distinguishable. It has head-to-tail length of 91–137 cm (36–54 in), a wingspan of 167–201 cm (66–79 in), a height of 115–138 cm (45–54 in), and a weight of 1.82–3.6 kg (4.0–7.9 lb)
It's a big bird alright!
