Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low of 61°, high only supposed to be 82°. Mostly cloudy, chance of showers, better chances of T-storms this evening. Hope so.....

So glad I struggled in the heat yesterday to finish the weed execution.... but glad it's done.

Today's agenda will be to build a border around the last few trees behind the shed. This includes an apple tree that has the biggest crop of apples that has happened since I planted it 20 years ago. I wonder if being on the drip irrigation and getting shielded from the wind by the new hobbyshack has anything to do with it......

Before the border gets done, I need to move some stuff that was stored there... a 350 gal water tank, my back blade, forks, and the cement mixer. Of course, I piled the 4x4's that will be used for the border in front of all the other stuff. i have to be strategic in where I move the stuff to.... I don't want to have to move it again unless I'm going to use it.... probably just over near the other stockpile of materials.

RNG, glad you got to see the launch. Pretty spectacular plume.

Drew, Jersey blueberries.... best in the world. Along with the Jersey Silver Queen corn.... Is that still the popular hybrid?

I miss all the farm stands... nothing out here like that... tough to grow just about anything without a tremendous amount of care / work.

Everyone have a great day!

Poking big needles near the spinal cord really requires you to not move around, and any of you who has ever
had a spinal tap know what that feels like. I'd rather be knocked out...
.

I was awake for my spinal tap, never felt a thing. They did use a local pain med, but I don’t remember what.

65° now, dew point 59° with high’s around 90° today. Maybe slight chance of some quick passing thunderstorms late afternoon.

When mowing yesterday put up quite a dust cloud lol. It’s to bad the rains couldn’t balance out around the country, it’s either feast or famine (to overstate the obvious).
Not much planned for today, finish mowing the front this morning, the rest of the day will be conserve energy time.

Neat seeing starlink launch I still need to get my wire permanently thru the wall and get the system connected to my house network. Still got router in garage, behind a steel door with cable going out under garage door.

I saw space shuttle launch once, from Orlando.

Need to make a PO run this morning.

86F and partly cloudy @ 13:15, HI 87F. Heading up to a high of around 86F.

Bet we beat that.

Agenda for today:

Refill hopper feeder.

Set stakes for west boundary line for garden area and run a string line. Need to get out there and do that asap as Woman has already been out there weeding the irises (like a maniac) and cooking in the sun. She came in once to cool off and just went back out.

Finish up second 4' tall tomato cage and get one of the larger plants planted.

Cut another 5' length of the 4' tall chickenwire for a cage for the west pear tree. If I get that one made up and we get it installed, it will free up another 2' cage for a pepper plant.

Cut some more rebar stakes for cages. Still have one 20' length of rebar up in the shop I can use before I have to break out the rosebud and heat up all the bent pieces to straighten them out.

Shorten up the stake hoops for the dahlias and help her out with those.

Change out bag on Japanese Beetle trap.

Move the 9 Shasta Daisies around back so they get some sun.

Spray edge of flowerbed so it can be mulched.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Tuesday ... (y)

Good Morning, I mostly caught up on the last 12 pages now

I had a long day yesterday (9:30 AM - 11 PM) that completely changed my day / week around. A friend called me and I ended up changing my appointments / errands around for the week. He needed a ride to the Kamloops hospital - 1.5 hrs drive, as he had a surgery scheduled for 2 pm. They got him in at 5 PM. Released at 7:30 PM, and very hungry.

I had gone to a Denny's restaurant while I waited the day out. 2 hrs there for a casual lunch

I had taken the El Camino out for that trip, and as they do, strangers approach and start chatting :) A good way to spend some time. Well in this case a woman came over to look at the car, she said a few things that clued me in to her story, so I listened... I had plenty of time. She took photos of the El Camino.
- she told me about her current road trip with no place to go etc, struggles with Mental Health, heartache over a recent breakup in an abusive relationship, substance issues, trouble with Police, Probation, etc (I didn't tell her until much later, that I had been a probation officer for 26 yrs) - for some reason, this kinda thing happens to me a lot :)
- she was struggling, just needed someone to listen
- at one point she mentioned MILE O, Alaska Highway. Turns out that she was from Dawson Creek BC. My late brother Calvin had been the Mayor of Dawson Creek at the time of his passing in 2008. I asked her if she knew who Calvin was, she said YES. Then she teared up, and said to me You and Calvin look a lot alike.
- we chatted for awhile while I waited for my friend to be released from hospital

Although it was good to chat with a complete stranger, there were a lot of red flags, warnings - especially in her personal story.
- She noticed my cane and asked if I was in pain (a bit)
- she suggested that I smoke some weed for the pain (nope, never have, never will), then she smoked a joint while we chatted
- she wanted to go get beer (nope, I'm driving)
- we were in the parking lot at Denny's / Sandman Inn, and she repeatedly suggested that I go to her hotel room to get out of the heat -30 degrees C, and be refreshed (umm, no, not going to happen) I was fine
- I may have considered going elsewhere, but I had nowhere to go, was 3 blocks from the hospital, and expected my friend to call and pick him up any minute

It was an interesting day. My friend got released at 7:30 PM and we went for something to eat - he had not been permitted to eat for 36 hrs by that point. Then the drive home.

I'll need to catch up a bit again now. cheers all.

my sister wrote of the weather along the California coast.
She said if she drives 4 miles East the temps rise 20 degrees and everything changes.

can you imagine this RNG?
every morning, it looks like it rained the night before, the fog is that thick it drenches everything.

big problem with fires near Sequoia National Park, giant trees at risk. Like trying to
protect a land of giants.

working on prep for zoom church meeting tonight, more caretaker evaluation. Most of us on committee would prefer a root canal.

now PJ, not only is your photography beautiful, but you are a shameless seeker of likes by posting a beautiful blonde in your picture. Bonus points for PJ!
never want to embarrass the wives or they won't ever get in our pictures...

I learned one never ever took a picture that highlighted a woman's rear end. ;)

Thomas, are you sitting down or on your feet for those 11 hours?
if you are having fun or really interested, time flies.

wow those waffles did me in this morning. I just have to remember not to eat waffles or pancakes without eggs or some serious protein.
Broke out in sweats on drive home at 10:30am, in some kind of low blood sugar unhappiness. Shirt was soaked by time I got home and I had to
really focus to drive properly. Came in, took shirt off, drank a sports drink and ate a piece of apple pie and a banana. Cured.
Those carbs must turn to sugar and you ride the energy. And then the crash. Didn't feel good at all. Won't do that again. he said again...

That was pretty much yesterday's ride, Drew. I started at 8AM in the fog not far from the coast, headed north to US101, finally reaching the coast at Pismo Beach. Ran along in the mist for a few miles, all zippered up and the heat blasting. Then inland again to San Luis Obispo, breaking out into the sunshine again, but still cool. Things gradually warmed as 101 carried me north to San Juan Bautista. Once I hit the San Luis Reservoir at Santa Nella, it was full on blast furnace mode from there, north on I5, easily a difference of 20F degrees.

As much as I appreciate the cool/cold temps, the gloom and fog are no fun. I had that when I lived in the San Francisco East Bay, and I was glad to leave it behind, even if it means I'll see 100F highs often during the summer, and some nights that don't really cool off. With the low humidity, it's not nearly as insufferable as it was in Ohio, where 80% and 80F were like living in a steam bath.
