Good morning!!!!

Feeling your age, Roy? But I think maybe not as much as I'm feeling mine. Some of you may remember that, at my wife's insistence, I finally decided to hire my lawnmowing done. A two man crew working at incredibly high speed the last two times and did a great job. I know I tend to be particular and sometimes perhaps too critical, but I simply could not find a thing they could have done better. Last week, they arrived, and went right to work, at 7 a.m.

So it's going to be interesting to see if or when they show up today. Yesterday morning I got about 1.5" of rain, figured it might be a bit wet today. And then early this morning (shortly after midnight) I got another .64" of rain. No way I'd try to mow today, but I've seen the pros around here mowing in the rain at times, but not in a swampy yard like mine.

Good morning, low temp is 44 and going to a high of 52°F. Wind S 7 mph. Cloudy. After today we will be getting 7 days of sunshine. (y)

I am going to rearrange some of the rolling stock today and I may fire up the power washer, too.
The Dodge doesn't need to hang out in a portable shelter any more. The Jeep trailer could stand to be closer to one of the shelters so I can impact the bolts apart. I have a 1/2" drive electric impact gun that has served me well.
I'll see if I can zap the bolts apart with it.

Lou, thanks for the tip on rod. You guessed it, the only thing I know about welding is where the electrode goes.
The local mobile welder says he is busier than a one armed paper hanger. He 'might ' get to me by the middle of summer.
I have exactly 3 weeks to get everything done here and then it is off to work for the summer. The trouble is that everything I want/need to get done requires money, which is getting scarce. The company I work for is a week slow in paying, so I will need to carry at least $500.oo with me for food for that two weeks and still pay the bills. The welder may have to wait until the fall. That will give me more time to shop around and maybe find a better one than at Princess Auto. I will check my impact sockets today and see if I have the ones necessary for taking my trailer a part. If not, then I will still need to go to PA.

I'm not leaving the property today so I will get some of the re-arranging one.

Have a safe day all

Good morning! a muggy 74˚F, 90% humidity, partly cloudy day. The rain event that was supposed to come did not. Our next best chance is Thursday.

FireWise cedar clearing this morning. And new trail mulching this afternoon if it's not too hot and I have any energy left.

Our trail goes under a street bridge and under the bridge the county put a layer of netting with straw in it for erosion control. This is similar to the nylon netting I used on the blueberry bushes to keep birds off. The problem with the netting is that snakes get tangled up in it and Whipper alerted me to a dead snake stuck in the netting. Not a good idea for the wildlife.

Morning all, 54 and cloudy, was up till 2am waiting for my dad to arrive.
He could not get his GPS working (again) and is holed up in a motel near Newark airport.
His Alligator test for his cruise is at 11am.
Will he make it, who knows. He seems quite able to get lost.

I have been trying to work my foot/leg so I can walk better, stairs really hurt.
We have the Washingtons crossing brewfest Saturday, followed by a Kentucky Derby party and then into Manhattan Sunday for a play.

And the grass is getting long and more rain.
Gonna need more coffee :)

Kyle - glad your friend pulled through and is on the mend
Bird - good you got someone to do the mowing. this way you can focus on the more important jobs and getting better.

Stay safe and be well, off to the day job and wondering when my dad will show up (and where).

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 4:45AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 84F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.

I'm not fond of wind either, Ted. Lots of dust in the air here from the driveway work, dust devils love to play in it. Lots of idiots lighting burn piles in it, keeping the fire department busy, too.

Lots of catching up yesterday, so not much got done. I did find that the ignition switch on the side-by-side is on the fritz, and of course Kubota didn't have one in stock. Gave it a shot of DeOxIt, and will see if that helps this morning.

Still no sign of the package FedEx is holding. Makes it difficult to finish the StarLink installation without the necessary hardware. But I'll maybe get the cable run in from the dish. Hoping that the conduit that's already in the ground is big enough to take the molded on end. Too bad it doesn't use something like CAT5 that is easy to work with.

Went down the YouTube rabbit hole last night. Haven't spent much time there before because the videos just wouldn't play without a lot of buffering, but now it's like watching TV. Cord cutting is a real option I'm going to have to check into, especially with more than a hundred bux going out every month to Dish.

The boys continue to make good progress on the driveway, and will finish this week as long as their equipment holds up. I rode with Les in his ancient dump truck to see where he's moving the dirt to, and it's a wonder it runs at all...

The great state of California took pity on me yesterday and issued me a refund check on my income tax. For a whole dollar. I guess with billions of dollars in budget surpluses, they figured I needed it more than they did. Probably cost 'em more to write and mail that check than it's worth. That surplus won't go very far if they keep pi$$ing it away like that.

Good Morning
It’s 55 headed to 70 with the sun shining.

Yesterday, the new dishwasher arrived before we had to leave for the doctor, they installed it and finished with minutes to spare. When I got home, it was displaying a water supply error. I didn’t have time to look at it, hopefully it’s as simple as he forgot to turn the water back on. That’s on this mornings list to do, as I was off to the oddfellows lodge for a meeting last night.

Today should be breakfast with the professor, then look at the dishwasher followed by paperwork that I’ve put off for a couple weeks. Tomorrow, it looks like I’ll have to make a quick trip to Sarasota. It’s been a month since I had to drive to the Philadelphia airport.

I keep forgetting to post a few pics of that little air chamfering tool.
chamferTool.jpg

That photo is pretty close to actual size.
chamferToolHead.jpg

The head uses a pair of carbide inserts, a supply of which I picked up at the same time I ordered the tool.
chamferToolFinish.jpg

Found a piece of 1/8" hot rolled steel in the scrap bin, and gave it a try without bothering to adjust anything, or clean up the edge of the steel. It didn't have any trouble taking a pretty heavy cut that ended up being about half way through the sheet. The finish is a bit ripply, lileky due to the somewhat rough saw cut edge the guide roller was tracking. Nothing that won't clean up easily with a file or belt sander. But if I'm gonna go to that trouble, why bother with the air chamfering tool to begin with?

A nice cool misty fog 59F. Should see some sun and 76 later, and maybe some rain tonight.

Ken, hope you get better from your tree accident...glad I didn't see your post yesterday before I left the house...I took the tractor, chainsaw, chains and tow strap to tackle 3 dead trees hung up in adjacent ones...all leaning over my path. All came down pretty easily, no surprises...cut up one aspen for firewood, and grappled the pines to a good spot. Cut some more logs to use to replace the sides on my backstop...one more side to do.

Kyle, nice thoughts regarding the Ukraine invasion.

Sodamo, Lei Day was the Bing photo/topic on Sunday...photo was a hula pa'a on a lele...probably something you know about.

Friends from DE returning from drive to Washington state and staying near PJ
looking at Cahokia Indian mound park today. I bet they will be glad to get home. They've made this trip
six times, a dutiful son seeing his elderly mother. And what a lot of neat photos they have sent.
They hope to get an rv this Fall and go see everything in more detail.

picked up kid's stool at church this morning, then picked up a small birthday cake and brought that home.
waiting for call from birthday girl across the street. She still can't drive nor can her other half so she was going to miss out on a birthday
cake due to her hip operation. So I'm headed over for coffee and cake shortly.

then change into grubby clothes and go do some flower bed weeding. Need to get that done before landscapers bring more mulch.

Also going to take some of the screens out of the windows, finally, and store them downstairs. Then will Windex the windows and finally I might be able to get
some decent bird pictures. I never open the windows anyway so this is long overdue. And maybe I'll find where the little black ants are coming in.

Good morning to all! Low was 40°, going up to 78°, sunny of course. The wind finally ceased last night about 22:00. It's still calm this morning, not sure when the winds will arrive today, probably about noon.

At least the firefighters had a break last night.... it will be short lived. The biggest fire here has gone above 135,000 acres, it is expected to blow up again. I hope they get a handle on it soon.

RS, I had the forethought to unload the bags of mulch and strategically place them with the tractor. I was fairly easy to just cut open the bags and dump them where they were..... that's the only reason why I could do it in a day. The placement was done previously.
The marigolds in the blocks were a 'trial run' last year to see how they would grow. It was definitely successful! The plan is to put asiatic lilies in the block. We were supposed to separate 4 large containers of them during the winter, but never got around to do it. They are coming up in the containers again, so maybe this coming fall....

I am envious of the pics of the beautiful yards and green grass / lawns.... We should have greened up here already, but the fields are still just brown. A few green weeds is all .... a least the trees are green. The last precipitation occurred on March 17th, which wasn't much to begin with!

Ken, hope you can get the leg working better.... sounds like you have a busy schedule!

Everyone have a great day!

Bill G, great bee shot.
without those bees we wouldn't be eating so well
I've got on order several of the Burpee bee/pollinator and butterfly seed mixes.
Going to plant some at home and at church in some rear garden areas we have.

/ Good morning!!!! #149,415
looks like a weather front coming across MidWest will get here tonight and tomorrow.
Should be getting RS wet right about now. More importantly, watering all his flowers.
Snow in the Rockies. Otherwise the country looks pretty calm for weather.
Farmers will appreciate that, so they don't star in a Youtube video showing their big expensive planter getting stuck in the mud.

Don, your lawn looked really nice. I would say bag it and put it in garden but if your lawn care folks use a lot of chemicals on lawn, maybe not such a good idea.

Bill, thank you. One of the major ingredients in one of the ant killers is something like corn meal. They can't digest it, get the terminal gas attack...
Ants are fine, like ladybugs, they just belong outside.
I found one on the counter this morning, and it was my fault, not a good job of cleaning up after I spilled some white sugar making syrup for hummingbirds.
Somehow they can smell that sugar from far away.
that ant went down the sink drain.
using corn meal is a great idea, but if they haul it back to the nest then innocent bystanders of sorts get fed stuff that surely is not good for them.
At least it's not chemical poison. And a free range corn fed ant might be quite tasty....for a bluebird.🤢

I received a pretty nice tow-behind cart from Amazon...
However, I decided to return it...nice unit, but my Gator will do the same job

I've owned the Gator since 2014...paid off years ago. With only 134 hours on it, reckon it needs to pay for itself, rather then buy another "toy"

As far as Agri-Fab...think I wrote that I'd written I have other implements from the same company...an aerator (works great! Neighbor and I use it annually) and a dethatcher which I use in the fall.
Although I don't need the cart, if you do need something like this, I recommend the unit 100%

63°F and light rain this morning, only going up to 65° today. Looks like the rain is done with us, at least until tomorrow. We had some mild boomers roll through early this morning, but nothing approaching severe here. iThingie app says we'll be in the upper-80s to low-90s next week. Sounds to me like good kayaking weather.

Drew, I grew up in Granite City, a mere five miles as the crow flies from the Cahokia Mounds Historical Site. It is a truly fascinating place. The trek up to the top of Monk's Mound will take the wind out of a healthy man. About 20 years or so ago they finally built a museum across the road from the main mound, and it's spectacular as well. They have displays set up showing what they believe life was like for the native Mississippian tribe who lived there, and it's like walking through their village. A very cool experience.

65°F and 5.16 inches rain and raining. Forecast a repeat of yesterday. A cold rain as well. For me, not very motivating.

I do need to make it to the PO. Tracking says the Scag parts are in. Otherwise probably pitter about the shop unless it’s thundering. Thunder really bothers Kekoa. The thunder jacket helps a little, but to keep him calmest he likes to be close, as in touching me.

Nice Zoom Happy Hour yesterday. Interesting that wx in Canada was warmer than Wisconsin

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

56F and light, gentle rain @ 12:30, heading up to a high of 68F for the day. Chance of thunderstorms later. Cooler tomorrow (57F)

Meeting with accountant done, tax returns prepared. Just need to review them and then take the Federal and local returns down to the PO and send them in. Was able to e-file the state return, no such luck on the Federal unfortunately ... :(

Stopped for brunch at Waffle House on the way back (it's a tradition) ... man, is that place ever going downhill ... smh.

With the weather it's going to be an inside day today, except for a quick trip down to the church to vote.

Other than that, I expect it will be a pretty laid back day ... with a good possibility of a nap later.

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable, productive, and safe Tuesday ... (y)

Good afternoon. About 60 now, allegedly getting to 70 or so. It is raining now with a little thunder.

I have already had my nap. :ROFLMAO: Went to vote when the wife got back from dentist/Verizon. She is having fits with transferring her phone from work to her. They don’t make it easy.

We also went to the vet’s and got the special diet dry food Louie needs. It isn’t cheap, but it has done wonders for keeping his urinary tract functioning. A lot cheaper than emergency vet visits.

May putter in the garage. Got plenty to do there.

Everyone stay safe out there!
