Good morning! 24˚F heading to the mid 60s.

I hope the citrus plants did not freeze, They did not predict the temp to get this cold this morning and when I finally saw the forecast change it was dark and freezing outside and I did not have bubble wrap. I seem to be related to Buckeye's family fall syndrome lately and I had my confidence shaken by the fall a week ago.

Alien, ROPS are suppose to protect you not be the cause of damaging you.

Both my wife and I just found 3 "F"s, we read fast.

A wet 'n' windy day here, far more pleasant inside than out.

That paint job is the product of a ten year old boy watching too much TV back in the '60s, Drew. There was a John Wayne movie called Hitari that came out back then, and it featured a vet in Africa that went around in an olive drab Land Rover painted with black zebra stripes. Later, a TV series called Daktari featured the same theme, but used white Jeeps painted the same way.

RNG, we were struggling to catch a wayward lamb the other day, ended up chasing it 3 times around the field. Often thought it would be fun to do it the Hatari way, with a long pole and rope, though it could end in divorce once my wife realised I intended to drive the Iseki and she was the one being strapped into the loader bucket. :)

Don, the ROPS caught the branch. I forgot I had a ROPS. It came down and wedged me in somehow. Happened real quick. Reversed back and forgot about it until I realized the pain wasn't going to go away after a few days.
I whacked myself in the back of the head when the rops caught a branch. Then pulled a wheely under the apple tree the first week I had mine.

I ended up bringing the chainsaw out and trimming all the lower branches off my trees in the yard. If it looked like it was gonna catch the ROPS, it got cut.

RNG, thanks for the back story. Did not know it was a wood hauler and a moon shadow maker too.

I've had thoughts of painting my commuter car in the crazy dazzle paint schemes that they used on WWII warships....

Son plays for championship in little dribblers tournament today. May have to play a 2nd tie breaker.

Time to teach Sunday school and go to church.

Morning all, 31 going down to 17 tonight and snowing. So far 2" may get another 1"

Was so nice yesterday, spent almost 4 hours out in the woods with pole saw and brushcutter and got a lot done.
Bit sore today

Took out some more poison ivy and lots of fake grape vines, many in the 3-4" size. Cleared out lots of berry vines and stickers, glad I wore my ripped up coat, as it got more ripped up.
Still have 4 very large dead Ash back there and hoping they drop on their own soon.
Have a number of 20-35" trunks I still need to finish bucking and split.

Stay safe and be well, Heal up fast Alien.

Super Bowl Sunday!!!

61°F and .59 inches rain.

Yesterday’s trip had mixed results. Furniture store a bust. For a place advertising 25+% off, everything must go the prices were still a bit of a shock. Didn’t have the items we were interested.

Costco was more rewarding, as typical we had missed an item that would have been perfect. Don’t know about you guys but at our store if you see something of interest better grab it as it won’t be there later. We did get other things though.

Restock of Porter from Brewery and I’m good for the big game. No gathering, just us.

I will get some time in the Caretaker unit to get something done. Our soon to be new neighbor has rented it for 6 months starting March. More the Plan B approach

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

What is a "fake" grape vine and how do you tell it apart from a real wild grape vine? Real wild grape is good for critters (but bad for the host tree).

Gstrom99,
The grape vines I have do not produce any real grapes, but do drag down trees.
Thick and woody, many the size of my arm and are invasive. Leaves look like grape, but not grapes.
picture from the web, but this looks exactly like what I am dealing with:

I set it up to record the superbowl. We're gonna miss at least the first 2 hrs. Work gave us a date night as a thank you for achieving top shop. So my wife made dinner reservations at "The" restaraunt in town. Celebrating valentines day on the company dime

We got our youngest grandson for a sleep over last night.

Daughter and son in law are getting a day today. And will pick him up before we go to dinner tonight.

Yeah, I've had my share of those too. Are there vines that are NOT wild grape? I never researched that.

What I found on mine, is that they produced small dark fruit (like 3/8"), but WAY up there in the tree and hard to see until the vine is pulled down at the right time of year. My woods had wild turkeys that apparently LOVED them. I was always trying to decide whether to cut them to save the tree, or leave them for the critters.

I have lost so many Ash trees, the trees win for now.
I have lots of poison ivy in three spots (so far) and those vines get big too. Birds love the seeds.....
I also have thinner, ropy vines that choke trees. I cut those too, but not aggressively.

Our turkeys seem to wander properties and I only see them a week here or there during the year.
They seem pretty healthy and large :)

Since I grew up 5 miles from Ken's woods, have plenty of experience with those grape vines
aka monkey vines. My father would take a clipper and fresh cigar and go spend hours in the woods
cutting down those vines.
just have to be real careful it's not poison sumac, which is usually hairier and thinner. You can't get within a foot of that stuff
without rashes.

had a pretty awful time at church at business meeting. One guy said afterwards he has been there 20 years and never seen such
emotion and anger. I had one lady yelling at me, another walked out, but most were all just fine with being conservative and safe.
One lady burst into tears saying she hadn't been in Meeting for two years and somehow that was all our fault since we required masking.
I had to stop the meeting three times and go into silent worship to calm folks down.

oh boy will I be glad when the disease that cannot be named gets out of town. I'm hoping within the next month.
Kinda wish I drank. Roy have a Jameson for me please, I need it.

Wild grape vine.
I’ve been clearing them out of my woods, they killed a lot of trees.
