Sometimes landings cause GI upset:. One needs a sense of humor to enjoy this hobby. I was just flying around my lower field. And the battery alarm was making noise.

One son "couldn't take the pressure of not crashing", I told him to develop the attitude of: "it's not IF you're going to crash, it's WHEN!" I still have a few 'salvageable' aircraft that will eventually get repaired. Lost count of how many awesome crashes we had. One of our sailplanes was attacked repeatedly by a hawk... Will probably never see that happen again. The bottom line was it kept them out of trouble while they were growing up. Sparked an interest in one and he became a mechanical engineer.

Randy, lots of info and opinions on LED lights here;

4' LED "shop" lights for ~ $32 at Costco
4' LED "shop" lights for ~ $32 at Costco

Good info, thanks. My reason for getting Sams units is I have 6 in my garage and they work great. I’m kinda past experimenting with things I have to climb a ladder to do. LOL

Edit; They had a 10 pack got $299 free shipping, so I ordered 10, I needed 5 in the building and I wanted 2 more for the garage anyway. I’ll find a use for the other three.

Question about the LED bulbs. I had 4 three bulb commercial fixtures that I put up in the shop. I purchased the daylight LED bulbs that were "drop in replacements" ( no re-wiring of ballast ) at HD and was rather disappointed at the intensity. Are the specific 'LED shop lights' you guys are talking about brighter?

You forgot mosquitoes too. But at least it seems the fireants have apparently decimated the tick population.

Just saw a flock of robins, maybe 20 birds. They have been a rare sight down here for the last number of years from my perspective.

We’ve had hundreds of robins, picking in the yard, all winter long Kyle. They’re all over our pastures as well.

RNG- A few of the higher end multicopters can literally fly and land themselves if one can program in the GPS waypoints correctly into the flight controller. This is a mixed blessing for owner/operators who never learned to pilot their RC aircrafts. For those operators once a "glitch" occurs in flight it's bye-bye time. It becomes a slippery slope once one gets the dreaded "droners' syndrome." ...... Like motorcycles it can be addictive. My build started out at ~1500 grams (All Up Weight) and 12 minute flight times. Now it's AUW is ~1000 grams heavier and flight times are down to ~ 7 minutes.

I can not handle having my build "return to launch" automatically. I die a thousand deaths watching it come in and land on auto-pilot.

From a cost perspective it is advisable to buy a cheaper more robust, more easily repaired (with decent parts availability) for that "learning curve" quad that will crash and crash often. Landing gear, booms, and props are the most frequent casualties.

I have found that with time and lots of practice that my crashes became much less frequent, but more awesome and costly in nature.

My son is a serious droney, he’s been flying for about 4-5 years, has his license and all that Jazz. He also has pretty deep government clearances so he can fly places not normally allowed. He started out with a $1000 unit and now I have no idea what his current main rig cost, I think a large chunk of the expense
is the camera equipment he uses.

We have more than our share, Kyle. You're more than welcome to some. We seem to have a bumper crop of cardinals this year, too.

Yep, if it’s not broke, no sense trying to fix it.

I’ve got a couple of the Sam’s 4’ fixtures for task lighting above some tools. I like them over the one I bought a Costco to compare.

Yes, so are the replacement bulbs that don’t use a ballast.

I’d buy a drone but I can’t fly it here, too near the airport. In front I can go to 50’ won’t even take off in the back field.
