100 bales put up by hand.

Rip, little sore this morning? Elevator sounds like a good idea.

Bill, have fun in the snow.

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...snow on Christmas Eve is simply the best.
Not for driving though but with awd I'm not concerned. I know which roads have the steepest hills.
Used to drive fire trucks on these hills in heavy snow. I think one of the older trucks had a setup like the school busses used to have, which
released sand in front of the rear tires. If more than six inches of snow was forecast, on went the chains. Now that was a lot of work for a whole bunch of
trucks but you had to be prepared. Some of these homes were up steep hills with narrow private driveways and the excuse we couldn't get there was never going
to cut it. I can remember following the local township snow plow on one fire, I bet that guy never drove his plow truck that fast before...

Mailboxes take such a beating during the winter. The mail guy wants them up close to the road, the plow guy hates them.
(now that's something David and Sophie sure don't have to worry about any more. And displaced Mainiacs too.)

daugen, I never took out a mail box UNLESS you put your driveway snow on my road that was already running water. I would take them off even with the ground so you would have to replace the post, too.

That's true in lots of places, but not here. 65 degrees this morning, going for a high of 84.

There was another 3" came last night, so you all know what I am doing this morning. That makes 10" in the past three days.
About how much snow do you get each?

well Bill, then from those unlucky souls you might get this handy tote for Christmas:

mailboxes were one thing, big stones lurking under the snow was another. Which reminds me today is the day I put out my lane markers. Though forecast is for a lot of warmer weather ahead.
I have confused forsythia showing some yellow blooms and a number of bulbs are popping up. While Bill is headed for the deep freezer.
Just a matter of time before that cold comes down here to stay.

And we hope it doesn't reach Bird. Or Don's beautiful vegetables.

We have great recycling and trash handling at our transfer stations...individual bins for cardboard, paper, can/bottles/plastic, used oil, paint, anti-freeze, batteries, old propane tanks, metal, etc. On my many visits, I've observed most people using one or more of the recycling bins when they bring their trash.

Where I used to live, they made the largest city park out of the landfill...it is the highest point in the city, used for sledding in the winter, fireworks on Independence Day, and has a huge playground, skateboard park and lakes for the rest of the year...Mt. Trashmore...

On certain summer days Mt Trashmore still reminds you of its origin. I watched people snow skiing on several years ago.

............

Backs a little sore, that fingernail I crushed a while back, is still attached and most uncomfortable. Even with gloves, it reminds me that it is still there.

I guess I need to look for xMas decorations to hang up today too.

Positive thoughts on the grain/hay elevator working or next week I will be putting up 250 bales in the hay loft by hand. Guy I got the hundred from had no helpers, so I helped stack them on the trailer and truck, then got them put up in the barn. So I guess I moved 200. LOL.

Help is hard to find nowadays. Even harder to hold on to once you find good help. My wife is finding this out and well, I just keep my mouth shut. It's going to get worse as we get older. The physical labor around here is not conducive to old age.

Prayers for those ailing.
