Sorry to hear the news Buppies. It just seems some are prone to it for some obscure reason. I have been lucky so far but a couple of my kids have had nasties removed. Best wishes mate.

good morning all.
.24 inches of rain yesterday, more coming later today with showers all day, and likely for next couple of days.
Glad I got my lawn mowed.

I put off making final decision on new tractor until early next year. Both JD and Kubota packages (grapple, flail & rototiller) were around 65k and I liked them equally.
But there are no deals to be had, maybe ten percent off here and there. Going to keep my eyes open for used equipment also.
I sent each salesman a nice thank you and some cash, thanked them for their time. That way they don't run away next time I come back...

was hoping to go walk along the towpath this morning but because of yesterday's rain probably back to walking around local ball fields.
My brother is now wearing a boot for archilles tendon problem so walking by myself.
Well scratch that idea, starting to rain lightly and radar shows small system coming through.
I'm not gung ho enough to walk in rain.

buppies, sorry they keep chopping away at you. Just keep avoiding melanomas.

I can now state I have had almost zero reaction to third Moderna shot. All good.

Poured first cup of coffee. 72° with some clouds this morning. Heading to 90° with some clouds and heat warnings. Got .41" of rain yesterday. Grocery shopping went well. Only one item not on shelves on my list. Sold my old dining room set to neighbor. Going to move it to their house today. Then bring set I refinished into my place.
Yesterday Sunrise.

57° right now...high in the mid-70's...a very pleasant day ahead
Arm is a little sore...not as bad as after the first covid shot a few weeks ago. After the first shot, I couldn't raise my arm above my shoulder. No other side effects...

First order of business is a dump run, then out to pick up Margeaux. After that, not sure but I'm probably just going to hang around and start helping Margeaux to feel at home. There's work to do (rigging the pallet forks I just got), but nothing pressing and helping our new furbaby adjust should be the priority. Heck, she might feel right at home as soon as she steps in the front door...I hope so!

Roy, have fun with Margeaux. You just never know how independent and aloof cats can be.
I hope she is a happy cat.
Perhaps give her a day before she climbs up in the JD cab with you.

73 to 93.

Saw lightning in the north last night, but drying out quickly here. Waiting for more ground moisture before tilling several food plots. The gly worked great, even the time it rained less than an hour after my backpack spraying.

Roasted 3 batches yesterday and fiddled around outside a while before doing like Buppies and cooling off.

Are you trying to confuse us old guys even more? Ha Ha.
it's working.
Margeaux is a rescue Lab/Great Pyrenees mix DOG. Roy does have two cats and the interaction should be fun.

Good morning! 71˚F heading to just 90 today after a .2" rain yesterday evening. Trail work is scheduled for this afternoon but I'll see what the heat index is before I commit. The last two days have been very hot hope this is the start of a cooling trend. We are still staying out of the 100s, but barely.

New Covid count was back in the 400s Friday after being in the 200s all the first part of the week.

My gardens ground was cracking before the rains and I found the battery was dead on the timer for the irrigation control. Need to run some new batteries out there this morning. Picked another batch of okra, I will bake this batch after it gets a garlic corn meal coating.

We got back from a month in Deer Isle Maine two weeks ago. I still love coastal Maine in the summer time even though it is a long drive. I wouldn't mind spending all summer up there. Heck they say fall is nice too.The roads up and back are still crummy. One stretch in Mass they were paving. I was glad we didn't loose the boat trailer there were so many bumps. I've got most of the toys washed and put away. I have been thinking about a travel trailer so we could camp out on our lot up there. I need to figure out how to boondock as there are no services on the lot. It has been raining a lot since we got back so the grass is growing like crazy. The baggers are back on the mowers. If there was a catagory for best crabgrass at the state fair I could enter. On the farm the power company has finished replacing the power poles at the back of the property. They still have a timber roadway down all along there. I hear that our farmer is going to submit a bill for the soybeans they killed. I'm hoping they will smooth it out along there or mowing will be a mess. I won't be betting on that happening.
I still haven't caught up of all the posts while I was away.
Chris

Good Morning.
It’s 74 and going to stay there all day with rain.

Yesterday was interesting weather wise. Wide spread thunderstorms with little movement, some producing a lot of rain, while a few miles away stayed dry. We got no measurable rain, a friend a mile away got over an inch, and has a tree laying on his garage roof. Trip to Burlington, VT went pretty well considering the weather. Because the storms weren’t in a line they weren’t too difficult to circumnavigate. Weather deviations can be challenging in the northeast, as it’s some of the busiest airspace on the planet.

When I got home, I got little accomplished, just put my feet up and relaxed. Took the carryall for a ride down the lane to get the mail, stopped to visit son and his family, took grandson for a ride up to the pond to see what we could see, which was turtles and frogs. Friend that caught the crawfish was going to put them in a little frog pond at his place. (He’s the same friend with the tree on his roof btw).

Today will be a good shop day because it would be a crummy outside day in the rain. I think that I could spend all day every day there and never run out of things to do. I’m going to make a space for the new welder today, so I can set it up as soon as it arrives. And I still have one speaker to finish up.

Welcome back Pennwalk, you really must've been offgrid.

Drew, it looks like my dealer is very low on green product in your range. Can you remind me which mower you purchased?

Roy, hope Margeaux settles in after a few days. Good on y'all to take on a rescue.

I'm really sad about the terror attack in Afghanistan. I got to meet 2 young Marines yesterday, who recently got out of the service. They both said morale is low.

We got 1.13 inches of much needed rain yesterday. I hope to BBQ hamburgers today.

Good Morning!!!! 74F @ 5:45 AM. Sunny. High 101F. Winds light and variable.
Those in charge of such things have decided to end the Red Flag Warning early, moving it up to 11 this morning instead of 5 this afternoon. There was barely a breath of wind here all day yesterday, humidity stayed above 19%, and it "only" got to 95F, but I'm not complaining. Still more smoke than is healthy as fires to the south continue to grow. The Caldor Fire is burning to the east, getting uncomfortably close to South Lake Tahoe. Meanwhile, the Dixie fire has grown to over 752,000 acres with 47% containment.

Good time of year to vacation in Maine, Chris. Sounds like a good time.

grizzlyVan.jpg

Made good progress on the grizzly yesterday. Should get the rest of the frame done today, but it would be nice if the smoke let up a little.

Hope everyone enjoys a great weekend!

Good afternoon, we are enjoying a day of pure sunshine. My wife has spent most of the morning trying to spot an elusive and unusual butterfly which has been making fleeting appearances this week. The small brown ones all look much the same to me. Her patience with me in general is remarkable, so I did my best to reciprocate when she is tried to explain to me the difference between a male and female "Brown Argus", then it turned out neither of the ones I saw were what she was looking for.

Eric, we have a golden coin to remind us of her...

We still mistakenly refer to the native tribes here as "Indians." They are not, of course
My cousin's wife used to be proud to call herself an Indian (Mojave). My apologies if that collective name that is no longer considered acceptable in America.

Results came back squamous cell more surgery more stitches
Bups, sorry about the result. Fortunately you are a past grand master at recovering from these things.

The book I read was Undaunted Courage by Stephen Ambrose. He went into detail about the planning of the expedition. They had a really rough time, many times.
It was fascinating too how in recent times they have been able to confirm exactly where they camped at certain places on the expedition - from traces of mercury left behind from where White Men had pooped in pits (it was ingested as a medicine)
