I gotta go to town today and get a new snow shovel. Broke the plastic P.O.S. yesterday. I surely wish I could lay my hands on a good old steel one.

I use aluminum grain shovel for snow.

Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 5:30AM. Periods of rain. High 54F. Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.

Peanut butter attracts bears, and deer like it, too. The neighbors tie metalized mylar ribbons to their electric fences, then smear the ends with peanut butter. The deer lick the ends once, maybe twice, and leave the garden alone. After a while, the peanut butter isn't needed any longer.

Hope your mom gets better, Ed. It's hard rolling with the punches her aging body is throwing, and going along with what the doctors say they can and can't do. Not much choice, other than to somehow shrug it off and just keep going. Stay strong my friend!

That WAS a lovely sky the other night, and i'd have missed it had I not glanced out the window in time. Whatever I was doing was still there waiting on me the next day, but that sunset was as fleeting as those geese it surrounded. The beauty of nature and the wonders of the world surround us, and all we have to do is look up to enjoy them...

German/Mexican, Don? Those're gonna be some stubbornly spicy tamales!

Had to adjust the bearing stack in the front wheel yesterday; I guess a millimeter in India isn't the same as the ones they had in the sixties over in France? Both bearing sets were made by SKF, even paid extra to get 'em 'cause I thought somehow they'd be better than the much cheaper Chinese imports. Silly me...

Got all the spokes swapped out, and started tightening spokes before being overtaken by a growling tummy reminding me it was dinner time. And time to put a few things away and cover up some other things in preparation for today's rain, and to take out the trash. A spicy bowl of left over chili was my reward, and a glass or two of a fruity red blend to wash it down.

More spoke tightening, then some truing and dishing, and maybe finishing that wheel today. Then on to making some tools to disassemble the shocks; they need new fluid and seals...

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start!

The low this morning was 31*, yesterday's high was 50*. Today's going to be in the mid 40's overcast with wind 15-20 mph.

Ed. Hope your mom gets better soon.

Going to work on a sled for the snow today.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

35F and sunny ... high of 43 predicted for the day. Now showing a 50% chance of showers tomorrow.

Spent most of yesterday working on the landscape rake. Got the 5" crack in the frame ground out and welded up along with another shorter crack on the other end. Was sitting on the little mechanics seat while doing that and had a hot booger fly into my left shoe ... left about a 1/2" hole in my sock. Was rather painful. Later I managed to hit my left middle finger with a flap disc on the grinder while it was still spinning. Also painful.

Got two pieces of steel cut and prepped to make the top connection on the 3PH quick hitch compatible. Got one of those completely welded on and the other one tacked up. Have to finish that later today.

Also got the rear of the brace that runs from the top connection to the back of the rake cut on the back side of the top connection, since I wouldn't be able to reach it once I got the aforementioned pieces welded on. Now I just need to weld on a piece tying the two sides together, and I can cut the brace loose on the front side, modify and reposition it, and weld it back in. Also got a bevel ground on the pivot pipe.

Need to dig out the rods and chimney cleaning brush and hit the chimney pipe as it's not drawing quite as well as it should. Based on the last time I did it, it's probably just soot that's fallen down into the 90 that goes into the stove ... but it can't hurt to clean it all out given that's the beginning of the season.

Badly in need of a hair cut, but the barber is closed today ... so it looks like tomorrow at the earliest.

Thanks guys, mom is feeling better today and is breathing pretty good for lately. Think I will make a Costco run after lunch.

Don Sounds like they could be a little different.

Rsyan, my dad used to say you were not a welder unless you could get a spark in your shoe and not break the arc

Have a great day. Ed

38°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 59° today. We had some blustery storms roll through on Saturday. 40-50mph sustained winds all day ripped down about half of the Wife's Xmas decorations.

The Wife finally got her Kia Sorento back Friday. Broken valve spring was clicking around in the head when she let off the accelerator. Expensive little repair, but she has confidence driving it again.

Got the boy's bedroom closet finished yesterday. Put in a new upper rod and reused the existing lower one which hangs from the upper (Wife's Grandfather made it, so she wanted to reuse it), built shelves into a cove in one back corner, and installed new bypass doors. The Wife also had another sitdown with him about the perpetual state of anarchy in his bedroom. At least now he has a closet to hide some of the piles of stuff.

Wife took the foster dog to a small local airport again yesterday morning. This time, both the weather and the mechanicals cooperated, and Max flew to an overnight stop in Des Moines, Iowa, then is flying to his new forever home in Bozeman, Montana today. Neither of us will miss having a fourth dog in the house with Thanksgiving coming up this week. She was actually prepared to drive him to Iowa yesterday should something have canceled the flight again.

I ordered some acoustic foam for my studio last weekend, and it finally arrived on Thursday. I opened the air-tight compressed packaging that night to let it sit and rejuvenate itself. It was still pretty squished on Saturday, so I tried using a hair dryer to fluff it back up. Worked like a charm, and with a little time and patience I finally had the 2" foam I'd ordered. Got some of it stapled to one wall behind the recorder and playback speakers yesterday evening. Now I need to spend some time in there to see where else I'll need some.

Progress.
