Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low only went down to 42, going up to near 70 again. Then on Saturday, 2 cold fronts come across.... one from the NE, followed by one from the NW later in the day. The only thing we will get from them is wind! The "V" they will shape will keep all the moisture up north and between the 2 fronts.... weird.

So, the family has had a few close calls with Covid... my Granddaughter in Colorado had direct contact exposure from another child in her class who tested positive.... so far, the granddaughter tests negative.... hope it stays that way.

Then my son had indirect exposure from a coworker.... they had been working a "hybrid" schedule, only going into the building 2 days a week, otherwise working from home. They shut the building down for a "deep decontamination" this week. Hopefully nothing will come of that either!

The worst part of those exposures is that both of them have severe asthma.... and therefore have "underlying conditions".... not a good thing to have!

On a lighter note: We are receiving a new upright freezer today. Rich, might only be our area, but I found that HD had a few "in stock". Not locally, had to be ordered, but getting it within 10 days. Only had a choice between a 13 or 16 CF Fridgidare. Everything else out of stock, at every other retailer. Seems they will trickle in from suppliers, but get sold almost immediately.

We gave our 21 CF freezer to our son / DIL, leaving it in place at the old house we sold to them. We purchased a new "mini freezer", a 7 CF upright, thinking it would be 'big enough' for just the two of us. ..... Take my advice... it isn't. It gets filled very quickly, no room at all for any extra. That one will be put in storage and saved as a backup.

Drew, too bad you weren't able to try out the generator.... hopefully it won't be too long before the parts come in.

Randy, time to convince Ellen that it's time to retire.... tell her that you can provide plenty of things to keep her occupied.....

Eric, you timed that rain shower perfectly! Beautiful pics!

Gotta cut it short... wifey just got a call from her sister... apparently the BIL just severely cut his thumb with a radial arm saw.... they are on the way to Doylestown Hospital.....

Everyone have a great day!

I was on HD website last evening, exact freezer i wanted showed available, clicked the button to add to cart, it immediately showed unavailable. Menards in Triadelphia WV shows availability, gonna try to order and pick up Saturday, $250delivery is a bit steep for my cheap self.

51F and fair @ 10:30, headed up to a high of 61F. Rather windy today - out of the SSW at 20 to 30 ... with gusts over 40 possible ...

Had several finches and sparrows at birdbath a little bit ago, also a couple of squirrels and four large crows at the squirrel feeder. Deserted last time I looked though.

Day before yesterday there was a large gathering (10+) of mourning doves around the tube feeders where I have been putting out cracked corn on the ground.

Need to refill tube feeders, nugget feeder, and one suet cage.

Plans for today:

Move some block over to pole barn.

Start cleaning out gutters here at the house, now that most/all the leaves are down.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

... Yea Don, Ohio has decided we have a vampire virus, it only comes out at night so best to be kept inside while the virus is out looking for victims :banghead: You can稚 make this stuff up. Our local health department head announced she is positive for the virus. The local county, Tuscarawas, is on verge of being 菟romoted to purple on the state map. That is a bad thing. ...

I'll just leave these right here ...

69°F and .84 inches rain. Wet forecast for day.
Take advantage of the wx and venture to Costco on other side of island. Our 1st since Mar.

That will pretty much take the day.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I went in one of the Denton Walmarts this morning, so I checked the paper isles and there didn't appear to be any shortage of any of the paper products.

Well, just like that, I bought an upright freezer. Went to the Menards site, local store showed a single 15.7 cu ft upright in stock. It showed none last night. Put it in the cart, checked out, already have confirmation it is ready for pick up.

Yeah ... the heat was going to "kill" it and it would magically just disappear.

That never made any sense since the body's temp is 98.6˚F and it thrives at that temp. I would think the sunlight would be a better deterrent, you know the kind that kills vampires. So RichB1 is correct with the vampire virus name - only comes out at night.
In sunshine, coronavirus appears to die quickly in air and on surfaces

Bird were there any limit signs on the paper aisle? See any vampires from Ohio?:D

Well, thanks for clearing that up ...

The hotter weather negatively effects other viruses, such as influenza, so the possibility, if not the assumption, was there. It’s easy to use 20/20 hindsight, I do all the time.

and speaking of things not working...went to Giant supermarket to pick up a few things, and treated myself to two apple fritters. They seemed awfully light when I put them in the bag.
And light they were...whoever made them forgot to put the apple filling in them. They were just sugary dough pockets, yuk. I called the store manager and explained she might want to pull the rest of them out of there before she disappointed anyone else, and no I didn't want my 1.70 back. She was very appreciative and said she would check them out asap.
I am reminded of the wonderful McDonald's commercial Where's The Beef? ;)

On the subject of toilet paper -
Perhaps it is cyclical. The shortages early in the year could be partially attributed to people stocking up AND the fact more people were using it at home.

Now the people that stocked up in April are starting to run out and are restocking.

It did not. I did all the work. Digging out the pipe and everything else. All he did was run his snake in line. After he checked with person that did quote. He changed his price. By then the damage had been done.

Reminds me when Excede came to install satellite internet dish.
I said you can use the existing hughesnet bracket (saved him a bracket). He said different size, I need to add a section of pipe. He proceeded to hacksaw off a foot of pipe, I said let me cut it with my chop saw, so I did.
I then let him use my step ladder so he didn’t have to unload his.
All the while, his wife and kid was with him, and it was 90° outside. So when he went into basement to install the modem, they went in also, uninvited. The kid started playing with my kids toys.
When he connected the existing coax cable outside to the new dish (saved him running coax cable) he cut off one end of the pair, as the new dish didn’t need 2 runs. ( pizzed me he cut my cable).
When he was done, he billed me $10 for supplying the 1 ft of pipe, after I saved him a bracket, coax, use of my ladder, and me cutting his precious 1 ft pipe.

55°F and clear skies this morning, up to 73° right now, and very windy. We have a red flag warning here, with winds gusting up to 40mph.

Got a late start here today. Finished up a work project for the boss this morning, and presenting the proposal tomorrow morning. Glad to be done with that part. It wasn't hard, just time consuming.

Kyle, I saw Rush every tour here in St. Louis for about 22 years. The last time I saw them was their R30 Tour in 2004. I just rarely go to concerts anymore.

Wow, a Muhammad sighting on the GM thread. It's been awhile.

The hotter weather negatively effects other viruses, such as influenza, so the possibility, if not the assumption, was there.

Certainly true for flu... possibly not so much with non-respiratory viruses ... like a virus that uses bodily fluids for transmission, like say Ebola.

Having said that, we knew going in that this was a novel virus ...

I would think that a conservative approach in such a case would dictate caution ... until we better understood exactly what we were dealing with.

It's easy to use 20/20 hindsight, I do all the time.

It's also relatively easy to be careful ... wear a mask and socially distance.

El Paso's temps have not reached 90˚F this month. You may be on to something.

Doubtful that it's what you think it is ...

thanks Toppop, have to remember Clara...

looks like my trip to VA may get called off, PA now requiring either 2 week quarantine or covid test within 3 days if I leave state and return.
And covid testing very backed up, plus I can do nothing until test comes back. Not looking good.
I wouldn't stop on way down, would be there for only 24 hours, but who knows.
Next older brother just cancelled all Thanksgiving plans because son's MIL is coming from Florida and she is a known non mask wearer.

what was really strange was being in my oncologist office last week, and I said to the nurse going over my forms, you will be the first to get
the vaccine. NOT ME she loudly exclaimed. Huh? You are going to provide medical services to me and not take precautions???
Guess she is an anti vaxxer, a position I have zero understanding and sympathy with if one is dealing face to face with general public, particularly in
health field. I wonder if she lived in El Paso if she would still be thinking like that.
