Thank you for the kind words, they mean a lot.

Sometimes I do feel like hopping on a plane and getting out of here (as much as I love my homeland) but I can't for a multitude of reasons.

Hopefully I'll find employment soon, but until then I'll while away the hours winding up JDgreen227

Good luck, boy. Things will get better.
Speaking of which, is Bill still around?

Good luck, boy. Things will get better.

Right...who wants to hang around you guys, who do nothing but insult me?

I don't insult you. In fact, you might be a hero around here. Been a long time since I tried being a gigalo. You seem to be doing VERY well!!

Maybe we should bow down and chant " All hail Bill!!!"

now it's getting deep around here...going to need a strong FEL to push it all out of the barn...:D

A quiet, hot Sunday morning here, going up again into the mid 90's with an excessive heat warning out.
Have to chuckle about that, it would be a cool day for some of you Texans. sort of like the Vermonters laughing at us
below them worrying about an inch of snow.

I read somewhere that Texas has five distinct regions; now all this rain/no rain is beginning to make more sense.

going out to look at a motorhome tomorrow morning. Hoping we can take some small trips with that while Nadene's health is precariously stable for the moment. We went to the garden, at her insistence, the next day out of the hospital last week, with my carefully holding her hand.
And like a little kid, she squealed something about discovering something new, spun away from me, took five steps, tripped over the landscape fabric and fell hard onto the ground. Oh no. Took me a while to get her up, thank goodness the ground had been watered and had some softness to it and she fell "well". May have cracked a rib, she's pretty sore. Definitely shook her up and rattled her cage, which is not what we want at all. That sure ended our garden visit for the day. But we'll likely go up for a visit today. She wants to hunt for cucumbers and I think today we'll pick the celery and the few onions we planted. and maybe another shovel of potatoes.

As I've mentioned before, I act as a caretaker to a very beautiful private estate/farm not far from where I grew up. They allowed us to put in a 5000 sf garden on their property, which we scratched out of a fallow farm field. I jokingly call the property owners the Duke and Duchess of Windybush (name of the road) and I am merely their humble land serf. One who must bring tributes to the Duke, in the form of a sampling of garden veggies, which they always like. I hope they like hot peppers, we have them coming in like crazy now, planted by mistake frankly, and we don't eat them. I have to be careful even touching them when I'm sweaty; rub a little of that in your eye...

And her hand will not get out of mine. that's ok, we are hand holders from the very beginning.

So today we pick veggies, tomorrow we look at a motorhome, and most importantly, we start interviewing health aides for home. Need to hire someone for four hours a day, five days a week. It's taken me a long time to come to this but I can't do it all any more.
Hopefully we can find someone nadene can have fun with, go food shopping with, whatever. She has a nurse come in twice a week, so this is basic living help. I want to remember my wife for all her wonderful things, not an end game of changing diapers. After six years of taking care of her, dozens of operations, maybe thirty hospital stays, I know I need help. My clutch is beginning to slip...

Ok, back to positive things, on a lovely Sunday morning.
Wishing you all peace and happiness.

Good morning folks.

It's a beautiful day here in Scotland this morning, lovely and sunny but terribly bad for my hayfever!

I woke up with a sore throat and a caffeine (or lack of) related headache.

I'm almost half way through my second cup of coffee and both ailments are going away.

Just as I was going to sleep last night I saw a headline on my mobile (cell) phone saying a Boeing had crash landed in San Francisco. Not wishing to go downstairs at midnight and power up the PC I left it and checked it a minute ago - unfortunately there have been two deaths and a lot of injuries.

Here is a link to an article about it: Boeing Plane Crash Lands

I'm sure you will all join me on this Lord's day in a prayer for all affected people and their families.

Apparently the pilots had 10,000 hours of flying time and had met the standards, but that begs the question - are the standards high enough? If there were no engine or mechanical problems, was it pilot error? If so, questions have to be asked and actions taken.

Yep, Jaime, there are lots of questions to be answered by the flight recorder. It sure looks like that airplane came in too low under glideslope and decided to try an emergency go-around at a time when it didn't have enough speed or altitude to complete the maneuver. Probably couldn't get the flaps up in time, and thankfully did not raise the gear so it cushioned the landing. It essentially stalled in a nose-up configuration and dragged the tail across the rock berm wall bordering the bay. It's an amazing thing that the whole fuselage did not come apart at the impact with the runway. The loss of two lives is horrible and there are still 10 critical. The rest of the passengers seem to have walked away in what is nothing less than a miracle. I think everyone will be interested to know if it was equipment or pilot error. The flight recorder should clear up all of that.

Yes that was what I imagine happened as well. Very fortunate indeed that the plane didn't tear apart completely.

If this is pilot error I hope the rules are changed so more flying time is required before pilots can fly commercial planes, but I doubt it. Or maybe I'm just cynical.

Time - as always - will tell!

Beautiful morning, they cut the wheat across from our house yesterday so the field is green again. Umbrella shopping online and doing nothing, easy but bad habit to engage. Have a great day!

62 right now...very pleasant!! The high is 86 with a 60% chance of thunderstorms.
I'll be heading out in a bit to do some mowing of the lower field. I'll get some before/after pics (although the "after" may not be the field completely mowed...I want to leave an acre or so intact for the critters....Roy's Wildlife Refuge).

As far as that aircraft accident in San Francisco...2 dead is tragic, but it could easily have been a lot worse. The bird could have slammed into the runway when the tail hit the barrier and exploded...probably killing most, if not all, onboard.
At this point in time, it looks like pilot error...

Drinking iced coffee this morning. 73° with clouds and promised showers. Heading to 80° with more thunderstorms forecast this afternoon. Friend coming over with his motorhome. Going to put new brake pads on it.
Good Morning All.

Drew you are indeed a bright light in this dark world, if more people were like you and what a love story could be told about you and your wife may God bless. 72 this morning heading up to mid 80s flash flood watches out thru Monday. We have had up to eight inches of rain last week with up to two more inches today. Pond is totally full and then some grass needs mowed but not to bad. Will finish unpacking this morning then get ready for start of work week

Good morning!

I hear the equipment moving around on the farm! YA! Means dirt is moving!!! I got back from a round trip 500 miler last night. Man, it's hot all over VA. Today will be no different. High to 90 again. Alright by me as stuff is drying out. Stay cool. Drink a lot of water if outside.

yeah my daughter ask me if I had grown web feet. it's kinda frustrating my wife and I took some time out of the public work force hoping to get several things done outside and it has basically been a flop. we not even got the hay cut so can't run thru the fields to put new post in. still got tree's down in our mountain road that came down with heavy snow last winter, the road stays to muddy. I have been able to spend some quality time in the shop fixing up truck and tractor. maby get hay done this week and then get back to work. in july so far we have almost 6" of rain that hasn't happened in many years.

72 here, going into the 80's. Very humid, might rain some more. Bugs are very bad here, worst I've ever seen. But Michigan isn't known for good weather. Seems like we get 6 months of winter, and 6 months of summer. Spring and fall are very short!! Going to church in a minute, may not be going there much more. Pastor has been on a politics jag, doesn't understand that we can listen to that 24 / 7 thru a lot of other outlets, we really don't need that on sunday.

You should talk to him about it, maybe he doesn't realise he's irritating some people.
