Good evening all. 64F for the start, .3 inch in rain gauge, overcast sky and light wind. Rain on and off, moderate wind and high temp of 69F. Went ot work on bike, broke rear rack mounting bolt Saturday. Could not get broken bolt out was not confident drilling on 4 MM bolt and bike shop said 2 weeks. No nap due to trip to bike shop
Covid update Cooke unchanged, Montague unchanged, Grayson up to 112 confirm, 48 recovered.

34 right now...high in the mid-50's today.
My local Deere dealer (Trottier's in South Royalton VT) was sold to an outfit in Texas that wants to expand into the northeast. Found out Trottier's owes me $146 and change from 2016. I'll be stopping by there this afternoon.
My new pole saw was delivered to the plant yesterday. Like all EGO products I've got, seems to be great quality. I expect to break it in this weekend, weather permitting

Good morning, the temp is 27°F and going to a high of 54. Wind NNW 5 mph. Sunny.

I may cut the grass on the side field today, it'll be the only time this summer that it gets cut. Junior doesn't cut the side field, nor does he keep up on the grass on the postage stamp sized front lawn and then ******* and complains about the mosquitoes and black flies.
I have learned to turn my deaf ear to his belly aching.

Still no word on the lawn roller, maybe today. I am not holding my breath.

Need to pour first cup of coffee. 24ｰ with clear skies this morning. Heading to 60ｰ with lots of sun. Pond maintenance got done yesterday. Dogs enjoy riding in golf cart. Going to take them again today while spread some more mulch. Blue Angels had a flyover for Detroit area yesterday. But none near me. Today at 3pm NG will do a flyover in my area. Hope to get a picture. Still no response from TBN on why my pictures are not working. But posting from my iPad worked yesterday for hawk. Will repost pictures from my iPad today.

Kyle, if you look very close you to hawk picture. You will see the black squirrel hawk is holding in her claws.

David, measuring springs was how I used to do slip clutches. But latested one has spring washers. Got a HF torque wrench to set it. Is working OK so far.

Good Morning. It's 65° with 99% humidity and no wind. It's supposed to get to 83° this afternoon.

I've no idea on how much rain we got, still to dark to go check rain gauges, but bird bath on East patio is half full and it was empty yesterday .. to be cleaned. Our forecast says big rains this weekend.

When I saw the high likelihood of rain yesterday .. I jumped on the zero turn and got about 3/4 of the 9 acres around the house cut but .. got halted by lightning and first rain drops at 5 p.m.

I'll likely work on the rolling ladder, in the shop, today. With mowing, I made no progress with it yesterday. I need to make a template of the existing caster plates to transfer the bolt hole pattern to the strut sections. Mostly asked about reason for a rolling ladder? First the main lights in the big shop are 8' fixtures, suspended on chains, but still 16' above the floor. I have two more of the 8' fixtures to install that will be roughly 12' above the floor. The lights in the area, where tractors are parked, are 1' above the floor. The revered lights, in our O/D kitchen are 14' above the floor. Not being a fan of tall step or extension ladders, the rolling ladder is a good solution.

Additionally .. we have sparrows that have made their mud / grass nests in several of the high gables on the house so 20' + above the ground. I'll be able to roll the ladder up onto my 6' x 12' trailer, along with a pressure washer, and back it up to the house under each of the gables. With the ladder and my telescoping PW wand I'll be able to easily wash away the nests.

Got to go relocate another ground hog this AM. Close air support was in the area, a few days ago. Maybe I can get lucky. LOL.

I like the ladder, Rick. how does it handle ground engagement? Most of my areas that need work don't have a fixed concrete or patio base.

That’s the reason for the 8” casters Rip. I wish the treads were wider but the 8” diameter should help.

At least I’ll be able to roll it up the ramp / tailgate on the trailer. I can move that trailer easily with my Polaris Ranger.

Good morning! 66˚F cloudy, 64% humidity, heading to the 80s.

Kyle the Thunderbirds are taking off from Leander TX at 2:40 and making 6 circles from Georgetown to Austin. Their flight pattern will take them about 5 miles from me. With the clouds and chance of rain it might be canceled I will have to keep tuned to media. I saw that projected tornado path on the TV but did not see any damage reports.

The rains did come yesterday afternoon. It rained 1.1" just enough to cancel out the afternoon tractor work and this morning's Cedarcide event has been changed to tomorrow because of the mud in the park.

Ron there seems to be a rabbit's foot in the Hawk pic. ??

Jay hope your liver exam brings good news.

For 200 feet I wouldn’t think of buying a tool, but then I didn’t know there was a tool for driving fence staples other than a hammer.
I have a nail gun, still built the barn with a hammer and nails, because they supplied all the nails.

Good Morning!!!! 52F ! 5:30AM. Partly cloudy this morning, then becoming cloudy during the afternoon. High 67F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph.
Looks like we picked up somewhere around a half inch of rain from the storm that came through Monday night and Tuesday, and so far I'm not seeing any collapse in the trench. The grass is getting really long, over two feet now, and I should probably be mowing instead of working on the solar rack.

I had no idea that a carbide blade could be run in a normal circular saw to cut steel, Chris and Ted! That Diablo is on my shopping list for the next trip into town. Hope you'll update us with progress on the monster fence, Paul. Sounds like a pretty good challenge.

You're showing some distinct RedNeck tendencies with that rolling-ladder-on-the-trailer idea, Rick. I think there's hope for you yet!:thumbsup::laughing:

Glad that twister missed you and yours, Kyle. I don't think most drones would survive getting wet, so the locate feature wouldn't work after getting sucked into a thunderhead. That makes me a fair weather only pilot.

Did a little tidy in the kitchen yesterday morning, but by noon, it had stopped raining, the sun was trying to come out, and the driveway was dry. I got the truck unloaded, and since all those boxes of Kubota parts were just sitting there on the pallet, I figured I'd better check what's inside to make sure the right things made it home. The biggest box held the backhoe thumb, and since the 'hoe has to come off before I can do more work in the solar rack, I decided it was as good a time as any to go ahead and install it. Got stuck at the first step, driving out the pin that holds the bucket to the dipper stick, but remembered that the salesman at the Medford dealership said to call me if I had any questions. He looked at the M62 on their lot and told me there was a roll pin hiding under the bucket bracket, and once the bucket was off, things went pretty smoothly from there. And to my surprise and relief, I only lost about a cup of hydraulic fluid when it came time to hook up the new cylinder.


I couldn't just install that thumb and not try it out, so I rode the tractor up the driveway to where a large oak had fallen in the fire, leaving a sizeable stump and a section of trunk laying up there. Used the bucket to get the trunk oriented, then grabbed it with the thumb, no problem. It was slipping a bit in the grip, but when I tightened it, the trunk broke into four or five pieces. Guess I don't know my own strength!:laughing:

Fun time over, so I brought the tractor back to the garage and proceeded to grease the backhoe, including the new thumb. I'd almost finished when it started raining again, so I only got a little wet on those last two zerks.

Looks like the rain predicted for today will be a no-show, so I'll get the backhoe off the tractor and mount the three point linkage. The Medford dealer was kind enough to demonstrate how the hoe came off while I was up there, and I videoed his demonstration, but I hope the instructions for the linkage are better than those that came with the thumb...
