Paul not expecting heat issues. Couldn’t find any caveats in the installation instructions, rather

“SimpliPhi’s battery technology utilizes the industry’s most environmentally benign chemistry combined with proprietary architecture and power electronics (BMS) that eliminate the need for cooling or ventilation to create products that provide energy security and resiliency – all with a 98% efficiency rate.”

That said, my rack does allow space between units. My Outback also has a plug in remote temperature sensor that I’ll install and set. Likely it won’t do much as we don’t have wide temperature swings 58°-82°F with majority of time in mid 70s.

Back to busy. Need to get my erector set battery bracket together and painted.
Installer will be calling today to discuss and set schedule.

What battery technology/maker did you decide on, David? The sub batteries sounded exotic, but expected lifetime seemed short. Are you going lithium?

Thomas, sounds like you are enjoying your days off. A slow puttering roll...

I just got off the phone with the boss that offered me a different role. He had indicated that I was not doing my current role to his expectations (been my manager 4 months, had a few phone meetings). He is promoting a new manager to handle the group that I am part of, she doesn't understand the current job either.. so I agreed to take a new role and transition over the next 2-3 weeks. At least my new manager knows what the job is for the group he manages. He did the job for 14 years before he became a manager last year. I talked to one of his people that I have known for a number of years, good manager was his opinion. Anyway, I am excited to be starting a new role in the company in an area I know little about. I will no longer be the SME (subject matter expert) on a wide range of products, but will be working custom deals.

I will be trading one type of stress for a different type, but it is good work.

Thanks for all the prayers and support from the TBN family, it means alot to me.

Stay safe, prayers for those in need.

Going with the SimpliPhi 3.8.
The sub batteries made sense as a cheap alternative to buy time 3-5 years. Well, I got the almost 3 years, just not cheap with the Aquions.
Batteries aren’t cheap here due to transportation costs. Seriously looked at replacing my Rolls but cost had doubled since my originals and 2/3 cost of the lithiums. Even your option would be more than half of the lithiums not even considering cabling etc. if I were to get really good life from those options I’d be in my 80’s next time. Due to system size/usage, I can’t get away with just a smaller bank.
So far, I’ve no bad reports on the SimpliPhi, everyone seems happy with them.
I will share details of the bracket as I make progress.

Busy day. Am tired.

Good frost this morning as it has the last few mornings.

Got the chain GDO installed on my large barn door. Had to notch about a 3/8 inch groove in edge of a 2x6 behind it. Took awhile but got it working.
The genie GDO is catching in the track sometimes. Will suddenly stop. I just back it slightly and then it goes on.
Now my wife can open the barn doors.

Took down deer netting around the garden and rolled it up. The corner had been ripped off a couple posts, I wonder if a deer ran into it.

Still need to clean up garden and pull the plastic weed barrier. The new stuff I got this year worked great.

Mowed leaves behind house, then mowed front yard. Wife finally used the load of mulch that has been in the ranger bed since springtime.

Tomorrow is PT day. Need to do a credit union run, closest branch is 45 min away, close to mission bbq.

I can't imagine shipping costs for a ton and a half of lead acid batteries, so in that sense alone, lithium batteries might be a better deal.

I did get through to someone at that new company this morning, and they've been in business long enough that they're in their 10th generation of lithium battery designs, but their installed base age only goes back five years. Talk about a rapid pace of evolution! Prise is $7,000 for a 10 kAhr unit (includes charge controller). It seems most of the folks that work there are entirely off grid, and have been for quite some time, so at least they're familliar with batteries and generators. They've also developed their own line of generators, made in the Sacramento area, and their own line of USA made solar panels. I'm nervous about lithium batteries, and small batch generators, batteries, and generators, but one of 'em is coming out tomorrow to do some load testing, the first company to offer to do that.

I have an appointment with my insurance guy this morning so I have to get moving, prayers to all.

Really pretty Randy.

Yum yum.

RNG, you are probably up against the onslaught of customers willing to pay almost anything for a system ASAP. I just see those battery prices and knowing that they have to replaced every __ years... Ouch. AGM's are good, but expensive too.

Dave, those look like decent batteries. I don't know about lithium, but it's best for most types of batteries to not be discharged more than about 30-40% as previously mentioned.

Hawkeye, good luck with the new job.

Really nice outside tonight. About 72F right now, and calm. Tried to repair the Echo blower's fuel line/grommet assy, but it was too far gone (rubber melted). I saw a kit on amazon with a new plug, air filter, and the complete fuel line assy for about $9. Sold.

PJS, your place looks really nice. I have to laugh at myself. About 3 years ago, I put up a new mailbox. A month later, the county had sent a tree trimming crew down our road. They trimmed one of our post oaks, and a branch crashed down and dented the new mailbox. It's still dented. I just tell people looking for my place, to look for the black mailbox with a dent on top.

BEF, glad you're mobile. Hee hoo. Beep beep. (anybody recognize that?)

Same as Eric's hobo sheep. Headed down the tracks.

Prayers for our team. Have a blessed night all.

Good evening all, 50F for the start, breezy, clear. Sky stayed clear wind 15-23 mph, and high temp was 77F. Last above normal temp in 10 day forecast, upper 40's for high next week :( . Wood stove will be running. Choir practice to start, monthly golf cart service, air in tires, check oil, top gas tank ( almost 7 hours run time, about 3 gal usage). Swept out garage and put new storm door on saw horses, then went for bike ride. new area rug arrived and helped wife rearrange the living room. watched at the Cowboys tonight.
Eric hope fence repairs are complete before too many sheep get wanderlust!
L4N enjoy your plowing if needed.
Randy, nice pics, good place to enjoy what you had with Lynn.
RNG good luck with new solar supplier.
PJ gotta love the secret menu, we did ask about the French onion soup at Panera's, no joy. Wife had a favorite dish at Lake St Louis El Maquay's called Camerones Blanco, Could still get it ears after it departed from menu, talked another El Maquay's to make make if the right cook was there. :)
Thomas hope you got your Hotdogs and Beans for supper.
Hawkeye, good luck with your new position.
Buckeye sounds like you and the GDOs are making progress, enjoy BBQ tomorrow.
prayers for all.

Good evening! 50˚F to 80˚F nice Fall day.
Spent half a day at the Gualt Archeology site in Florence. Now I know what to look for during the hikes. At this site they found over a million artifacts dating back a gazillion years ago. The curator was very knowledgable he was one of the archeologist that has been digging for 20 years. This site was very good for the prehistoric people. It was a cool valley with spring water flowing year round. The rocks in the area could be napped to make excellent tools for hunting and trade.

Won all 5 games tonight in H&F and will move up from 14th place. Will miss FireWise clearing tomorrow to take delivery of refrigerator and work on raised beds in the garden. Wednesday, all day, will be trail blazing the new neighborhood trail they want us to go closer to the creek (flood plane) to be out of view of the houses about 400 yards away, no problem.

Ron I don't know if the new opportunities for seat time will be available in the county park project but I will be sure to be available if there is.

Hawkeye one door closed another opens, variety is the spice of life.
